The Hummingbird House ...On The Farm

Ideal for family getaway or quiet retreat. The house features three outdoor seating areas for watching the hummingbirds or relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Hike or bike on 1300 private acres. Located in the center of the Potomac Highlands, we are near historic Greenland Gap, Dolly Sods, Smoke Hole, Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley and two commercial caverns. Sportsmen will enjoy two trout streams within four miles of the property. The kids will enjoy our private bass pond. Just bring your gear. If the dates you desire are not available, please consider our other property The Lazy Bear at Dolly Sods.

The Hummingbird House was fantastic! We were in town for a baseball tournament in Petersburg and this was the perfect place for 2 families of 4! The kids loved the big back yard, cornhole, fishing in the pond and hot tub while the parents enjoyed sitting around the fire. The outdoor space is amazing! There was also a delicious loaf of pepperoni roll on our arrival. The owner Tanya stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed.

Another amazing stay

Our second time back. We were hoping for a bit warmer weather but that didn’t keep us from having a great time. The home is fitting for both our families. Enough space to spread out and still spend plenty of time together. Love all the outdoor areas to explore, even on the property. It will be hard to find another home like this on our next excursion

First off, the owner was fantastic. She was so helpful and caring. The house was awesome and at a great Location. The house has everything you need from towels and to bed linen. We would do this again. 5 Stars

Perfect Stay!

The Hummingbird House was beautifully decorated and absolutely immaculate! It was definitely the cleanest rental I have ever stayed in. The Christmas tree was a lovely touch. Trent was very responsive and checked in on us to make sure that we had everything we needed. We went cross country skiing, to Timblerline Ski Resort and hiking. Much needed peaceful and fun getaway. We hope to go back again!

Remarkable rental in unbeatable WV natural location

We would like to endorse every positive previous review referring to the exceptional cleanliness and comfort of this vacation home and the kind attention of the friendly proprietors, Trent and Tonya! As many have stated, the home's interior and exterior are well equipped and comfortable, and the landscape of the 1,300-acre farm (lots of birdlife) is gorgeous and walkable. Just as important is this rental's proximity to absolutely unbeatable WV beauty. Within a short distance, you will find excellent and scenic fishing locales, including Greenland Gap and a stocked pond right on the property. The country roads for many miles around are as pretty as we have ever seen in WV. If you want to venture farther, Rt 48 is a short distance away to get you where you need to go, with fine destinations like Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge for hiking, birding and fishing, and The Trough near Romney for kayaking and eagle-sighting.

Fun Bike Week

The stay was excellent, the house was very clean with all the things that you would need. The views were fantastic and sitting around the fire at night made the day even better. If you want to get away and enjoy the view and relax, then this is the place for you. The hosts were fantastic, I have stayed in a number of places, but the host Tonya goes out of her way to make you stay the best. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Family stay for wedding

Property was IMMACULATE! Everything was top notch from the towels to the linens to the kitchen being well stocked! Owners were lovely and gave tips to get where we were going and local waterfalls as well as a fantastic well stocked bass pond. This place is amazing!!

Beautiful Potomac Highlands farm

Very clean and loved farm house that is perfect for enjoying by itself and/or exploring the surrounding Potomac Highlands. Fun bass fishing for kids and nature / wildlife abound. Thanks!

Absolutely perfect!

We just spent a week at the property and couldn’t be more pleased. The house was spotless and we had plenty of room for 4 adults and 4 teenagers. It was the perfect combination of relaxation and having stuff to do within a short drive. Trent and Tonja were amazing hosts! I will be recommending this place to others.

Great getaway!

Stayed here for two nights with four friends and had a wonderful time. Really easy to find. The outdoor hottub was lovely. And the space overall was really nice and relaxing. Fully stocked pots, pans, and dishes. Just what we needed. And the communication with the hosts was excellent. They even left a complementary loaf of bread for us! Would absolutely return.

We are ready to move in for good

We vacationed here with 4 adults and 6 kids from 11-infant This was the getaway we needed The house was lovely but it honestly was even better than the pictures The cleanliness was obvious, you could even smell how clean things were all the way down to the linens The house was stocked with things we didn’t even think would come with a VRBO home The location of the home allowed us to explore the surrounding area and bike ride with our families The owner Trent was so hospitable He even took us on a tour of the property We loved visiting black water falls and Albert falls We have already decided to return to this same house but in September when the weather is warm enough to dip our toes in the creeks Trent, thank you for the most incredible place to stay without 2 families Your accommodations were the best we’ve ever received !
