Formerly an art colony, Elephant Cottage was built more than 75 years ago and has recently been remodeled while preserving the natural charm and wood features.

Funky place
If you like funk, this is the place. Lots of artifacts related the name "Elephant Cottage". The place felt cluttered. The kitchen was small and under equipped with basics like eating utensils and plates. The main reason I chose it was the exceptionally fast internet connection.

Lovely Cottage in the Woods
This is a very nice cottage and was a very pleasant stay for us (2 couples + dog + toddler). It has everything you could need for proximity to the Catskills/Woodstock area. The personality throughout is also quite nice. Few things to note - 1. The neighbors are quite close, so it's not a place for loudness or letting a dog run around. 2. The private road up to the cottage is a bit rocky and can be tough on smaller cars. 3. The damage deposit is very steep and carrying that much charge on a card for a month or more is not going to be an option for many people. That said, this is a very nice place for the region.

A native of London, I grew up in Kenya, East Africa. As Founder of Reputation Dynamics, I am a community girl working on the front lines of social, environmental and humanitarian change. I believe 'Living with Purpose' is essential for enjoying life. I fell in love with this little cottage, the beautiful setting and abundance of nature. I look forward to sharing my passion for Elephants, my paintings and wisdom they bring. I am an avid traveler, lover of nature and cultural pursuits. Life is too short and must enjoy every minute, be active members of thriving communites.

Why they chose this property

I was seeking an authentic home in nature and wildlife, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Yet, close enough to enjoy the wonderful leisure and outdoor activities and food experiences that Woodstock and Bearsville has to offer. This house has a great energy and spirit along with its rich history of being an artist retreat in the 1930s, I have had such fun sprucing it up and protecting many of the original features of the house.

What makes this property unique

The large living window, the light and calmness, surrounded by trees and nature. Original pine floors and magnificent blue stone chimney, make it an authentic, charming experience.
