Enjoy a quiet location close to town and on paved road. This property sits directly in between the towns of Hill City and Keystone! Have a cup of coffee on the front porch and watch the famous 1880's train roll past you a on its way to Keystone. Come evening have a seat and enjoy the wildlife in the meadow directly below you. Easily run into Hill City or Keystone for dinner or groceries or stay home and grill. A short car ride gets you to all of the major attractions including Mt Rushmore (20 minutes) & Crazy Horse (16 minutes) or go the other direction to Deerfield Lake for fishing and boating. The driveway is a little steep and I have had a few guests have concerns about riding motorcycles up and down. Once up the hill there is ample room to turn around a vehicle but I would recommend not taking your trailer to the top. If you do you will most likely be backing it down. There is however a nice flat spot at the bottom of the hill to park a trailer off the road in a safe location.
This Cabin is located in the middle of all the major attractions most of them being less than 30 minutes away.
If outdoor activity is more your style. There are 3 different lakes within 25 minutes or less, not to mention the the Mickelson Trail just a few minutes away with a trailhead in Hill City. Giving you access to 107 miles of biking and walking.
Hundreds of miles of ATV trails are surrounding this area. Less than a four mile drive gets you to ATV rentals and access to Horse back riding.
We can't wait to share our place with you and hope you fall in love with it like we have.

We had an amazing stay. The layout of the cabin is perfect for spending time together and allowing the kids some space. The kitchen is organized well for fixing dinner. We loved the view and the secluded feeling, but being just a few minutes away from Keystone. We all highly recommend this listing.
We loved the size of the house. 5 adults and we didnt get in each others way. The deck was our favorite. Spent most of our time out there when not sight seeing. A couple issues were light bulbs being burnt out, but we did find the drawer of bulbs, and the little fireplace in the dining room when we turned it on it sparked and started smoking so we unplugged it. Overall the place was great. Centrally located to everything. Loved it and would stay again.
This location was spot on!! The train coming through the meadow in front of the house was a highlight.. even for my twinsWho are 17!! Pool table was clutch for evening competition. Great location with easy access to many different sites!!
The house was awesome and clean the only pros no iron hair dryer and a cooler. Coming also with only a check on these things would of been helpful. Aldo a dish rack b ut our stay was very nice saw wild life from the front porch nice campfire even though we had to get our own wood On a scale of !_10 I would give it a 9.
Had a fabulous time with family. Spent the Thanksgiving weekend with family. Had everything we needed and more. Very clean! Great location. Will stay again.
My family of 5 stayed here for our week of exploring the Black Hills area. The home was very clean, spacious and in a great location to everything we wanted to see. I highly recommend the Whistle Stop. We would definitely stay here again!!
We tried to spend as much time out and about as possible, but the house was a great resting spot. Great location to drive to Hill City, Keystone, and Rapid City and lots of great hiking nearby.
The two boys spent any of their time at the house playing foosball.
This is a great property! Very quiet neighborhood and plenty of room inside and out for our party of 6. Everything was as described in the listing. We enjoyed the games and foosball table with the kids. Driveway is steep but not a problem for our minivan.
We had a wonderful time! The cabin was very nice. It's in the middle of everything we wanted to see so we didn't have a long drive to any location. Comfortable beds, plenty of towels and kitchen items. Thanks for letting us rent your cabin.
Location was close to both Hill City and Keystone which gives you great access to the whole area. The cabin has everything you need..great kitchen and plenty of room to spread out. The owner is responsive and easy yo reach
The location was perfect- centrally located to everything we wanted to do. We love that it was away from the hustle and bustle; but still close to Hill City and Keystone. The house was spacious with plenty of room for us and out three teenagers. They loved playing the Apples to Apples game! We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
This property was perfect for our "Cousin's Weekend" in the beautiful Black Hills! Everything you could want to do is just a short drive away, yet the cabin is remote enough that you still feel like you are getting away from it all. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We mostly enjoyed the spacious living area (2 living rooms) and the large kitchen and dining space. Better than a hotel, by far!
This was the perfect home for our getaway. We (family of 4) traveled with another family (of 3) and the space was plenty & the location couldn't have been better. I also really appreciated that the list of items to be done upon checkout wasn't that extensive. The cabin is so well maintained, the host checked in to make sure things were going well, everything worked & the space was so peaceful. The kind of place we can't wait to rent again!
Property was juat as decribed. We loved the master bedroom. We stuck our teenage girls in there and man what a game changer with the attached bathroom for them to get ready. House was stocked with what we needed and if it wasnt we grabbed from the store. Sitting on the porch and watching the train go by and the wildlife was great. Even had a visit from a husky dog that our teenagers loved. Played with it for a bit and it went on its way. Didnt need to host for much but a slight early check in. He was accommodating. I would recommend this property to friends and family!
This was a great experience, situated near many of the Black Hills attractions. The house was the perfect size for our family of nine. The kids could play outside and teens could spread out comfortably. The house is near the 1880 Train track so we got to see and hear the train pass. It was just far enough away so that it was charming and not obnoxious. The host was very responsive and fabulous to work with.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, only half of our large family group ended up staying at Whistle Stop Cabin. But the half that did were very happy with the house! They raved about the location saying how convenient it was to all the local sites-Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, etc. Brandon was very easy to reach and helpful with the few questions we had. Saw deer from the front porch and enjoyed watching the train go by. Our family definitely recommended this rental in the future.
We enjoyed our vacation! It was our second time at the house. We love the location, and the space in the house is great. My kids really enjoyed playing foosball and pool. They even got grandma to shoot pool with them! Thanks for a lovely stay!
