Magnificent home on the beach right in Homer city limits, with stunning views of the mountains, ocean, birds and other wildlife. Location is close to Homer Airport, the Homer Spit and downtown Homer - you are close to all activities, but still feel like you are away from it all. Relax on the deck and watch the shorebirds and eagles (this is what we call "Bird TV") and look for whale spouts. Walk down our private road to access the beach in front of the house and go tide pooling or look for interesting shells and rocks. Smell the salty sea air. Magic happens as you start to relax and take in the beauty, listening to the eagles, and spotting a seal or otter in the water.
In Alaska, the custom is to take off your shoes and boots after entering a house, so on the main-floor there is a welcoming mud room with space for footwear and to hang coats. The house has a large Great Room that takes advantage of the spectacular view while cooking, entertaining and more relaxing. We designed the view to mimic the pilot house on a ship, so you feel like you are on the water without getting wet or seasick. Our family is full of mariners, so much of our artwork is of the sea and done by local and family artists. The gourmet kitchen has many amenities and allows the chef to be part of the celebration. On chilly evenings, there is a gas fire pit on the deck to cut the chill, and cozy blankets in the window seat benches.
On the main level, there is a bathroom, walk-in shower/change room and a cedar sauna which are all connected. A new bedroom, with a queen size bed, has been added on the main level. It is suitable for those with mobility challenges, and it also has 2 reclining easy chairs and a quiet view of the wooded area.
On the second level, the master suite with king-size bed and another stunning view of the bay, beach, birds and mountains, is the perfect space to wake up. Why get out of bed? Enjoy coffee or tea in bed while making plans for the day.
Also on the second level, are 2 additional bedrooms (each with a queen-size bed) with partial views of the ocean and the neighboring woods, where moose, porcupine, and coyotes walk; a large bathroom with two-sinks, and separate toilet room; laundry room; library/art area with comfy chairs; and a ginormous play room with indoor pickle ball court, ping pong table, and foosball.
But, there is more. A ship's stair takes you to the top level which has a large bedroom that has a queen-size bed, and a double-size bunk bed with a twin-size top. This bedroom also has a partial ocean view and of the neighboring woods.
The Homer Beach House is our home during the winter months, so we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
