About this property

Lovely spacious house, sleeps 14 guests, private saline pool, close to lake

Totally detached and with great views around you, the house will comfortably sleep fourteen people, configured to accommodate eight adults and older children (mid/late teens up), six children up to mid-teens, plus at least two little ones in cots. Two cots will be provided at the property.

All you need to do is bring yourselves, your clothes and toothbrushes, and pretty much everything else you could need will be available at the house, including everything needed for babies and children. There is a wide selection of books, games, outdoor toys, and sports equipment, as well as two cots available on request, sterilizers, nappy bins, changing mats, baby baths, etc., and all the various beakers, baby plates and cutlery, similar for toddlers, and plenty of spare linen for the cots in case of accidents, as well as a first aid kit and basic medicines in a locked cabinet.

The house is set in approximately 2.5 acres of grounds, with fantastic views over the valley. There is a lovely, 10 x 5-metre saline system swimming pool with Roman steps - so suitable for small children - and a huge terrace surrounding it, alarmed for safety. Beside the pool is a lovely pool house with a wet room (shower / sink / toilet) and summer kitchen (with fridge, sink, cutlery, glasses and outdoor furniture like loungers etc).

Surrounding two sides of the house is a large decked area with a gas barbeque and an outdoor dining table facing the pool. To take advantage of the views, a pretty garden seat is positioned in the middle of the other elevation. There is also a vast balcony accessed from double doors in each of the two upstairs bedrooms, with gorgeous views over the valley, a table, and four chairs, lovely for early morning coffee or an aperitif in the evening. Between the pool-house and the house is a good-sized lawn, ideal for short tennis, or other games, the equipment for all of which are provided.

The kitchen is fully-fitted and equipped to an excellent standard, so if you enjoy cooking, you will be able to go wild!

In all, it is all designed to make travelling with your children as stress-free and fun as possible.

Great weekend at Brossac

Beautifull clean house, fully equiped, we had a great weekend at Le Ramard. Instructions was very clear, autonomous check in and on time checkout. Just the barbecue was not working, the gas pressure was too low to cook meat, so we were not able to use it. We recommend, and we will probably go back one day.

Fabulous week in a beautiful home

We had a fabulous time in Brossac. The house was beautiful and very well maintained. The host had equipped it with everything you could possibly need, travel adapters, games, inflatables for the pool... the outside space was really lovely. Our dog loved exploring in the garden and we had a great time relaxing by the pool which was really pleasant to swim in. The location is great - there is a Spar only a short walk away in the village as well as a friendly restaurant, butcher's and bakery. There is also another restaurant a few minutes walk away by the lake. The only way the house could be improved further would be by having air con installed because it gets hot during July/August, but there are fans in every room and shutters on all the windows to keep the heat out. Anne, the owner was fantastic. She kept in regular touch with us from the moment of booking and provided lots of useful information. The 'gites fairy' who looks after the property in France was also lovely. She left us lots of goodies in the house on arrival - food, coffee, fresh bread and bubbly! I would definitely return!

Superb family holiday villa with all you need

We stayed at the villa with the whole family: 7 adults and 7 children. There was ample room for everyone, a brilliant open plan kitchen/dining area, balcony for breakfasts and sundowners and a grown-up sitting room for a haven of peace. The salt water pool was amazing, the children's swimming came on leaps and bounds and it was a relief when the mercury hit 38 degrees! The villa is close to some lovely French towns and villages with weekly markets, and not far from Bordeaux. Lots of caves selling pineau, cognac and wine nearby too.

Fantastic holiday at a wonderful property

We had a great holiday at this wonderful property. There were 3 families, with lots of children and the house catered for us all. Spectacular views, amazing sunsets, and a lovely location. The house was spotlessly clean, stocked with everything you can think of and the children absolutely loved the pool.

A lovely house for a family celebration

My family, consisting of 7 adults and 7 children aged between 10 months and 6 and a half years, have just spent 2 weeks at Le Ramard for a 'big' birthday celebration. We had a wonderful time with the children spending most of the time in the gorgeous pool. We weren't very adventurous, but there is clearly a lot to do in the area. We ventured out to a couple of markets and to two lakes. The house has enormous bedrooms and has adaptable sleeping accommodation. It is very well equipped and the two dishwashers were a godsend! I especially loved the 'adults only' room where one could escape to for a bit of peace to do a jigsaw or read! The children had their own playroom so were quite happy that we had our own space too. It was extremely hot 38*C when we arrived and the portable air conditioners were not really up to the job at those abnormal temperatures. However, one could always cool off in the pool! The house manager was really helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble to make our stay comfortable. I would thoroughly recommend this property.

Excellent

Our family had a great time in Brossac. The pool was especially appreciated with the weather being very hot indeed whilst we were there. As described there were plenty of pool and garden toys provided. The large garden was also enjoyed with the children picking blackberries, strawberries and a few beans. All rooms were spacious, the house was well equipped and very clean. We enjoyed visiting the local lake and the music evenings were fun. All in all a very good place to choose for a family holiday with 7 adults and 4 children. Plenty to do in the surrounding area to suit all tastes.

Second visit to this lovely house

This was our second time here, and we had another lovely holiday. The weather wasn't all that great, but there was still plenty to do. The house was immaculately clean, as was the swimming pool. The pool got well-used, despite the weather. There's a new property manager, and I think the level of service is even better than last time. It's a really comfortable house, with everything you need, and lots of things you didn't even know you needed. The only thing I could think of suggesting is perhaps having a table tennis table, but there is one at Etang Vallier, so I'm being very picky. We went to Bonne Humeur in Chalais for a delicious steak. It's our favourite place for supper in the area. Christine and Fernando looked after us very well, as always. We also went to the lake on one of the sunny afternoons, and went ten pin bowling in Angouleme on one of the rainy ones! We had another great holiday here and we will definitely be back again, it's a real home from home.

rural tranquility

We had the most fabulous stay at the very well equipped farmhouse. It is very quiet and calm and peaceful. The pool was lovely and clean and fresh and entertained all of us (but mostly the children) from dawn to dusk. The house is clean, well presented and has lots of space. There is lots to see and do at the local towns and villages and I highly recommend going out to lunch in Chalais and having the 'plat du jour' or visiting on market day. The butcher in Brossac does some delicious meat to have on the BBQ at the house. A trip out to St Emillion (about an hour away) is well worth it. But mostly I would recommend a glass of wine and sitting on the terrace watching the fabulous sun sets. We have come back very relaxed having had a thoroughly lovely holiday. Thank you.

A lovely tranquil get away

I stayed at Le Remard for 5 days in early August. The house is in a wonderfully peaceful, quiet area, with a quaint little village just 5 min walk up the road for fresh bakery and essentials. A larger town a short drive away has everything else you could possibly need, if its not already at the house. The house is just like the photos. The rooms are as big & spacious as they appear in the pictures. The finishing is high quality with attention to details, and looks as gorgeous as the pictures portray. It’s a lovely home away from home, with a comfortable, homey feel. The pool is divine for a refreshing dip on a warm day. I sat out by the pool daily enjoying the morning sun. It was so tranquil. Just wonderful.

A relaxing family break

We spent a week at Le Ramard at the end of August. We were two families with children ranging from 11 to 1. We all had a wonderful time. The house is exceptionally well equipped - it is true that you don't need to pack anything apart from clothes, sunscreen and toothbrush/paste. There was everything there which we needed for our young children including a cot with bedding/highchair/sippy cups/cutlery/toys/books etc which made everything much less stressful and quicker to pack and unpack. The lake is only a 10 minute walk away and kept us and the children entertained all day. We took our own inflatable stand up paddle board and kayak and put them on the water with ease. The lake wasn't crowded but there were enough people to give it some holiday atmosphere. We also spent lazy afternoons at the pool. There is a pool house with inflatables/games etc and enough sun loungers and parasols for us all to unwind. The pool was also alarmed. Brossac is within walking distance and we walked to pick up our pastries in the mornings and had a lovely meal in the restaurant one evening. Overall we felt like we had had a 'real holiday' and came back relaxed. The house is beautifully renovated (and we only used half the rooms!) and we will definitely be back!!

Truly amazing property!

Immaculately clean property, equipped with everything (and more) you will need for your holiday. Literally need to pack clothes and toothbrush. Beautiful salt water swimming pool with a fully stocked pool room containing plenty of loungers and parasols with inflatables and outdoor games for the children. Shower room and toilet by the pool. Fantastic attention to detail to make your stay perfect. Beautiful, peaceful location. 5 minute walk to Brossac swimming lake, clubhouse, restaurant and Brossac village. I would highly recommend this property, would love to go back.

Relaxing to the max

What a great stay we had, was so happy to see that the house is actually even nicer than the photos, which is really unusual. We didn't do very much as it was only a week's stay, but we didn't really need to, the house is set up so well and the pool is gorgeous, )and no chlorine smell, which was lovely) The barbeque got a good workout, and the kitchen has almost everything you could think of. The garden is obviously quite new, so the plants are all quite small, but there are roses and lavender, herbs and vegetables in the vegetable plot, which was a nice touch, so we could pick courgettes, lettuces, beans, tomatoes and peppers to go with supper. I gather they are planting more all the time, so I am sure next year the garden will be even better. The views are amazing from every angle. It's lovely and quiet, and virtually no light pollution, so it was a really relaxing stay. I'm sure we'll be back again.

A month getawy

We stayed in this property for a month, while friends came and went. It's about an hour from Bordeaux, which is well worth several visits. The property easily caters for larger groups or a family of 4. We had at least 6 and at the most 10. The salt water pool was a hit with everyone and stays lovely and cool even on the hottest days. There is a large garden and a safety alarm on the pool. The house is very well equipped and as we cooked most days I was very grateful for lots of crockery and cutlery so we could take advantage of the two dishwashers. The beds were comfortable and bedrooms airy and clean. There a fantastic playroom for younger children, with a more adult sitting room, not that we used it much as we social end outside most evenings. The stars at night are amazing as there is very little light pollution. Lots to do locally, we went kayaking on the rivers, played in the lakes, visited some lovely local restaurants and towns to visit (Aubettere was our favourite i think!) we ventured to Royan beach and had several trips into Bordeaux for walk around, excellent shopping and loads for fantastic restaurants. As we arrived late at night the house manager met us with a lovely gift basket of wine, cheese, butter, bread, milk etc to ensure we had something to eat on arrival. It's in a wonderful rural location but most shops/ supermarkets are within a 15 mins drive. As a local told me everything in France is at least 15 mins away!! There are plenty of towels and linen and even shower gels/ shampoos/ conditioners even extra sun cream and insect repellent on hand for your use. The medical cabinet was also packed full of emergency bits in case you get caught short. You could literally come with a small bag for the whole family!! Overall this a fab place for a family or a few families to enjoy a lovely holiday.

We had a wonderful stay here. The house is great, plenty of room and the bathrooms are fantastic!! The pool is one of the nicest I've ever come across in a holiday let, and there's a great wet room beside it. Lots to do, beautiful countryside and several waterparks in easy reach. We'll be back, for sure. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Fabulous

We enjoyed a great break at this house. The property is furnished to a high standard and the fabulous kitchen is huge - ideal for a few families congregating. We spent most of our time in there playing board games etc. The views are stunning and there are some lovely restaurants in nearby Brossac and Chalais. Would definitely recommend this property. We'll certainly be returning.

Why they chose this property

I fell in love with this area when I first came to visit friends who had moved here from the UK in 2003, and my children and I have visited every year at least once a year ever since. When I first saw this house, it was only partly-built, and the builder had run out of money, but the views were so spectacular, I couldn't resist it. It's been a real labour of love, and now it is finished it needs to be enjoyed!
