About the host
Hosted by Marian McDonald
John and Marian well known in our small village of Lusmagh. John's family have been farming here for generations. We have mostly cattle on the farm fed on grass in summer and silage in the winter time. Marian loves to keep a nice garden with perennial flowers and roses.
We enjoy meeting many nice visitors to our cottages in this way we have made lots of friends from far away places.

Why they chose this property
John and Marian invite you to rent this 300 year old family farm 'Chestnut Cottage' which is located on the Lusmagh McDonald Farm, Banagher, Co. Offaly only 1km from the Shannon River in central Ireland. . He has been home to the McDonald family for generations. The Chestnut Cottage has been lovingly restored, retaining as much as possible the "old world" character of the house while adding all the modern comforts. It is located near the main farm, in a beautiful farm garden with an orchard.
What makes this property unique
Banagher is famous for its Irish music pubs, river cruises, Bog walks and tours, great fishing, fishing (rude - pike fishing is particularly rewarding). Its proximity to several golf courses, excellent super markets and shops, restaurants and hotels make it a perfect holiday destination. Most pubs serve really good food and creamy Guinness.
