We had a wonderful time! The location was nice. There were a few areas for improvement such as; the condo was a little small, there were 5 spiders found the first two days, and the back burner of the stove did not work properly. However, we loved the wildlife (chipmunks, baby deer, ducks, baby and mama fox), the wine gift was a nice touch, easy to check in and proximity to the beach was excellent! The host was quickly responsive when we struggled to figure out the gate. We will be back with our family next year :)

Lovely cottage

The cottage was in a lovely location especially as my brother in law is unwell and can't walk too far. The weather was mixed but we lit the fire and watched the rugby. The kitchen was well equipped and overall the cottage had everything we needed.

Wonderful location and ample space. This character cottage is perfect for a short break to Mousehole. Surprising amount of space- perfect for 4 people. Lovely to be able to walk to the pubs and restaurants and enjoy the Mousehole lights at this time of year.

Staying in Mousehole

Staying in Mousehole was lovely. The location of the cottage was fab, a short stroll to the harbour - perfect. However, the cottage was only ok. On arrival we found the oven in a terrible condition, which we had to clean before using. The cottage was dusty and we wondered if it needed a deep clean before the season got going. It felt in need of some TLC.I don't think we would stay there again. A shame.

Christmas Stay

A wonderful Christmas getaway in a perfectly prepared cottage by the sea. The house had plenty of room for four adults and the kitchen was very well equipped, allowing us to cook for ourselves over the Christmas period. It was warm and cosy, especially with the lights of Mousehole shining outside. We would highly recommend the property to anyone considering a visit to the area.

Lovely charming cottage in the most ideal location

We recently stayed for a few days in this lovely cottage, in the most ideal location. For a small village there are plenty of great dining options and shops that are all just a short walk away. The cottage matched the description perfectly and had such a homely feel to it. It was well equipped, clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

A very nice stay

We had a very comfortable stay in this flat. Everything worked very well and the rooms were clean. Only there was a little too much dust seen in some areas of the house and the cupboards could have been cleaner. Do not let it become worse because this house is such a wonderful place but it sometimes seems to need a more intensive cleaning. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were great. There was enough space for our luggage. Parking is a little problem but we found out that there is free parking up the hill about 10 minutes to walk. For unloading and loading the luggage into the car you can park in front of the house.

Cosy cottage

A very charmingly furnished holiday home. Very well equipped kitchen, nice living room and cosy bedrooms. Everything was pleasant. The location is great if you don't need a parking space right in front of the door. You have to park your car in one of the nearby paid parking spaces. Mousehole is an old and very picturuesque village that can't accomodate cars. Out of season there is also free parking on the road along the coast to Newlyn, but this is a bit of a walk, about 5-10 minutes. Mousehole, with its small harbor, narrow streets and hillside location, is a true gem. Great restaurants, a few little shops, but no supermarkets. For serious shopping you will have to drive to Penzance. But - and this is really great - you don't have to drive: There is a bus service running every 15-30 minutes during the day.

Cozy cottage

This was a lovely old stone cottage connected to others on a fairly steep, narrow road. We had some difficulty finding it, but a lovely employee at the Fore 2 Restaurant guided us. Your gps might lead you astray. You really need to unload your gear and then park in the town pkg lot. We could walk everywhere & take the bus to other locations. The cottage itself had a well-equipped kitchen and good living/dining area. If ppl in your party have mobility issues, they will find the steep, narrow stairs to the bedrooms & baths a bit challenging. The mattresses are a bit “tired”, but not bad. Friendly area in which to stay, & so charming!!

Lovely fishermans house

Mousehole is a picruresque village. Coming from a flat country, driving through the steep, narrow, one-way streets here was a challenge. But we managed to unload the car close to the cottage and found a parking spot in the harbour that was very cheap when you are used to the parking fees of Amsterdam. Once we were inside the house we were pleasantly surprised by the tastefull nterior and more space than the outside suggests. We found the house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We dined at the perfect Ship Inn pub just around the corner every day because we loved it so much. Only thing we did expect for this price were towels, but Vivien arranged that very quickly when we contacted her about this. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Fantastic let, cleanliness letdown!

The house is a charming fisherman's cottage right in the center of mousehole. Perfectly appointed with two double bedrooms (one ensuite) and a 3rd with a bunk to sleep 3. The kitchen is new and has everything required, including a washer, dishwasher, microwave etc. The bathrooms are modern and seem to be new and have good powerfull showers fitted. Everything you could want is provided right up to umbrella's, childrens games and towels. Unfortunately now for the bad bit...... As soon as you walk in the front door you are smacked in the face with a disgusting musty smell just like a wet/damp dog. It was always present no matter how often we left the windows open. Secondly, the house is covered in thick dust and cobwebs. Every light fitting, on the book shelves, at the sides of the sofas, chairs, behind the bedside tables (plugging in chargers) window frames, wall ornaments, log burner, bathroom heater, roof lights.....the list goes on (I have photos if req and am more than happy to send them on.) The covid instructions inform house letters what you must do when leaving, strip beds, wipe sides down, wipe bathrooms etc and to be honest I think that's all that was done before we arrived. A real shame because the cottage is beautiful, but we just didn't feel comfortable.

Take pride in what you do

* Cleanliness: When entering the cottage we experienced an unpleasant, wet smell and all available windows needed to be opened as quickly as possible. The surfaces in the kitchen and lounge were sticky which gave us the impression that after the check out of the previous guests there has been no further, additional cleaning at all. There were also 2 big spots on the carpet in the bedroom (facing the street) that could have been treated with carpet foam before the arrival of new guests (see pictures attached). The most shocking issue was the state of some of the pillows. The yellow-brown stains -that were discovered when we stripped off the beddings before vacating the cottage- prove that these pillows have not been washed for ages (see pictures attached). It’s unbelievable that such visible stains were willingly ignored and just been covered with fresh pillow cases for the new arrivals. That is not only disgusting but also a severe offence against health & safety rules. * Location & Neighbourhood: Unfortunately, the neighbours right next door were carrying out renovation work during the period of our stay and one morning, we woke up by the noises of someone removing bath tiles with a percussion drill. Of course, we acknowledge that the landlady has no influence onto this kind of work but if the neighbourhood is of a nice way, one could have given us a little knock on the door the evening before. Furthermore, another neighbour across the street did play very loud music every day from 8 am till 20 pm. This cannot be a new situation and must be well known by everyone. As a matter of fact, the music can be heard throughout the village as we witnessed when walking to the car park. The same neighbour also burnt garden green cuttings in his garden. As the smoke was so thick, we had to close all windows immediately (see picture attached). * Overall Impression: Despite the fact that the building itself is lovely and offers a good layout as well as a newly fitted kitchen, with all these noises going on plus discovering the stained pillows – we have to say that understandably, we did NOT ENJOY our stay here.

Why they chose this property

We had been talking about buying a holiday home abroad for years but never managed to find the time to really look at all of the potential locations.

In May 2004 we took a short break to Mousehole with the kids and after just a few days we felt so at home we said ‘Why are we looking abroad when we have found Mousehole and Cornwall?’

When we decided to take the plunge and look for a home in Mousehole we had very specific requirements. We wanted somewhere that was cosy enough for 2 and yet with enough accommodation for our two boys and their friends, all of whom, we were assured, would want to join them! We wanted all of the traditional cottage features but with modern accommodation and facilities, close to the harbour and with a view to the sea. To much to ask? Almost but then we found 5 Regent Terrace, which we have appropriately re-named Seamore Cottage.

Almost immediately we had enquiries about holiday letting but we decided that as this was to be our home too, we would spend about 6 months re-fitting the cottage to a standard that we, and others, would appreciate.

What makes this property unique

Seamore Cottage, which has been the home of Mousehole mariners for over 150 years, is about 80 odd paces from the harbour front and there are a number precious parking spaces close by. The cottage was completely rebuilt in 1999 transforming the accommodation but retaining the original features.

I try to go down to Mousehole whenever there is a vacancy and I have fallen in love with waking up in the morning and sitting on the window seat with a cup of tea in the front bedroom and watch the fisherman go out.

Mousehole is simply beautiful and tiny as it’s name suggests. Known as one of the loveliest coastal villages in England it’s granite cottages, with unique slate roofs cluster around the harbour, along narrow streets and cobbled lanes. The pretty harbour, where colourful, bobbing fishing boats glitter in the crystal clear Cornish sunlight, has a safe sandy beach, ideal for kids of all ages enclosed by a granite harbour wall with the smallest of openings onto Mounts Bay.

The village has a couple of handy shops, a post office and newsagents, some fine restaurants and a wonderful pub, The Ship Inn, where a warm welcome, good service and hearty meals are assured to locals and visitors alike. Mousehole is surrounded by a lovely coastline, designated an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ by the National Trust. There are two more beaches close by, with rock pools that will keep youngsters entertained for hours.
