A three-bedroom, one-bath (plus an outdoor shower), year-round house which can accommodate six comfortably. Right on the ocean with two optional kayaks available at the house ($200 for both). Great for Summer, Spring, and Fall vacationing; situated on one-half acre on the ocean with fabulous 180-degree water views. Includes: well-equipped, up-to-date, Eat-in Kitchen with dishwasher and Jen Air Grill, double oven, microwave, CuisinArt, etc. Living Room with wood burning stove. House has gorgeous Post and Beam construction with lots of wood throughout. You see the ocean from the Kitchen and Living Room through double glass sliding doors. Sit on the rocks in the front yard at the water's edge. Contact owner for approval if you want to bring a pet over 25 pounds or have more than 1 pet, pet fee is per day per pet.
Shopping: Kittery Outlet Mall just off I-95 in Maine just after New Hampshire border, follow I-95 signs. Freeport: more charm (less stores) and a quaint village setting. In Thomaston, try the State Prison Store for hand-made wood furniture, decoys, and other objects. Everything is made by the inmates, no kidding. There are even tour buses that bring customers here! All prisons used to do this until union pressure stopped it in most places. On I-95 in New Hampshire the state has discount wine and liquor outlets with no state taxes and typically 10-20% less than Connecticut. Rockland: 10 minutes away with Shaws and Hannaford supermarkets - huge, modern, great selections, good prices. Wal-Mart, toy stores, restaurants, and nice stores for kids. Camden: Classic New England town with quaint shops and sights; lots of gift shopping, etc.
Sightseeing: Tenants Harbor, Camden, Owls Head Lighthouse and also The Transportation Museum, Port Clyde (and Marshall Island Lighthouse) - a fishing village with ferry to famous Monhegan Island, Farnsworth Museum in Rockland (lots of Wyeths paintings). Vinal Haven and North Haven Islands accessible by regular ferry service, about 45-minute ride. A truly scenic area is Acadia National Park which includes Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain, tremendous ocean views, hiking trails (The Beehive), Jordan Pond and Tea House, Wonderland, and much much more!
Dining: McLoons Lobster Shack - rated #1 by Down East Magazine - 1.25 miles from house; Primo's - Nationally-known, get reservations weeks/months in advance; Ada's Kitchen - upscale Pasta & Pizza; In Good Company - Upscale tasting plates; Rockland Cafe - cheap, locals, Tue night (all you can eat fish = $24, wine $9/glass - not fancy, but recommend if you're relaxed. Classic Inns/Restaurants: East Winds in Tenants Harbor, + Clark's Island (Craigmair). Bakery Cafe Restaurant in Thomaston. For Coffee, Cafe and books, try The Second Read (used books) on Main St Rockland. Dorman's Ice Cream on Rt 1. Happy Clam on RT 131 in Tenant’s Harbor is also good – semi upscale.
