My Riverfront Beach Cottage is a charming 1940’s era 2-bedroom, 2-bath house fully remodeled with all the modern amenities. It’s a roomy 1400 s.f. featuring an open and airy living space with vaulted ceilings and skylights. Out front there is offstreet parking for 2 vehicles in the driveway and a small covered porch. Inside is everything you need for the perfect Bend vacation. But the best part is the back yard set right on the Deschutes River with a sandy beach and a dock!
My house couldn’t be more perfectly situated on the east bank of the Deschutes River in the heart of Bend. Riverfront Street is a quiet, friendly cul-du-sac that is actually part of the River Trail that connects Downtown to the Old Mill. You can walk, bike or paddle to everything! And here is a pretty tough stat to beat: there are 12 yoga studios, 13 bike shops and 17 brewpubs within a 2-mile radius!
Meander downriver through historic Drake Park to vibrant downtown Bend where you can sip a Black Butte Porter at Deschutes Brewery or an Outback Ale at Bend Brewing, browse the art galleries, enjoy international cuisine or take in a world-class event at the Tower Theatre. Or stroll upriver past the whitewater park to the Old Mill where you can enjoy a concert at Hayden Homes Amphitheater, dine by the river, buy gear at REI or catch a movie at the Regal. Or just pop around the corner to up-and-coming Galveston Street where you can choose your feast from the food carts at The Lot, taste an IPA at Ten Barrel or Sunriver Brewing, rent a bike at Hutch’s or recover from it all at Namaspa Yoga.
Within striking distance, there is so much to do in any season. In winter, ski at Mt. Bachelor, snowshoe up Tumalo Mountain or go ice skating at the Pavilion just across the river. In spring, ski in the morning and play pickleball or golf in the afternoon. Fall is a great time to mountain bike Phil’s Trail, hike South Sister or climb at Smith Rock.
And then there’s summer. Why go anywhere else when you can simply relax by the river, margarita in hand, toes in the sand and watch the endless parade of ducks, geese, otters, beavers, fish, paddleboarders, kayakers and floaters? You can paddle right from the dock up to to Bend Whitewater Park and go surfing! Pocket Beach is my secret gem at the water’s edge inviting you with soft white sand from the Oregon Coast, Adirondack chairs, shady beach umbrellas and a firepit.

The location of this property is ideal and in walking distance to everything. It would be hard to list all the positives of this charming river house and neighborhood.

Thank you so much, Rachel. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at my riverfront retreat!
We absolutely loved staying at this adorable house. It is right on the river with several outdoor areas to relax overlooking the water. Inside is super cozy and has lots of space as well. It’s location is perfect for walking or biking to old town or downtown. We didn’t have our kids with us but wish we did because it is perfect for a family getaway too.

Incredible weekend of sun and relaxation on the river! Very clean, everything was as advertised, and the owner is super easy to communicate with if there is a question. I would not hesitate to stay again! Thank you for sharing your special oasis!

Thank you, Jessica! I am so glad you had a relaxing weekend by the river. I hope to see you again! Pam
My wife, eight year old son, and I had a great three night stay on the water in Bend, OR. Had the opportunity to take our son onto the river in the provided kayak and if we had stayed longer, we would have floated the river as well on tubes as many do. Easy walking distance to morning walks in parks, to coffee, lunch, and dinner. Really enjoyed our time on the river and would return when in Bend, OR.

This property has an amazing location and the backyard was everything you'd hope it would be. The house, however, was a different story. Very old and tired amd has not been maintained. The couch was ripped, worn and uncomfortable. Furnishings were old and stained. The appliances marginally worked. Stovetop, floors and bathrooms were not clean. Bed linens and comforter in master did not feel clean or fresh. It is not Fully Remodeled as it states in the description. The hall bathroom has a weird tub/shower that requires bailing as well as a huge step to get out. The second bedroom bed was extremely marshmallow-y and impossible to use. A sign when you got into the property informed us that the majority of windows did not open (and there's no A/C) and there were various issues with appliances. Sitting by the river was magical, being inside was not.

Thank you, Nancy, for your feedback. I am glad you found my location and backyard on the river magical! I am very sorry you were disappointed with the inside of the house.
Situated in the heart of "Old Bend", my charming home was originally built in 1938 and has been extensively remodeled and carefuly maintained throughout the 22 years I have lived here. In fact, I have recently invested significant funds in a brand new hot water heater, furnace and air conditioning with a smart thermostat. To address each of your specific concerns:
1. Guests can view the furnishings in the photos. The one sofa near the bay windows looking out at the river did recently become frayed on one arm from the sun exposure. I am sorry that disappointed you.
2. All appliances work well! My hope was that you appreciated the brand new stainless steel french door refrigerator and microwave in the kitchen and a brand new stainless steel grill on the deck. Also, the dishwasher, toaster oven, crock pot, blender and coffeemakers in the kitchen all work fine. I do have a double oven, but only one currently works. In my experience, one oven has been plenty for my guests who generally prefer to enjoy the fanatastic dining options within short walking distance of my home. However, I am in the process of installing a brand new one.
3. My house is always professionaly cleaned for every guest. This includes the bed linens and towels. Most people enjoy the memory foam toppers I added to the beds, but if you prefer a firmer feel, you are always welcome to remove the memory foam topper.
4. The hall bathroom has a jacuzzi tub! Most guests love the jacuzzi. I also added a showerhead to that bathroom so guests can have that option as well.
5. Thanks to climate change, summers here in Bend are getting warmer. I have lived in this house for 22 years and never needed A/C. However, we just experienced our hottest summer in history, so I felt it imperative to invest in central air conditioning for my guests. I sure hope my guests next summer find it super comfortable.
Thank you again, Nancy, for your feedback and have a great day!
The four of us had a very relaxing visit to this house. Watching the river in the back yard with birds, deer, canoes and paddleboards was a great way to unwind and relax.
Great restaurants, hikes and electric bike rentals were all nearby, we had a great time.
Wonderful place with the best river front yard for relaxing and watching the wildlife while spending time with family. Walked to all sorts of places for delicious food and drinks! Hope we’re fortunate enough to visit again.

The pictures don’t do this amazing Place justice. Great backyard for hanging and watching the river go by. Conveniently located to town. What more could you ask for?

Thanks Bob! I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'll try to take more pictures :-)
We enjoyed a four night mini vacation at Pam's place with our two teenage kids. It was a perfect stay on the river. We brought our own SUP and explored the river up- and downstream, and the kids enjoyed the provided floatables. Pam's property is situated in the most opportune location and gets amazing evening sun. We hope to be back for a future stay!
The location of Pam's house and the backyard could not be more perfect. We were able to have a campfire in the evening and enjoy the river during the day it was truly wonderful.
This house was awesome! The proximity to restaurants and bars was only beat by the view and river access from the backyard. I highly recommend staying here.
Excellent place to stay in Bend. Location is perfect with the river steps from the living room, Old Mill District within walking distance, Les Schwab Amphitheater, Breweries....
Pam was very receptive and prompt in replying to questions. Great owner, great place, enjoy your stay.

WOW!
We stayed here for 4 nights in early July, had a terrific time and recommend this property wholeheartedly. The pictures don't do it justice; this feels like a real home, and not just a rental. The proximity to the river, downtown, and amenities is unbeatable; we walked everywhere. Pam greeted us personally, and was awesome, flexible, and accommodating and her neighbors were super friendly. Book it!

About the host

I've lived in Bend for 25 years. I am a retired business consultant to start-up companies and now I am a professional pickleball player and coach. In the winters I teach in Mexico. In my spare time I like to paddle from my backyard, hike with my dog and get out on my mountain or road bike. I am happy to share my knowledge of all the awesome trails we have here in Central Oregon!
Why they chose this property
I love my hood. It just doesn't get any better than being in the middle of everything and on the river!
