country casual home near Newberg, gateway to Willamette Valley wine country
The guesthouse is a large, comfortable home just a few miles from Newberg, Oregon, a gateway town to Oregon's Willamette Valley wine country. It has been owned by the same family since the late 1950's and is located on the family's 200 acre farm. The farm's main crops are Oregon's signature nut, the hazelnut (also known as filbert) and pinot noir grapes. The house, though not fancy, is spacious and comfortable, and has been popular with guests for several years, especially visitors to nearby vineyards and tasting rooms who are interested in relaxing in a more rural, private environment after a day of touring. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking meals and there are several indoor and outdoor locations for eating and relaxing. The upstairs of the two story house has a large master bedroom with king sized bed and small deck overlooking lawn, garden and horse pasture. Please inquire about a reduced rate for use of the master only for 1-2 persons. The middle bedroom is not as large, has a king sized bed, and windows with views of farmland to the south. The third upstairs bedroom has a double bed (smaller than a queen, so the possible maximum occupancy of 8 may actually be 7 if two people don't wish to share a double bed). It also has a deck. The three upstairs bedrooms share a recently remodeled bathroom wth a sower and double sinks. The downstairs bedroom is fairly small, with two twin beds. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. There are two eating areas, one right off the kitchen and a larger one in a separate dining room. As the home is on a working farm, it is suited for adults over 25. We have several horse boarders who visit and feed their horses in the afternoons. We have a designated trail for walkers which travels up to and through the vineyard, then along a pond. It's about 1.5 miles. There is ample parking and there is a carport with access to the back door through a "mud room" to the kitchen. There is a TV room which has comfortable chairs and sofa and the TV has satellite reception. The sunken living room has two comfy chairs, a sofa and a fireplace.

This place is a gem in the Newberg area. It truly is set apart in the country but only a 10 minute drive to city services and lots do to within a 30 minute drive. We appreciated the quiet country setting with the place to ourselves.
Great spot for a weekend in Oregon wine country..a group of 4 couples attending a wedding fit nicely. Despite the 100 degree heat, the a/c worked well and everyone was comfortable. The bocce court an added bonus!

Thank you. You guys were good sports about the unusually hot weather and I appreciate how you left things in such good order.
Lovely home with everything you would need for a great stay. There are horses on the property which are fun to watch. The hot tub for 2 is awesome. You are centrally located and easy to get to nearby Newberg and wine vineyards. The host was great and provided us with everything we needed for a enjoyable stay.

This house was a perfect retreat as our extended family visited Newberg to celebrate a George Fox graduate. Thank you Maria for being such a great hostess and sharing your wonderful property. The house is cozy comfortable and had plenty of space. The grounds are tranquil and beautiful. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for the kind words. Your timing was excellent- warm and sunny Spring weather brought out the best in the farm's landscape. You and your family were wonderful guests. Congratulations on the new graduate!
Very cool place, off the beaten path on a farm which is perfect for us. We stayed almost too busy, didn't have much time to just relax on this pastoral property. Did play Bocci one evening. Fun. Will think about this property for an extended family trip in the future.

Thank you very much. We’re so glad your family had a good time.
I hate to leave this - but I feel I should. I would have hoped someone had for me. The place was filthy. The jacuzzi was Green - YES green! Dirt and dead bugs all around the house, mold in the coffee pot, we had to make our own beds - find sheets etc. The comforter was stained, carpet is stained, toilets all stained with rings around them. Old Razors and used soap bars in the showers. I would never stay there again!

I was expecting a nasty review after the calls and texts I got. I'll just say a couple of things. 1. The house was being closed up for the season. Guest wanted to stay and said it was for 2 people. Assuming a couple, the master bedroom was made up and thoroughly cleaned. Sheets in other bedrooms were put away for season. I had no idea a daughter and son were joining her, so 2 more rooms. There was no choice but to explain where the sheets were stored. 2. The hot tub was crystal clear all summer including the day before they came. I had already given a discount because of my mistaken belief only the master needed to be made up. With the additional complaints, I eliminated a night's rent. When she said she would consider not writing a bad review if I gave her half off, I started to wonder if this was a questionable situation. Clearly all the other reviews were very positive. Hosts beware.
I had the pleasure of staying at this eclectic VRBO property, and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The moment I stepped inside, I was immediately captivated by the unique and charming decor. Each room seemed to have its own personality, filled with interesting knick-knacks that added to the overall character of the place.
One of the standout features of this property was its impeccable cleanliness. From the pristine bathrooms to the spotless kitchen, it was evident that the hosts take great pride in maintaining a high standard of hygiene. As a guest, this made me feel instantly at ease and comfortable.
Speaking of comfort, this property surpassed all expectations. The bedrooms boasted cozy beds with fresh linens, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep after a day of exploring the nearby vineyards. The living area was inviting, with plush sofas and a large TV.
Beyond the interior, the property also had a lovely outdoor space. I enjoyed sipping my morning coffee on the quaint patio, surrounded by lush greenery and enjoying the tranquil ambiance.
The hosts were fantastic as well. They were attentive, responsive, and had thoughtfully provided a detailed guide to the area, recommending local restaurants and activities that made my stay even more enjoyable.
In conclusion, if you're looking for an eclectic, clean, and comfortable place to stay, I wholeheartedly recommend this VRBO

Beautiful surroundings but not in good shape
The house is quite large, well furnished and comfortable for a group. Good kitchen! The exterior (decks, lawn furniture. etc.) were not maintained or clean _ we scrubbed them to be able to enjoy the outside. Other issues were bothersome - hot tub could never be hot because the temperature was set.too low.
This beautiful home nestled in the country side was such a great place for me and the family to get away from the busy city and just relax and connect with each other.

Thank you very much. So glad you had a relaxing visit with your family.
The guesthouse get away was amazing. Great rooms, beautifully laid out. Great common rooms, wonderful grounds. And all within a stone's throw from Newberg, Woodburn, and McMinnville. Great spot! And Maria was quick to respond to questions and was an excellent host. - Thank you so much!

Thank you for the nice comments. Glad you enjoyed your visit to the area. Hope to see you again.
Stayed here for a Bachelorette ladies weekend with a group of gals. The property was as described and the house was comfortable and we felt right at home. Close enough to downtown area and to local wineries for us to got out and celebrate for part of the day. But we also really enjoyed just being on the property, walking the nature trail, watching horses and cats stroll by the window, etc.
My group of college girlfriends really enjoyed staying here. The house is old and quirky and we loved it. Plenty of space for the 8 of us. Terrific communication from Maria. Very quiet location yet close to wineries in Newberg. It’s not fancy or updated, but that was fine with us. We loved the charm! Thanks for a great stay at the old farmhouse!!!
We loved staying here! It’s a big, cozy house, a bit older but feels quite comfortable. We were impressed by the amount of shared space downstairs and the outdoor decks and spent most of our time out there! We ended up with 7 guests and that is the max I would recommend for the number of beds, as the host suggested. This was a quick drive to Newberg but I would recommend having a car to get around to vineyards, or booking a tour, which is what we did!

Thank you for your very nice comments. Glad you had a good stay.
Communications were excellent. The property was just stunning. So many places around the grounds to relax and hang around. Great for our group of friends celebrating my recent engagement. We didn't mind it, but for future renters, be mindful of the two bathroom situation. True fairyland!! We can't wait to come back!
Situated in a beautiful setting, this home had lots of space for the six of us. The only drawbacks were pet hairs and just one bathroom upstairs for 5 of us. We really enjoyed our stay,
We had a wonderful time here. It was convenient to venture out during the day for some wine tastings in the beautiful country, and return home to make dinner and enjoy the outside patios. Maria was very responsive and accommodating.
Can't believe we were lucky to get this last minute!
Guys, listen. If you want to be 10-20 min away from EVERYTHING there is to do in the Willamette Valley, but stay in a place that feels like a million miles from anything, this is the place for you. AMAZING property nestled on a working farm!! We had so much fun exploring and relaxing. Beds are comfortable, lots of room, and the variety of flowers, fruit and trees boggles the mind. Keep in mind this is an old farm house. There are spider webs, bugs and that old farm smell (LOVE!!). Get ready to step back in time with modern luxuries like the hot tub and sauna. Maria was the sweetest and responded so fast! We accidentally left a t-shirt and she mailed it back, so awesome! I would definitely stay here again.

This property was purchased for a great uncle with help of my father back in the late 50's. He wound up owning 200 acres of what was originally a 400 acre farm. I am the current owner. My father expanded the original farm house to its current size of about 3000 square feet.
