Very Quiet and well kept resort. The cabins were very comfortable and the Caretakers (Peter and Teresa) were amazing. They went out of their way to make sure everyone had a great time.

Hi Joe - It was a pleasure assisting you with your reservation and we hope you come back next year! Teresa and Peter said they really enjoyed meeting you and we all wish you a very happy and safe summer!
Kind regards,
Sam
Management and caretaker were very responsive, friendly and eager to help. Grounds were well cared for and Larch Cabin was surprisingly large enough to comfortably accommodate 4 grown guys. Internet meets minimum requirements, but is not reliable and is not good enough to use for work applications. Might be better that way. :)
Would 100% do it all over again.

Dan and his crew were a pleasure to have at Vintage Vermilion and we hope to see them again soon! We loved hearing about all their fun trail finds while they were with us. We appreciate them leaving the cabin tidy too!
Thank you for your thoughts on the internet service. We have the highest level of internet available in the area and are always looking to improve it, as availability increases!

Deposit?
Honestly, we had a great time while there even though it turned out to cost my family a lot more than we planned. We spent a week in the Larch and rented the boat. But, I paid a hefty deposit which about broke the bank. I thought no big deal, we will get it back in the end, right? Which the property manager said as long as the place is clean, we should. I waited and waited and never received my deposit for a month after our stay. After contacting the property manager, she said that they didn’t have my address and had someone new doing their books. She said she would get the check out right away. The check did come, but was only for 1/3 of the deposit. We spent the final day of our stay cleaning the house and boat, so I’m not sure why I only received 1/3 of it back. I was planning on going back and making it a yearly trip, but not after this. If you stay here, don’t expect your full deposit back. What a scam! I have three children I’m trying to raise and she pulls this.

This guest's only damage deposit was $500 for his boat rental. That was refunded less the cost of fuel and $40 service fee, per his choice of the option of returning with an empty tank. There was no damage deposit on the cabin. This guest instead opted for property damage insurance.
The amount the renter says was a cabin deposit instead was the total cost of the original 3-day cabin rental, later extended to a full week. Now, he seeks a refund of that rental cost paid to VRBO less the amount that was returned to him from the boat damage deposit. This makes no sense.
This negative review based on the alleged deposit issue is ironic in that the guest claims in his reviews that he and his family group totally enjoyed our special spot and caught lots of fish. We have rented for over 20 summers to over a thousand families and never failed to return a damage. This renter does not respond to our calls to explain the matter. We stand on our integrity. We are not going to refund half of the rent for this stay.

There are some pros and cons to this place and a few things to know in advance. Overall it was a good stay and the resort itself is beautiful, but there are a few things that I wish I had known beforehand:
*The resort does not provide towels. It’s not an issue if you know in advance but we had no idea, so we had to drive about 30 mins to Zup’s to buy some.
*the place is very remote and so plan on bringing everything you need or to spend at least an hour total driving. Also, the kitchen is pretty bare so I recommend bringing your own cookware
*the grill is charcoal operated so bring your own charcoal with
*you have to drive through several miles of dirt road to get to the resort. The last stretch was especially bad.
*the boat rental fee on their website does not include gas so you have to purchase that in your own afterwards. Not an issue but just don’t be surprised about it and plan accordingly. We rented the pontoon which was very spacious and fun to use but also cost an extra $150 in gas for a whole day worth of driving (note we covered quite a bit of distance so if you just want to go out a bit into the lake you’ll probably pay a lot less)
*the cabin is really small, so if you are planning on spending a lot of time in the cabin then this may not be the property for you. However the resort has lots of beautiful spaces to use so plan on using those to really make your stay enjoyable
*there were not any nearby major hiking trails that we could find. The closest ones were about a 30 min drive away from the resort
Overall the resort was nice and the staff was really courteous, prompt, and helpful. It’s a good place if you know what to expect and don’t plan on spending a lot of time in the cabin but rather want to relax outdoors in the surrounding area and enjoy the scenic views of lake vermilion
Cabin was clean. Odd sleeping arrangements, good for kids, not so much for couples. Two small single beds and a bunk bed. No couch in living area. Shower is tiny. Backing up to boat launch exceptionally difficult. Pictures on Vrbo site include pictures that are NOT this cabin but the lodge. Not clear. Management friendly. Quiet location. Over priced for cabin size.

Steve, we are puzzled by your review. Larch is our most rented cabin. We had over 100 guests this summer and you are the only one who questioned our rates, which are very competitive. The very first picture on the VRBO site is of Larch and not of the Lodge. It clearly shows two large easy chairs and no sofa. The reason that you had difficulty backing into the boat launch is that you drove down the wrong road with your trailer. You did not use the marked boat launch road which provides an easy launch. A twin bed is twin size. These are normal size twin beds, ample for any adult. The bottom bunk in the other bedroom is a full size bed and not a twin. If you wanted an extra bed, you should have asked the caretaker. We have two brand new, extra-wide, deluxe roll-in beds with 10 inch mattresses and are happy to provide them at no extra charge unless it is to accommodate an extra guest and then there is a small daily charge. We are sorry that your stay this summer did not meet your expectations. We hope you will return and we suggest that you rent Cedar Cabin which has both a queen bed and a sofa.
our stay at Vintage Vermillion was exalt what we what looking for in a long weekend getaway. Larch Cabin was perfect for our family and we loved the peacefulness of the lake.
