About this property
Views of Burke Mountain / Family Friendly / Willoughby Lake / Kingdom Trails
Welcome to Burke Nest! Our place combines the charm and warmth of a traditional Vermont farmhouse with a modern sensibility for open space, natural light, and bold color accents.
This house was purchased and lovingly restored by a group of three friends with a passion for design and the outdoors. In the original 19th century part of the house you find four cozy bedrooms and a sitting parlor. The kitchen and dining areas, newly rebuilt, are part of an open-concept space with lots of windows, a giant sliding glass door onto a large deck, and a high-end modern chef's kitchen.
Kids especially love the quirkiness of the house, and the kids' room is connected to a bold red bridge above the kitchen where they can overlook the action.
The babbling river that borders our 5 acres makes for a very pleasant soundscape, and a cooling summer dip.
The large deck with its expansive views of Burke Mountain, the Passumpsic River, and cows grazing in the distance is perfect for your summer holiday.
There are plenty of nooks away from the main area, where one can find some peace and quiet to read a book.
The house is located on the edge of the small village of West Burke, less than 10 minutes from Burke Mountain and the famous mountain biking Kingdom Trails to the south, and to the stunning Willoughby Lake to the north.
A cozy TV area has access to Netflix and other streaming services.
Note/disclosure: We have one web enabled security camera on the property, located outdoors by the entrance/parking area.

Beautiful home and property with plenty of room for our family biking/hiking weekend. Everything was clean, kitchen well stocked, comfortable beds. I would love to come back!
We had the best weekend away! The house is so cute and well stocked. The town is adorable and of course the lake is gorgeous! We would totally come back!
We absolutely loved our stay at The Nest. It was all very clean, had plenty of space for 4 adults and to children to sleep and spread out. The views are unmatched and we enjoyed a few quick walks down to the creek. We will definitely be back!
A group of us shared this space for two nights while we did some ice climbing on Mt Pisgah. Lots of beds, well stocked, great location! Highly recommended.
Perfect location for family biking holiday at Burke
Well equipped, beautiful space and great location, close to all the best Burke has to offer to mountain bikers. My family and our friends had an awesome week here. Kitchen is fantastic, storage shed for bikes, good wifi, and great living spaces. Couldn't ask for more.
Check-in was easy.House needs a refresh in terms of interior paint, area rugs, painted wood floors.Overall, could use a deep clean (especially fridge which we did ourselves and upstairs shower door track, etc.)Great stereo, quiet neighborhood, river sound behind house beautiful!

Gorgeous Rennovated Farmhouse
We stayed here with a small group of friends for a weekend of cross country skiing and winter adventures. The home was absolutely beautiful — clean and so thoughtfully furnished and stocked with everything you’d need. (We really appreciated all of the kid stuff!) The love that was put into the space is very apparent! We hope to come back again soon!
The house lived up to its billing and our three-generational family (and friend) had a lovely peaceful week here, exploring the area and relaxing in the space and gathering blackberries for breakfast every morning. The hiccup at the beginning (arriving to find the house hadn’t been cleaned/cleared after the unexpected last guest) was soon rectified. We would have like more clothes hanging space and towel rails and maybe a step to reach the top kitchen shelf for those of us less than six feet tall (it’s where the lemon squeezer was hiding!). And it would have been good to have a board on which to rest one of the many 1000 piece jigsaws. But overall a perfect stay.
Good house for a skiing vacation for an extended family group. Ample space for bedrooms (the linens were a high quality and a nice touch). Aside from some cleaning issues on arrival- looked like cleaning person didn't complete the prior cleaning service with lots of dog hair left on stairs and downstairs bedroom / bathroom, the house was exactly as pictured. There is a neighbor who came to check in on us several times and help us out working a few quirky things - like the touch faucet in kitchen and how to lock / unlock the front door easily. Good communication with the owner throughout. We appreciated all the info in the house 'manual' and used many of the suggestions for activities and restaurants. We also enjoyed the puzzles and games. If you are a family that likes to watch a movie together that was the one negative, the TV room was small and upstairs by the bedrooms. The house is beautifully restored and unique. Location is good for access to Burke Mountain for skiing.
Stayed here with a small group of adults. It was a charming home with a great kitchen to cook and hang together. The property is great, with a nice deck to enjoy the view of the mountains, fields and even a few cows - with a cup of coffee. Just a short drive to Lake Willoughby and lots of hiking. We actually hiked to Mt. Pisgah summit to get married! And this was a lovely place to come back to afterwards.
We enjoyed playing in the river with our grandchildren, floating homemade boats, dancing on the deck and shooting stomp rockets on the grassy area. The well stocked kitchen and large dining table were much appreciated. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the mix of old farmhouse and newly renovated spaces.
We rented this home for a family get together. We really loved the thoughtful design of the home. The house is an older farmhouse with a new wing that connects it to an existing garage space. The new wing contains the kitchen and gathering space connected to a walkout deck with river and mountain views. It is a great space and the kitchen, in particular, was fantastic for a family that enjoys cooking together. We would love to go back there sometime and we recommend it very highly.
We had a few little issues checking in, but Ethan responded very quickly to solve those things for us. The property is very interesting and the interior is quaint . It's a great spot for gathering and talking while making the meal and eating. Lots of nice linens and towels, great kitchen. We were there for skiing and it was perfect. Would like to stay again during the summer or fall!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the West Burke Modern Farmhouse. The house has wonderful light and head space, especially in the main living area (kitchen, dining, sitting) – makes one happy to be up and ready for the day. The big deck lets one sit immersed in that beautiful expanse of countryside and sky, and in the company of the lively stream. Private from the road, public to nature. The occasional voices of cows and other farmyard animals are a lovely punctuation to the lighter sounds of trees, breeze, and industrious insects. The glass doors (beautiful in and of themselves) give generous access to the outside from the inside too. Everything was comfortable and very clean, the kitchen extremely well-equipped for a rental space, and the choice of objects and furniture appealing. While we had our own reading along, there were plenty of interesting options at the house if you don’t. The hike up Pisgah offers an especially stunning and serene view from the Western Outlook point, and biking options in the region abound, even beyond the Kingdom Trails.
We had a great time and are grateful to the owners for sharing their home.

Thank you! We are so happy to hear that you had a great time at our place. You've noticed many of the things that we agree make it special and written about them better that we could have. All the best to you!
Very cool place to stay in the Burke, VT area. We felt like part of the little community which is not something I’ve ever experienced staying in any other VRBO property. Friendly neighbours and friendly pup across the street to throw sticks for. The house is large, clean and quite unique with plenty of space for our group of four. It was well stocked with all the essentials for cooking and tidying up. Sound system with Bluetooth was a nice touch. We were there for mountain biking in the Kingdom Trails. We did have to drive for 5 minutes to get to the trails but they are so close no one minded. Thank you for having us.
Lovely modernized farmhouse which provided nicely for our family gathering. The large kitchen was especially handy for preparing lots of food for the wedding at Willoughby Lake.
Location is very convenient and easy to get to from the main roads. Would be very cozy for skiing season.
We were very pleased overall, the owner was available and their manager across the street was very helpful, especially when we initially struggled to open the box to get the keys.
Would recommend to others.
This property truly has it all, an amazing speaker system, grill, and a great layout that meant all of our friends staying at this location had an amazing time in Vermont. The commercial grade stove and oven was perfect for us to host a small get together and friend reunion. This place was perfect , clean, tidy and in a easy to find location. We loved our stay here !
