Everything worked very well for our group of 3 adults. We were out most days seeing the area, and this was a comfortable place to return to, walk a couple of blocks to dinner, and get ready for the next day.

We had an amazing stay at this property in Custer. The hosts were exceptionally easy to contact, making the whole experience smooth and stress-free. The bunk bed bedrooms, while a bit small, were a hit with the kids—they absolutely loved them! The kitchen was very well equipped, and we enjoyed fantastic coffee each morning. One of the highlights was the playground in the public park right outside. It was fantastic to watch the kids play from the deck. The location is perfect—close to anywhere in Custer yet very quiet and peaceful. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and we highly recommend it!

Great home base for Black Hills adventures

The creekside cabin is a lovely spot for family. Cozy decor and thoughtful touches throughout make for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the ability to relax on the deck while the kids enjoyed the playground. Cooking at home kept our costs lower and we enjoyed walking into town for treats. This is the perfect spot from which to enjoy Custer State Park, Wind Cave, and more.

Black Hills Family Vacation

We really enjoyed this cabin with our family of 7 (2 adults and 5 children). The cabin was comfortable and had enough space for all of us. We really enjoyed eating meals out on the deck with the park nearby for the kids to play on. The location was great also. We spent multiple days in Custer State Park, which is close by. Most of what we wanted to do was within a thirty minute drive. The only day we had to do a little extra driving was when we went to Spearfish and Deadwood. There is also a nice trail by the other park further down the street that took us up to a lookout area. It made for a fun evening outting without driving anywhere. Definitely recommend staying at this cabin if you are planning a family vacation in the Black Hills!

Wonderful cabin in a quiet location still close to downtown. The cabin in fairly small, but laid out very well and our family of six never felt cramped. The property was very clean and the hosts were easy to communicate with. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked with the essentials. The kids loved the playground next door

A great centralized location!

This cottage was a perfect central point to many of the things we did in the Black Hills. We loved how it was near a park and we were able to sit on the porch while watching our kids play. It was also in walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The inside was clean, well stocked, and well taken care of. We felt right at home and would recommend this cottage for any looking for a place to stay in the Black Hills!

Close to Town

We appreciated our time at the cabin, having beds for all 6 of us, a working kitchen and close to town. The kids enjoyed the playground close by as well. The one thing I was a bit surprised by was a transformer station/electrical hub by the cabin. There’s a great big tree that blocks most of it, but wasn’t quite as “woodsy” as I had expected 😝. The hosts were very responsive and helpful for our trip.

Cozy, beautiful, country feel

The house was amazing. It was perfect for our family. Next to a creek and a park for the little kids. It has a feeling of being out in the woods, but still only a few blocks off a main street. Family dollar store is within walking distance for anything we forgot. We would strongly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Custer.

SD road trip

We planned a short stay in a few different towns as we drove across South Dakota, ending in Custer. This cottage was perfect for our two night stay and it was a short distance from everything we planned to see. The home had all the little things that we needed but didn’t pack for a road trip.

Family Vacation

We loved the cozy creekside cottage! It was the perfect location for all the great activities in the black hills. The bunk beds were a huge hit for my kids, and lovely they had their own rooms to make sleeping arrangements easy. The playground also made a great way for the kids to wind down inbetween sight seeing. They thought of everything in the cottage to make our stay so relaxing. We would definitely stay again!

Cozy and Quiet

Custer was the perfect spot for us to see all the things the Black Hills has to offer. The cozy cabin was just the right size and had all the things we needed to cook, relax, and play. Favorite pieces of the house: the playground, the throw blankets, oscillating fan in each bedroom, the grill and carport. Top notch stay!

Perfect location

Cute little cottage with the perfect location! Close enough that Main Street Custer is within walking distance, but just enough removed from the main drag that it felt quiet and safe. Playground next door was a big bonus for the kids. House was clean and comfy.

Great Place!

This was the cutest place right out of Custard! We were blocks from the business district, and restaurants. Saw deer the two mornings we were there, and the kids loved the little park right next door. Besides the park, there was a nice shaded front lawn and we had two outside options to sit and watch them play. Maybe 3 blocks from a trail head that gives you some hiking options. Would defiantly come back again!

Cozy cabin

Was very nice place to stay. Did get a little hot at night in the bedrooms but it was very hot outside. Walking distance from main street so we didn't have to drive to go downtown. Little park for the kids right there as well.

About the host

A few years ago my wife and I needed to get away ... just a little breather from the big city. Custer was only 6hrs away so we loaded up the truck and headed up. We were enjoying a relaxing ride on the 1880 train (scenic train ride out of Hill City) when we saw the sign of a house for sale. Just for grins, giggles and dreams we looked up the listing and thought it affordable. We had a 4 day trip planned and it turned into 6 and a contract with a realtor. (Just have to put in a plug here for the most loveable realtor in Custer, Anne Fuchs) Well we loved the place so much we purchased a place for us and a place for others to come and hopefully fall in love with the Black Hills just like we did.

Why they chose this property

Just walking distance from the amenities of Custer City. Quiet park just out front so you can watch the kids play while you are relaxing on the deck. Paved road so your bike won't get stone bruises.

What makes this property unique

I'm not promising but deer mosey through the yard most every day.
