Seaside A-Frame Cabin with Barrel Sauna near French Beach

Welcome to Seaside Cabin — a peaceful oceanfront retreat nestled in the lush rainforest of Shirley, BC, just a 10-minute stroll to French Beach Provincial Park. This 4-bedroom retreat sleeps up to 8 guests (although much better suited for 6 guests) and offers expansive ocean views, brand new barrel sauna, wood burning fireplace, and curated local touches. Whether you're storm-watching by the fire or wandering on driftwood beaches, this is West Coast relaxing at its finest.

The space
Step inside our cozy west coast cabin and you'll find floor-to-ceiling windows, natural wood finishes, and a layout made for both gathering and retreating.

- 4 Bedrooms (2 king bedrooms upstairs, 2 bedrooms with double beds on the main floor - all with brand new Endy mattresses)

- 1 Bathroom, including a deep soaker tub

- Fully equipped kitchen for cooking and entertaining

- Wood fireplace for cozy board game nights in

- Spacious deck with BBQ and lounge seating

- Barrel sauna with ocean view

- A path that leads you to the cliff tops of the ocean with panoramic ocean views.

- Only a 10 minute walk to French Beach Provincial Park, and 6 minute walk to Flea Beach.


Other things to note:
- The cabin is not child-proofed. We bring our toddlers here, but do so with close supervision. If you're traveling with children, please plan accordingly.

- The stairs to the upper bedrooms are steep - these are not suitable for young children and those who have mobility challenges.

- The upper bedrooms are loft style with openings to the A-frame

- There is no direct beach access from the cabin.

Our stay was perfect! The house was adorable and perfectly located for what we wanted to do. French beach and flea beach were both very short walks from the house and offered great beach wandering, sunsets and sunshine. The real star was the view from the deck where we saw humpbacks, seals and even an orca playing in the waves. It was incredible. We hope to visit again!My only small feedback is that the owner sent some really useful packing tips, but not until the morning we were arriving. We wish we had known earlier to bring some of the things they had suggested as it would have been useful - especially the binoculars!

Love the quiet tranquility of the area AND the ease of access to great hiking, coffee, restaurants and sights! Cabin was exceptionally clean and very well stocked with local products, linens and towels. The sauna is easy to use and a great stop to relax after a long hike or day of ocean fishing. Our grandparents who live in the area came for lunch one afternoon and the kitchen is small but well stocked, it had everything we needed!

For 6 people staying a week (who had no intention or desire to go out shopping during that period) there is very limited space for food storage with one very small fridge freezer and no storage cupboard. The stove is very old, only 3 rings work and the temperature unreliable in the oven. The beds and shower facilities are very good. Limited comfortable seating for 6 people. Great walking access to 2 beaches, wonderful views over the strait - we were lucky to frequently have deer and fawns visiting & frequently see the humpback whales - at a fair distance out.

The cabin was exactly as advertised. Very comfortable and well equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The views were spectacular with ships and sea life that could be seen from the deck or even the couch. We had deer visit us each day as well. Beds were very comfortable. Hope to visit again someday.
