Second Row Beach House- "Wishing Whale” Ocean views!

WISHING WHALE - 197 East First Street - This second row house features five bedrooms and five and a half baths on two levels, and it's conveniently built on a reverse floor plan for maximum ocean views from the main living area upstairs with all NEW LIVING ROOM FURNITURE (April 2023)! On the first floor, one bedroom has a king bed and TV, one has a queen and TV, one has two full size beds, and the fourth has two sets of bunk beds. This level also has a sitting room with a queen sleeper sofa and TV with a DVD player. Upstairs, there's the kitchen, dining room and main living room, along with the master bedroom with a king bed and TV. The dining room table seats ten, and there are six stools at the bar for additional seating.
Amenities include an NEW (May 2021), ELEVATOR, a private HEATED pool, gas grill, enclosed hot and cold outside shower, BRAND NEW (Apr 2022) central heat and air, NEW (Oct 2022) washer and dryer and dishwasher! Microwave oven, iron/ironing board, ceiling fans, a NEW 2024 65" 4K HD TV in living room, Blu-ray player, and the fastest Wi-Fi available. The gourmet kitchen has top of the line stainless steel appliances, convection oven, and granite countertops and a beautiful NEW backsplash (Sep 2022). (Please bear with us while we get new photos...almost every room is much better than our old photos indicate.)
All beds are Serta Perfect Sleeper Euro-top mattresses with GoreTex (hypoallergenic) mattress covers. The two covered NEW (May 2021) TREX DECKS on the street side deck invite you to sit and enjoy the ocean views. This house is located almost directly across from the Leland Street beach access. Arrive early and enjoy the beach! There is plenty of public parking at the beach access point or across the street.
This house has keyless entry.
A three-night minimum stay is required.
We do our best to have the house ready earlier than scheduled checkin an be flexible if you need more time checkout day. Just send us a note.
This property has pillows and bedspreads. Pool heat is an additional $75/day, possibly less closer to summer.
Sheets, bath and kitchen towels, are available for an additional $245 but can be less for a smaller party. Feel free to follow beach house tradition and bring your own sheets from home (or rent on your own). Paper and soap products should be available but are not guaranteed. RENTAL IS NON-SMOKING AND NO PETS ARE ALLOWED.

Our family and come to OIB for over 50 years and we have stayed at Wishing Whale for the last four years. We love everything about it: the location, the view, the living area, the pool, and especially the elevator! It is well equipped and well maintained. We had a slight problem with the door code when we arrived, but the owner was immediately available by phone and it was resolved quickly. We'll be back next year!

Great stay

Eight adults enjoyed our stay at WishingWhale in late March. Very convenient to the ocean and the home was very clean. Howard worked well with us on any problems we encountered.

Perfect beach house

We’ve been doing Thanksgiving at Ocean Isle for almost 3 decades. This may be our favorite house across those years. The location is great. The layout is fantastic - big kitchen and dining area, spacious family room, 2 BIG decks. Communication before our arrival and during the week was quick and helpful. Everything was top notch.

Wishing Whale Checks All the Boxes!

We had a family gathering over Easter Break. This was our first time on Ocean Isle Beach. The Wishing Whale was the perfect place for us! The heated pool was great—the kids had a blast! It is a beautiful place and we’ll stocked with all the things needed to prepare meals, play games or just relax. It was a real treat to stay there!

Wishing Whale was a wonderful place for our group of 9. It had everything we could need. Each bedroom had its own bath which was great. Loved the decor. The owner was easy to communicate with. Only complaint was that the pool never got warm enough until the day before we were leaving. Would rent again.

Beautiful Beach House and Location

This house easily accommodates large families with children and grandchildren (giving everyone their own rooms and bathrooms. Beach access is directly across the street and outside showers are very convenient as well. The private swimming pool without walkout access is great with small children. This house is updated and comfortable! A great find!

Best Stay Ever

This is an amazing property, and our family cannot wait to go back. It was spacious, clean, very close to the beach access, and the heated pool was a game changer. Howard was very attentive to our request when the towels and sheets were not yet delivered- they were there within the hour- we were very impressed. We will definitely be back next year. We are a family of 5 with 3 young kids. We love Ocean Isle Beach and the chance to spend time in Wishing Whale. We have seen OIB get better and better over the years. It really is a great place!

Why they chose this property

It is has a lot of room for guests, great views and easy beach access. There is plenty of room for 3 families or more to enjoy a long weekend or week long stay. The top floor great room has an open concept and a large dining table. Perfect for multi-family gatherings! We strive to continually improve the property...awesome new decks, best possible elevator, new pool heat and even new decorative lighting near the pool!

What makes this property unique

Ocean views you can enjoy while relaxing on the best possible new Trex decks. Brand new Elevator by Residential Elevators. Heated Pool. All new living room furniture. Plenty of bedrooms and upgraded baths for guests.
