About this property

An Oceanfront Cottage with Stunning Views and Direct Beach Access

Completely renovated in 2018, this oceanfront log cottage with wraparound deck, large windows, separate viewing platform and pebble beach access oozes seaside charm. Relax by the wood burning fireplace, prepare fresh meals in the new open-concept kitchen (all stainless-steel appliances including dishwasher, quartz countertops and porcelain apron-front sink). Serve up to six at the dining table which features views of the ocean in two directions. Go to sleep in fresh new beds and linens with the soothing sound of the surf. The master bedroom has a queen bed; the loft can be set up as either a king bed or two twins. Small children can sleep on a sofa in the loft or the main sofa in the living room. Ideal for two couples; two adults with two older children and/or two younger children. The all-new bathroom features a deep tub, subway tile and in-floor heating. The large loft includes a sofa and table for puzzles and games or working on your laptop.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean in the private one-acre garden. The view to the southwest is the Olympic Peninsula and mountains, Washington State. The view along the scalloped coast to the northwest is out to the open Pacific Ocean. Whales (grey, humpback, minke and orcas) can occasionally be spotted – migration is between March and October. Sea lions, harbour seals and otters will often rest/play on the rocks along the shoreline. Weasels/rabbits/raccoons and occasionally black bears will pass through the yard. Many birds such as eagles, osprey, jays, loons, robins, kingfishers, gulls and of course our namesake wrens, nest and feed on the property or nearby.

The cottage is perfect as a romantic retreat or a nature lover’s getaway. We have hosted micro-weddings, elopements, honeymoons and anniversaries. It is a great home base for those wishing to hike the nearby Trails (West Coast and Juan de Fuca Trails), to explore the amazing beaches just a stone’s throw away, or to check-out the many attractions in Port Renfrew, Jordan River, Sooke and Victoria.

There is a new automatic power back-up system to ensure your comfort during any disruption in power, as can occur on the Island from time to time.

Note also that there are security cameras on the exterior of the Cottage to allow for investigation of any large property burglaries but there are NO interior cameras and recordings are only viewed in the case of a break-in/burglary.
You must notify us in advance if guests other than those listed on the booking will be joining you (maximum of 4 adults).
NOTE - we are sorry but we cannot offer exceptions to the no pets policy - we have family members and regular guests with severe allergies

This property is stunning. Views to the south to the Olympic mountain range and West towards Port Renfrew. Cozy little 2 bedroom cabin with full kitchen and bathroom with everything you need for your getaway. The hosts are extremely friendly and help make your getaway special. Lots of hiking in the area although we chose to relax in front of the wood fireplace. Thank you and we will be back! :)

Wonderful getaway
This is a wonderful property on the coast of Vancouver Island. The home is clean and modern with all the conveniences. The fireplace kept us warm and cozy during some chilly days. Perfect place to relax your cares away. Would (and will) visit again.

Beautiful location and excellent amenities
It was a very pleasant stay. We enjoyed our stay. Saw an owl on the first day and a beautiful rainbow on the second day. The place has all the amenities and is a good escape from the chaos of the city

Cozy with Character
We stayed 4 nights in this lovely log cottage. It was spotless and well stocked, and we liked all the interesting objects around the cottage. The wood heater made it very cozy and warm, with tons of ambience. We enjoyed sleeping in the queen bed in the main floor bedroom, and were very impressed with the loft area, which is huge and well furnished. The views surrounding the living and dining area were spectacular. There was some highway noise, but it was very quiet at night. It's a very special spot, and we appreciate the owners sharing it.

About the host

Our family (the Keffers) has owned and loved this property since 1981. We have spent wonderful family vacations and made many memories here. We have picked shells on the beach, tended the garden, hiked the trails, fished for crab and visited the local sights. Inside the cottage we have prepared and enjoyed delicious food, played board games, read great books, watched ships and whales go by, and had light conversations by the fire.

A total renovation was completed in 2018 with the aim of making this precious place available to others for happy memory-making as well.

Why they chose this property

This wild part of the west side of Vancouver Island is a nature-lover's dream. Old growth forest meets crashing ocean waves. Sandy and rocky beaches, stunning sunsets and mossy forests. An abundance of wildlife. Fresh air, sunshine and storms. Our one acre property is a microcosm of the broader ecosystem.

What makes this property unique

The property offers 1 acre of private grounds and beautiful views several directions and many vantage points (including a viewing deck) given its position on a point as well as access to a secluded beach via steps directly from the property.
