Gatlinburg Log Cabin Rental — Hot Tub, Mountain Views & Game Room, Sleeps 6
Anxybear is an authentic 1800s hand-hewn log cabin in Gatlinburg, TN, offering 3 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, and space to sleep 6 guests. Perched high above the valley, this secluded mountain cabin delivers 180-degree views of the Great Smoky Mountains and Pigeon Forge below — combining historic log construction with modern luxury amenities.
Hot Tub & Mountain Views Relax in the private, mountain-facing hot tub, freshly sanitized and refilled with clean water and bromine for every guest. Watch the sunset or stars from total privacy at elevation.
Game Room & Entertainment The dedicated game room features classic arcade games — a favorite hangout for families and groups of all ages. Smart TVs and unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi throughout.
Three Private Bedroom Suites Three distinct bedroom suites, each with the natural soundproofing of original thick log walls — ideal for groups or families who want privacy. Gather by the stone fireplace in the vaulted living area (available October–March), and cook in the fully equipped kitchen with blender, slow cooker, wine glasses, and coffee maker.
Location Minutes from Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, Anakeesta, and Wild Bear Falls Indoor Water Park, with easy access to downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
Guest Standards Contactless self-check-in. All linens and towels provided, plus a starter kit of paper products, trash bags, and toiletries. Cleaned by a professional local team using hospital-grade protocols.
Getting to the Cabin The final approach is a 1-mile, ~7-minute paved ascent with some steep grades and sharp turns — typical of Gatlinburg's mountain cabins. A standard vehicle is fine in clear weather; 4-wheel drive or snow chains are required if snow or ice is present. Travel insurance is recommended for winter stays.
Wildlife & Nature You're in the heart of bear country — sightings are common and part of the experience, not a danger, as long as you follow a few rules: never feed wildlife, keep food and trash in the provided bear-proof bins, and lock your car doors (local bears are known to open handles). You may also see ladybugs or millipedes occasionally; they're harmless, beneficial to the local ecosystem, and part of staying this close to the forest.

About the host
Hosted by George & Delia
We restored Anxybear because we wanted to share the real thing — an authentic 1800s log cabin, not a modern build dressed up to look old. We personally manage the property, respond quickly to guest questions, and know this mountain well enough to tell you exactly what to expect, from the best local trails to what your drive up will actually feel like in winter.
We're on call throughout your visit if anything comes up. Our goal is simple: give you a genuinely peaceful mountain escape, backed by responsive hosting.
Why they chose this property
Our cabin sits atop the mountain just 7 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg and 15 minutes from Pigeon Forge, with panoramic views of Bluff Mountain and the Pigeon Forge valley below. Every evening brings a new sunset over the Smokies, best enjoyed from the private hot tub after a day of hiking, whitewater rafting, or exploring Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
This location puts you close to everything: Ober Gatlinburg for skiing and snowboarding, Dollywood and Pigeon Forge's theme and water parks, plus downtown Gatlinburg's restaurants, comedy theaters, and attractions — all within a short drive, while the cabin itself stays quiet and secluded at elevation.
Originally built in 1870 and reconstructed using the original hand-hewn logs, the cabin now offers 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, sleeping 6 comfortably — recently updated to give every guest their own private suite. It's the rare combination of 19th-century craftsmanship, a genuinely private mountain setting, and easy access to everything Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge offer.
What makes this property unique
Anxybear pairs an authentic 1870s hand-hewn log cabin with a modern architectural surprise: step through the original log facade into a cozy, historic front room, then continue into a sunlit great room lined with a gallery wall of windows framing the Smoky Mountains. It's a rare combination — genuine 19th-century pioneer-cabin craftsmanship on the outside, an open, light-filled modern living space on the inside.
Few Gatlinburg log cabins offer this contrast: most are either fully modern "kit" cabins built to look old, or historic structures left untouched and dark. Anxybear does both — authentic hand-hewn timber construction, updated to 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, with the natural light and mountain views a true 1870s cabin never had.
