Ways to Explore Dog-Friendly Franklin with Your Pup:
Dog-friendly hikes in the Smoky Mountains:
No visit to the Smoky Mountains is complete without a hike! Most trails are pet-friendly so long as your furry friend is leashed and cleaned up after. If you’re not sure how much of the trail your dog can manage, we suggest starting with a shorter hike like the one-mile Rufus Morgan trail, Cliffside, Whiteside, or (if you’re looking for a bit more of a challenge) the four-mile Bartram trail.
Dog-friendly restaurants:
Motor Company Grill—not only will you relish the old-timey diner’s burgers and shakes, but Fido also gets a menu of his own on the pet-friendly patio!
The Lazy Hiker and Currahee Brewing—which have large patios for you to kick back with a beer and some food-truck nachos to share.
Dog parks for leash-free romps:
Franklin has a brand-new dog park on Phillips Street, just down the hill from Main Street. It features separate spaces for big and small dogs, public restrooms, and even a walking trail around the exterior for those who’d like to stroll during the walk.

Restaurants
Depends on your taste:
Cafe Rel is unique eclectic French American Italian restaurant. Last I knew they only took cash.
Just down the road is Graff's Tavern Sport Bar
Downtown Motor Company Grill family oriented with old car theme and
The Lazy Hiker with micro-brewery beers and a food truck.
For country BBQ there is Fat Buddies Ribs & BBQ

Here is some local feedback.
Tellico trout farm and Andy’s trout farm. For catch and pay. And the rivers of course. The other side of Wayah Rd is always full of fly fishermen. And Cherokee has the cheap day licenses and stock the river every week, not sure which day they stock it but it’s never good the day they stock it, they’re not hungry yet. Also have always caught fish at the KOA campground ponds in Cherokee.

Great and Convenient Location
We enjoyed our stay. The home is very spacious with many different areas for sleeping a large group. We enjoyed playing games in the yard and the basement. The home is stocked with most things you would need. The owner reached out before we arrived and was very kind and hospitable. The location is easy to get to (no steep, one lane mountain roads), and is only a few minutes from town. The location is also conveniently located central to Highlands, Dillard, Clayton, Cherokee, and the Smoky Mountain National forest. We also made a day trip to Gatlinburg with plenty of time to enjoy the town and the national forest. There is also a nice mountain view from the backyard. They have yard games available for your enjoyment as well. I would recommend this home to anyone wanting space that is close to Franklin, especially if you have a larger group to sleep.

Good Times All Around
The Reagan House was a homey, warm place to call our home away from home. Clean, and accessible, easy to get to our destinations with just enough activities in the home to keep us occupied during the evenings. The hosts were easy to contact, friendly, and generous.

Perfect little getaway
First off, this owner is just incredibly kind and so helpful! What started out as a weekend getaway for our large family to watch my daughter graduate from WCU turned in to a series of mishaps with car issues, forgotten jackets, and rain, but he was so easy to work with and went out of his way to help us any way he could. The house is not a million dollar mansion, but is is cozy, spacious, and described by my kids as comforting because it was so welcoming and had everything waiting for you when you arrived. We spent a lot of time bonding over movies and playing air hockey, which is exactly what we all wanted. Would definitely rent again if ever in the area!
