We were in New Orleans to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The accommodations were excellent, clean and comfortable, close to the cable car and adequate parking. We got to enjoy some beautiful sites and wonderful food. Lovely property, gracious host, that made our stay memorable.
The unit was very clean and the location was very close to the streetcar. The lock to get into the main door worked very well after we learned how to use it (had to push check mark after inserting the code) from the neighbor upstairs.we had no problem finding a parking spot near the condo.
We had a wonderful stay at Del's property in New Orleans! It's a beautiful, elegant, roomy space, nicely located in the Garden District right near the St Charles trolley line. The king-sized bed is very comfortable. One touch we really appreciated is the drop down ironing board in the kitchenette. Very helpful when you want to freshen up your clothes on a longish stay. Del was very responsive and helpful to any questions we had. We hope to be able to return someday.
The property was comfortable and well-maintained and we appreciated the proximity to the streetcar line. I’d recommend it to anyone staying in the Garden District!
Spacious accommodation in a wonderfully restored mansion. Great location - just blocks away from the streetcar and neighborhood restaurants. Proximity of the streetcar made it possible for us to explore and meet friends without using our rental car. Our destination on our next trip to NOLA.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
Del Marsalis was a great host. I had the opportunity to sit with him and had a fascinating conversation about him and his remarkable family, one of the premier musical families of a great American musical city. The apartment had everything a visitor could want all with a great location.
Very nicely appointed property. We initially had some concerns with some surrounding properties when we first arrived, but we had no issues. People we met on the streets were friendly. Accommodations are somewhat cramped for 2 people with luggage since there is not much storage space. Very clean. Kitchen space is very limited.
I never received any contact from the host. I emailed prior to the stay asking about an early check in with no reply. When we got there, we had to ask other guests how to get in to the house because the phone number listed wouldn't connect.
The house was great, but the communication with the host could use major improvements.
We loved this place and the neighborhood. Friendly people and impromptu concerts in the parking lot!
Especially appreciate the host letting us change our reservations when a family member became ill. Would definitely stay here again.
Room was clean and beautiful, only about 2 blocks away from the street car which was perfect for getting around NOLA! Only cons are that the windows let in a lot of light in the bedroom in the mornings and you can easily hear other residents. The people above us were up at around 9 am so we were too. Obviously that's completely personal preference thing, but in case you're like me and like to sleep in, I recommend bringing a noise machine and an eye mask. Everything was absolutely perfect and we would 100% rebook here!
The suite was clean, comfortable and perfectly located for Jazzfest. Several great restaurants within 5 minutes, short walk to either the bus or the ST Charles streetcar line.
The hosts were available to answer questions for me as I was planning the visit.

About the host
Hosted by Del & Trena Marsalis
I'm a modern jazz trombone-playing producer who spends time traveling and teaching kids music and musical theatre. I've been on the road since the age of 18, so I know what it's like to be away from home and need comfortable accommodations. Spent time traveling the states, S. America, Europe, Japan, and S. Africa playing with legendary jazz musicians as well as my own groups.
Born and raised in New Orleans, I've lived in this house for 25+ years. Watched New Orleans transform both before and after Hurricane K. A saints fan for life...who dat!
I've got 5 brothers, 1 wife and 1 daughter, so I try to treat everyone who stays like family. If you want constant communications, suggestions or referrals, we've got you covered. Or if you just want a place to lay your head, chill and be left alone, it's all good!
My wife Trena does the decorating and I am admittedly obsessed with renovating. Just like the brand of music I play, I love mixing the old school with the modern. The natural look of wood finish is also a favorite, so just about all of the interior doors in the house are stained and finished, not painted.
My keys to life: Love, respect and good old common sense!
Why they chose this property
Twelve and a half foot ceilings, hardwood floors, wood trim, old school majesty...what's not to love!
