About this property
Charming studio cottage on quiet street with beautiful landscaping and gardens.
Behind one of Paonia's oldest historic homes, you'll find the wonderfully private Studio Cottage.
This spacious studio cottage is nestled in a mature, shady garden with relaxing front porch, a hammock under a grape arbor, and outdoor dining area. Equipped with excellent WIFI, and offering weekly and monthly discounts, it's a wonderful spot for a working vacation.
Waking up to the sounds of birds chirping and wind chimes is complete magic! The cottage is outfitted with everything you could possibly need for a wonderful month, week or weekend in Paonia including a small library of books by local Paonia authors. We DO have good WiFi, but DO NOT have TV.
The cottage is conveniently close to everything that is great about Paonia as downtown is only a five minute walk. There you'll find your choice of great restaurants including the Back Country Bistro, The Living Farm Cafe, The Flying Fork, Louie’s Pizza, and the infamous Revolution Brewery, or attend a movie, concert or yoga class at the wonderful Paradise Theatre or Blue Sage Center for the Arts.
Tour the numerous local wineries which are within a 10 -15 minute drive from the cottage, or take a leisurely drive through the valley to see all the bounty and beauty of our many organic farms and orchards. Great hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding and world-class trout fishing are all within easy reach.
Paonia boasts fantastic musicians, writers, artists and craftspeople along with many festivals such as Cherry Days in July, Mountain Harvest Fest in September, and a local film festival in early Spring.
While visiting Paonia and the North Fork Valley, you will experience some of the most spectacular scenery in Western Colorado; the Black Canyon National Monument, Grand Mesa, West Elks Scenic Byway, the historic mining towns of Redstone and Marble, and both Kebler and McLure passes are all within an hour and a half drive. Crested Butte, Telluride and Aspen are 2 to 2-1/2 hours from Paonia.

About the host
Hosted by Greta and Kevin

We are Greta - lover of gardens and painting landscapes, and Kevin - avid cloud watcher and reader of historical biographies, and daughters Marea and Grace. As city-dwellers, we love to retreat to Paonia where the pace is slower, the people kinder, and the pleasures of this sweet artistic town an endless delight.
Why they chose this property
Greta discovered Paonia thirty years ago when her sister moved here to write for the High Country News. We bought this house a few years back, hoping to eventually return here full time and re-connect with extended family.
What makes this property unique
The cottage feels so connected to the private garden, evening breezes and morning birdsong. We love tracking the shade through the day - outdoor breakfast in the cool of the morning, reading a book on the sofa under the crabapple tree, a nap on the hammock under the grape vine after lunch and seeking refuge from afternoon rainstorms on the front porch! We love having family and friends over for long, lazy outdoor dinners with locally grown produce and wines.
