Once again, we loved our stay at the Cove Cottage! We love the silence and beauty, and its proximity to so much good food and hiking. During this stay, we tried McLoon's Lobster Shack -- great food and gorgeous setting.

This is a very well kept, comfortable and cozy property in an absolutely beautiful location. We had a wonderful time. The absolutely perfect weather that we had all week was a fantastic bonus, but we could tell that we would have enjoyed ourselves even on foggy, rainy days.

Beautiful little cabin on a quiet cove! We had a great time. If you’re looking for privacy off the beaten path this is perfect. But lots of driving to get to popular destinations well worth it for my family and I.

Check in was super easy, property is well maintained, bright with lots of windows, great views, well stocked kitchen, good amenities. There is plenty to do in surrounding areas, the beach is 10 minutes down the road, but there is acess to the water on the property. The host is easy to communicate with and friendly. We had a great time

Location, location, location. Accurate description. Right on the cove. Avian life a plenty. Ospreys, kingfishers, water birds. An occasional deer. Our highlight was a Great Horned Owl. Many very excellent dining experiences . Of course, Maine Top Notch lobster shacks. Local tavern restaurants. All kinds of excursions to one’s preference. Hiking trails. Sailing. Maine back roads. Light houses. Simply sit by the cove and meditate. We liked touring the Bath USN ship building facility. That we have repeat visited says everything. And we have thoughts of a third stay. Chill and enjoy

Peaceful visit

We loved how quiet and secluded the cabin was while still having easy access to explore all of the little towns nearby. It felt like we were on our own little peninsula. The views of the cove were beautiful. Marshall Point/Drift Inn Beach were close by. Vanessa and Paul made great recommendations, and our family of four was quite comfortable. Thank you, again, for a peaceful visit.

Beautiful, Peaceful and Convenient Hideaway

This was our second vacation at this lovely, charming, and very clean and neat cabin. It is a special place at an extraordinary and convenient location with easy access to other midcoast towns and sights. One can watch the tide rise and fall at the cove that's just a few feet from the cabin. Our host is highly responsive, good natured and saw to it that we had everything we needed. We can't wait to go back!

Location, location, location

We've stayed at several rentals in the mid-coast region and this location was incredible! A few steps to a perch on a rock and the week produced a few thousand pictures of all the birds and other wildlife visiting all day long. The rustic cabin was perfect for the two of us and our dog. Nearby to great local restaurants and an awesome ferry trip to Monhegan Island. We can't wait to return!

This place is bliss...

A rustic yet comfy little cabin with all that we needed. Quiet and private with nice dirt road for a walk and what a nice surprise that Atwood Quarry was within walking distance. I swam there almost every day when spending summers here almost 30 years ago and its still gorgeous. So many things to do nearby...fabulous restaurants and activities or just sit by the water and watch the tide roll in and out while reading a good book. We hope to return!

It was our first time renting here and we absolutely loved it! We rented sea kayaks and had THE MOST amazing time paddling all around Long Cove! While out on the water, we spotted herons, seals, terns, cormorants, and bald eagles—unforgettable moments that will stay with us a lifetime. Vanessa and Paul were kind, communicative, and incredibly gracious hosts. For example, when my daughter and I each accidentally broke a drinking tumbler while doing dishes, Vanessa was completely understanding. The cabin reminded me of my family’s old cottage on Lake Michigan built by my great grandparents—rustic, but with all the essential comforts. The Wi-Fi, AC, and hot water all worked perfectly. The privacy and connection to nature here are absolutely unbeatable. We enjoyed cooking in and dining out. Highlights included tree-top and cloud gazing the hammock, spotting numerous shorebirds, smelling the ocean breezes, listening to the sounds of wind and songbirds, practicing morning meditations on the big rock overlooking the cove, building a fairy house from natural objects, playing Scrabble (we brought our own board), and eating s’mores by the fire. Our dogs loved Drift Inn Beach and peaceful walks along the cottage road. And we had one heaven-sent sunset that truly lit our hearts up. This place was magical, healing, and restorative—just what we needed. We're so grateful to Vanessa and Paul for sharing this special property with us, and we hope to return again.

What a view!

We had a beautiful stay in tenants harbor. The cabin was cozy with incredible cross breezes making it the perfect temperature. We saw bald eagles, loons, great blue herons, osprey, oyster catchers and more. We brought our kayak so everyday was an easy launch from the yard adding more adventures in fishing. The master bedroom provides an amazing view of the sunrise. It also provides incredible stargazing opportunities from the comfort of the bed. We saw 3 shooting stars. The house is perfect! As for the location again perfect! Great for exploring surrounding towns and it’s a quick ride to the 2 local general stores and ferry to Monhegan Island (which we did and greatly enjoyed). It was a wonderful stay and we hope to visit again in the future!

Idyllic waterside Cottage

This was a lovely place to stay in Maine and we would most definitely return! POSITIVES: varying and generous water views; great birding to enjoy; both outside tables had umbrellas - a “must” when the sun is out; great coffee maker; lots of pillows in living room - helps when reading in bed; lovely flowers in flower boxes; lots of windows; easy to work combination door access; clean & pleasant bathroom; Hosts very responsive & timely in responding to questions. NEGATIVES: Sliding glass door needs a screen - it diminishes pleasure, comfort & air-flow in the Great Room without a sliding-screen door; TV directions: step by step directions should be provided- not all guests are tech savvy; exterior door handle is loose, wobbly & inner part of handle appears to be separating from outer part; both sides of bed need lighting for reading; recessed ceiling lights on one side in Great Room don’t turn all the way off (on the “hammock” side of room); kitchen needs: wax paper, foil, a garlic press, sharpened knives for cooking, more trays for “lap dining”, real dishes VS plastic , although pretty, plastic is plastic. THANK YOU! Thank You for sharing your water-side cottage… it gives those of us who don’t live there, opportunity to experience a bit of Maine! We enjoyed it immensely!

Quintessential Maine Experience!

This property was the quintessential Maine experience! The layout was perfect for myself, husband, and two girls. The location was ideal to the day trips we planned to take (Camden, Rockport, Owls Head, Rockland, Freeport, and whale watch tour out of Boothbay). The views just can’t be beat! Overall, I would stay here again but I would have preferred a rental that included linens and towels. We also had electrical nuisances and became good friends with the breaker box from switches tripping. I would have liked to have known that the heat wasn’t working prior to checking in (we were provided space heaters which worked, but kept tripping the breaker and blew out dust). The kitchen is functional, but nothing luxurious (I could tell it was an old range oven and microwave from the photo). We cooked a lot and packed picnics and I felt the fridge was too small but we made it work. Also, there’s currently not a hammock despite photos showing one, but my girls had their Eno hammocks so that wasn’t a big deal! The owners were very quick to respond to my concerns and were excellent hosts!

My partner and I stayed here for an anniversary trip. Cove cottage was both a warm landing pad and a destination in itself. The views out of every window were beautiful, and the cove was a quiet and magical place. We were able to explore the coast, visiting Monhegan Island, and Acadia National Park. We drove to the top of Cadillac Mountain for the sunrise and got engaged! This spot will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we can’t wait to come back for another visit.

This property was as lovely as advertised. I spent most of my time in the hammock or looking out the window. It was difficult to leave! My only comment is that the kitchen is not well provisioned. If you enjoy cooking, as I do, you will be frustrated by the lack of useful equipment. Next time, I’ll bring my own gear. Otherwise, a blissful experience, quiet and gorgeous.

Beautiful location right next to the water. The view was magical whether it was foggy, sunrise, high-tide, low-tide, or when the water was still as glass. So many birds to watch and stars to see late at night while sitting around the fire pit. We worked ourselves into the cold but invigorating water a few times and our dog loved swimming and hunting for chipmunks. The place is cute and clean. The location is ideal - short drive to a beautiful beach, quaint lighthouse, great local restaurants, and within a 30 minute drive of Camden and Rockport. The hosts are lovely people and very responsive.

I'm a seventh grade English teacher at a local school. My husband works in Camden at a gift shop. We both love to travel, hike and enjoy the sea.

Why they chose this property

This property has been in my family since the mid 1700's. Part of the cabin was built in the 1930's and the newer section was added onto in the 1970's. The property is unique because it is private and the cabin literally sits on a small spit of land over looking the cove. There is a view of the water on three sides. Also, the cove is a beautiful emerald green due to the reflection of the surrounding trees.

What makes this property unique

It's rustic beauty and provides a peaceful place to relax and unwind!
