FLY THE COOP TO RUNAWAY ROOSTER! When you really need to fly the coop, make your getaway to Runaway Rooster!
Located in the heart of charming Bloomfield, this private, four-season vacation oasis has everything you need to really escape the city barnyard.
White, bright and airy, the space is lovely and welcoming. Its vibe is stylishly eclectic, mashing together modern-casual with retro and boho-chic, and fun pops of colour, furnishings and accents.
It’s the perfect home base for experiencing the bounty of the County.
ESCAPE FOR A WEEKEND, WEEK OR LONGER. Runaway Rooster is available any season for your getaway from it all – whether you just need to escape for a weekend, a week or longer. The self-catering guesthouse features an open-concept kitchen/living room area, separate bedroom, bathroom and even laundry facilities.
A large antique chandelier graces the main space, while four skylights fill it with beautiful natural light. There are loads of other ambient lighting options, too. The gas fireplace is fall-winter cozy. It’s also perfect for taking the chill off a cool spring-summer day or evening … or simply adding a romantic touch to anytime.
FULLY EQUIPPED If you’re a foodie, you’ll LOVE the fabulous gourmet kitchen – perfect for preparing your farm-stand finds. It’s fully equipped with a new gas stove, microwave, spacious fridge and dishwasher. The plentiful cupboards and drawers house top-of-the-line pots, pans, dishware, cutlery, cooking utensils, spices and coffee filters.
Gather round the counter-top island for cocktails. Dine at the 1950s yellow-red Formica kitchen table. Or go al fresco on the backyard BBQ deck. In spring and early summer, lilac bushes wrap the deck in their intoxicating scent.
You’ll sleep soundly on queen-size mattress comfort in the bedroom, enjoying the caress of quality linens and duvets. There’s also plenty of closet space for all your gear.
The full bath/shower is spectacular! A skylight fills the room with natural brightness by day. At night, it becomes a window on the stars as you look up from a shower, or lean back in the deep tub for a luxurious soak.

Overall a great experience, Karen was an excellent host, her restaurant recommendations were a hit. The property was great and the perfect location between the wineries, Picton and Sandbanks Park.

Our stay was amazing. The County is always a wonderful getaway.
The Runaway Rooster was the best spot to enjoy all of the area. The cottage was so clean, well appointed and the bonus space off the back deck was a breathtaking oasis of green and flowers. Location and the best customer service...even fresh cut flowers provided by our gracious hosts! We definitely recommend.

Runaway Rooster and hosts, George and Karen, could not be more charming! Just delightful!
This property was perfect for us--a couple from Toronto with a 12 year old son. It is just as cute, clean, cozy and comfortable as it looks. Karen and George have attended to every detail--it is super well equipped with kitchen gear, comfy linens, games, Netflix, etc.
Karen and George were so nice and easy to deal with. We took them up on their offer to play badminton in their backyard and joined their family for roasted marshmellow around the fire one night. We're looking foward to going back!

Thank you Libby! You and your family were an absolute delight to host. It was lovely to meet all of you. We appreciated how clean you left the space, and loved how you made the most of the property and lawn games despite the weather. We especially enjoyed toasting marshmallows with you. Please let your son know we owe him a rousing badminton game challenge the next time you come here! He looks like a pro ... he'll probably win!!
Be well.

A beautiful restful getaway
Can’t say enough about this property! Not only is it beautiful, with so many creative accents and tasteful design touches throughout, but it’s extremely well-appointed. Not a thing was lacking, we loved cooking in the kitchen and the available Spotify & Netflix was much appreciated. Karen & George are gracious and helpful hosts, our welcome gifts were such a nice touch.
Great location, Bloomfield is nicely situated between Sandbanks Provincial Park and Picton, and close to most of the wineries. So grateful to have use of a parks pass too! A wonderful convenience.
We’ve never had a bad time in the County but this was our most comfortable and relaxing yet!

Thank you so much for the wonderful and thoughtful review, Julie. It is good to hear that our efforts to make Runaway Rooster a beautiful home away from home for guests are succeeding and appreciated. We hope to see you and Al again on your next trip to the County. Cheers!
We decided to spend our honeymoon in PEC, staying at the Runaway Rooster for 4 nights. Karen & George were super welcoming and great to communicate with. Knowing of our recent special occasion, they were kind enough to greet us with a local fave Rose wine, chilled and ready for us upon arrival. It was a lovely first impression and welcome. The VRBO itself has all the amenities you could possibly need. Well stocked and comfortable, we will definitely visit again when we are next in PEC. I highly recommend leaning on Karen & George's expertise if you have any questions on what to do in the area. All their suggestions were hits.Lastly, they do offer a 2 course breakfast (paid, per person) which we also highly recommend. The breakfast items were thoughtfully prepared - you might've thought it was prepared by a professional chef! Definitely recommend to partake in this upgrade.Thank you again Karen & George!J&L

Spacious, bright, open living area with fireplace. Separate bedroom with extremely comfy bed. We absolutely loved our stay. Karen and George have thoughtful added little extras like generous supply of coffee, creamers, tea, sugar, cooking oil and a complementary bottle of wine. The location is central to most of the wineries. Karen and George are excellent hosts and love to share their knowledge of the area. The patio sitting area is private, with beautiful trees on the property. We went in the fall, and the huge maple out back was in full splendour. Exceeded my expectations. Next time we will stay longer!
We had a great week at the Guest House in July 2019. Karen and George are amazing hosts, the house is spectacular, meticulously decorated, well equipped for cooking fresh County produces and everything has been thought of. The location is central for accessing everything in the county. Quiet, within walking distance to several restaurants and the quaint town of Bloomfield. As hosts, they could not have been nicer, with several kind attention including hand cut flowers and beach towels. They have endless suggestions for experiencing the county and are super helpful and knowledgeable. We have wonderful conversations with them, it is obvious they love to host. Thank you Karen and George
The Runaway Rooster is a real gem. We had a lovely and relaxing four day stay. The cottage is very chic with tasteful whimsical touches. It is also super comfortable, well-appointed and exceeded our expectations. Most importantly, hosts Karen and George were very friendly and welcoming and had many helpful tips. We hope to visit again!

We flew the coop one hot summer and landed in love with the County!
We're absolutely thrilled to call this magical place home, and eager to share its beauty and bounty with others. We're big food and wine enthusiasts, love good music, and taking leisurely, back-country drives in search of new discoveries ... and that perfect barn shot.
We look forward to welcoming you.
