Broken Wire Cabin--Peaceful, private and safe country experience!
This is a quiet, peaceful place literally at the "end of the road." We do have another rental next door that is separated by a privacy fence. Watch the cows eat or the wild geese land on the area ponds during their migration. The crickets and frogs are always musically inclined in the evenings for your listening entertainment. The cabin was designed with all sorts of repurposed items such as cross cut saws, a rub board, milk can, and even an old door turned into a headboard! Our favorite piece is a cedar chest salvaged from the flood of over a year ago that we picked up at a garage sale and sanded and refinished. It is beautiful! If you give us enough notice you might even end up eating a delicious cinnamon roll while you relax on the front porch swing. Y all come stay at our place. You will love it. Texas hospitality at its best.

The host was very welcoming and nice and helpful for anything that we needed and more. It was a beautiful place quite and safe and lots of animals around that you can see and go feed.it had everything we needed for are stay.
The home was welcoming. The host left good instructions with anything we needed. It was nice to wake up and see all their farm animals. Definitely will stay again!!
This was my second stay at Broken Wire. Neat place and reasonably priced. Keith was always available when and if I needed anything. Will definitely stay there when I head to Texas.
We have rented this cabin multiple times to house extra family for special events. It is the perfect spot, always clean and well maintained. We are lucky to have a VRBO like this in Orange.
We loved it, it was clean & I appreciate that so much bc I'm very OCD.. lol..I'm usually wiping a BnB down for at least an hour after arriving, before I can even relax, but this cabin was no problem!! It has everything you need, even a washer & dryer.. Oh & plenty of towels & toilet paper too, which is always appreciated even though we bring most of what we need..The hosts are so sweet, it's obvious they really care about making their guests feel welcome & comfortable..We had a personalized card & delicious cinnamon rolls waiting for us when we got there & plenty of cold waters in the fridge..Just very nice touches that make you feel like you are welcome to be there.. Things that not all places do unless you're paying a lot more money.. Then there's the place itself, it's ADORABLE!! This is a great place for a little family, or for a romantic get away.. It's got so many cute design choices, like a perfect mix of modern & classic old country type stuff.. You can tell they put a lot of thought & care into the place.. Also, we didn't use the upstairs bed, but the master bedroom's bed is very comfy!!It's kind of a firm mattress, which I normally don't like but you'll fall asleep fast & sleep GOOD!!'There are all KINDS of animals out there that you can watch from the porch! Horses, longhorns, emus, peacocks, donkeys, alpacas, etc.!! You can't get a better place for your money in Orange.. Especially if you love animals or peaceful outdoors!!
Host was absolutely wonderful. The home is exactly as shown in pictures. Very Clean and well stocked. View is very serene and the wildlife was amazing.
The property had everything we needed. It was presented clean with required amenities, surrounded by lush green tall trees and farm animals roaming freely. Great break from regular routine and enjoyed a calm and wonderful vacation.
Perfect Pet-Friendly Retreat: A Cozy Getaway Close to Family
We had an absolutely wonderful time at this cozy cabin. It was the perfect home away from home, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cabin's location was ideal, making it easy for us to visit family nearby while also accommodating our dogs, which was a huge plus. It’s clear that Terry and Keith have put a lot of care into making their guests feel welcome. They were incredibly sweet and attentive, ensuring every aspect of our stay was perfect. The cabin itself was charming and had all the comforts we needed for a relaxing getaway. It was just what we were looking for to recharge and enjoy quality time with both our family and our furry friends. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and pet-friendly retreat!Thank you, Teri and Keith, for a memorable experience.
Nice cabin but had a few issues. The owners were lovely and helped when we called. Loved being amongst all the farm animals. The A/C unit had black mold in it. And the owner was nice enough to come and clean it. Went to use bbq pit and it had a wasps nest in it. Owner came and removed the nest and emptied out old charcoal. But it was so rusty i didnt want to put food on it. The cabin is very cute with a nice front porch. But some items on site needed attention. Broken chair on porch, rusty falling apart bbq pit, black stuff flying out of AC unit in bedroom, no dish soap in kitchen and listed as a 2 bedroom but its not. One bed is a loft.In spite of everything i would stay there again.

About the host
Hosted by Keith Newell
We built this cabin from the ground up. It was truly a family project with Keith and I, my dad, my mom, step-dad, daughters and their boyfriends, Uncle, Aunt and cousins helping out! The decor evolved depending on the latest bargain I found at the latest garage sale or estate sale or sometimes even off the side of the road or forgotten about in the attic! We had a blast and want to share it with you!
Why they chose this property
This property is safe and secure with no worries about your car being out there the next morning when you wake up. Very private and secluded. We raised our kids here and know all the neighbors down our one mile of gravel road that accesses our place.
