About this property
National Historic home w/ Serene & Quiet Setting
Originally founded in the 1600's, Abington Farm, a.k.a Abbington Manor & Stables, is a historic home and stables in Crownsville, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States.
Abbington Manor's East Wing (The East Wing is the left side of the residence in the main picture) overlooks the surrounding pastures and horses of Abbington Stables. A small pond rests to the east of the home. From the calls of the cardinals, blujays, goats, and chickens in the morning to the silence of deer and foxes in the evening, this property offers a serenity and quiet not typically found this close to so many metropolitan centers.
Abbington's stately but relaxed setting offers a get away from the business of life. If you decide to enjoy any of the local amenities of DC, Annapolis, or Baltimore, then take advantage of the fact that you're only a short drive to most anywhere you want to go.
Come and enjoy what so many others over the centuries have come to enjoy about Abbington, yet be centrally located to so much:
- 15 minutes from Baltimore/Washtington International Airport.
- 20 minutes from Ft. Meade.
- 30 Minutes to Baltimore's waterfront harbor.
- 15 minutes to Annapolis
- 25 minutes to Washington DC.
- Within an hour of 3 major airports (BWI, Reagan National, Dulles).
* As of March 2021, we've updated the residence with a 3 stage commercial water filtration system!

About the host
Hosted by Aaron & Angela Buehler

We've been blessed to be able to take care of such a unique, historic and beautiful property. We, along with our boys, love Abbington and believe you will too.
Why they chose this property
After receiving a Charter from King Charles I, Lord Baltimore (who married Anne Arundal) gifted the property of Abington to John Gaither of local fame and notoriety (founder of Gaithersburg). The property was given to Gaither around 1640 by Lord Baltimore. The house sits facing the main road which was once an Indian trail through the region. The main house is a 2 ¹⁄₂-story frame, side-passage, double-pile house with additions on both gable ends. The main block dates from about 1840. Steps in the cellar date back all the way to the early 1600's! On the properties are several outbuildings, including a stone and frame ice house, a frame, brick, and stone springhouse/dairy, a frame privy, chicken house, tool shed, a corncrib, a large, elaborate frame stable; and a frame tenant house. Abbington is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Maryland Historic Trust.
