HUNTER'S CABIN, Perfect in every way for your Black Hills getaway, near Custer
We have added Hunter's Cabin on the same property as Stockade Lake Cabin (VRBO #760445) is located. This makes the perfect addition to our already popular cabin when you are traveling with friends or family who need their own separate space and yet want to be near to share meals and good times. Perfect in every way.....Hunter's cabin is perfect size; large enough for two adults, yet smaller than the big cabin, and minus the tv, thus less costly to rent. Logistically to have more than two guests is difficult, unless a small child. With 480 square feet, it has plenty of room to spread out and enjoy, yet cozy for two. Perfect rustic luxury; new queen bed for a good night's sleep, full bath and kitchen, dining area with large windows to enjoy the views, cozy living area with a freestanding fireplace for those chilly evenings or rainy days which can occur at any time, and yet has electric heat to keep an even temperature of your choice. Perfect outdoor spaces; A covered porch across the front of cabin so you can sit out in all weather and enjoy watching deer and sometimes wild turkeys and even see Stockade Lake across the highway. There is an open patio area on other side off the kitchen with outdoor BBQ and seating area. And we have built a fire pit for your use with firewood, hot dog forks and cooking grate furnished. Hunter's cabin is brand new, but built to look like it has been here for a long time, and is nestled in among old-growth ponderosa pines which have been here likely 100 years or more. Perfect nest to return to after a day of fishing in lake, walking or biking on the bicycle path, also just across the road, or a sightseeing drive through Custer State Park with the entrance about 1500 ft up the road. Perfect headquarters for all your day trips through the hills to enjoy the endless points of interest, and only about a 20 minute drive to Mt. Rushmore. Perfect for those who truly want to bring a pet with them as they travel, as we allow one large dog or two small to medium sized pets. There is a modest pet fee charged at the time of booking.

I loved this place! Perfect location for hiking, sightseeing and restaurants. Owner made the cabin feel like home with her hospitality. The cabin had everything I needed. Quiet, private setting. I would plan my next trip to the area around the availability of this cabin.
Everything we needed. Perfect location, quiet, lots of wildlife. Roberta is an Awsome host. Highly recommend Hunters cabin. Brought side by side to ride trails . Needles highway. Iron mountain road ,wildlife loop. Custer is a very accommodating town. Just a super vacation.
We stayed 4 nights, it was the perfect landing spot for Custer and Wind Cave NP. Roberta’s pics of the cabin don’t do it justice. It’s a wonderful place that is well maintained and I would stay there again without a second thought. It was better than advertised. It was also wonderful having laundry available. Thank you, Roberta, we also respected and appreciated the story of your cabins legacy.
Roberta is an amazing host. Hunter's Cabin is beutiful. She provides so many amenities and has thought of everything you might need. She has set bar high for other VRBO hosts. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back.
Peaceful, relaxing cabin with beautiful ambiance. Roberta is a wonderful welcoming host. We enjoyed our stay, great location and have recommended this getaway to our friends!
This was the perfect place for our short vacation - great location for all the interesting spots in the Blackhills, great setup for the 2 of us, very clean, and Roberta was a fantastic host! Not sure we will get back to this area again, but if we do, we will be sure to try and get this cabin again.
Our stay at hunter’s cabin was fantastic. Everything you could need was in the cabin. The host was great and extremely helpful. It was extremely clean. The location is great. We had six deer, five turkeys and a rabbit stop by the last evening we were there.
Marvelous cabin and great location. Roberta is an absolute wonderful host. She is delightfully efficient and accommodating. If we ever get the opportunity to return, she will be the reason why.
We have now stayed at Hunter’s Cabin twice. It is a wonderful cabin for two people. Everything you need for a vacation near Custer State Park. Roberta does a great job prepping the cabin, responding to inquiries and making check-in seamless. Highly recommend this cabin!
The property was a perfect location for my wife and I to see all the main sites in South Dakota. From Devils Tower to Rushmore Crazy horse, Wonderland caves and Custer State Park.
The cabin was very nice and quiet for my stay. Roberta was a great host, she even brought some treats for my first night. I loved the location to everything I was planning to see. My only complaint was that there was a lot of moths that I could not get rid of, however I would stay again as this was a small issue.
Perfect location for the 2 of us for our first visit to the Black Hills. Quiet cabin that has all the comforts of home. Roberta has thought of everything including muffins and fruit. BBQ grill worked great, Hot water quick for shower and bed was very comfortable. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
We loved our stay at this cozy cabin. It was very clean, and a great jumping off spot for our visit to the Mickelson Bike Trail and Custer State Park. Roberta even left some tasty treats for us to enjoy when we arrived. Highly recommended!
Hunter's Cabin was the perfect size and location for our stay. It's close to Custer State Park which was a great plus for us. The cabin itself was so nicely put together and it was clear a lot of care goes into making sure the guests have everything they need. Roberta was so kind and the fresh homemade cinnamon rolls were phenomenal! We are already talking about making our way back to this cabin in the future. Thanks for a great stay!
Roberta's cabin is delightful. The location is perfect, especially if you enjoy Custer State Park. The cabin was clean, well-stocked, and cozy. Roberta is a friendly, helpful hostess. We had a great time.
