About this property

Charming Private Cottage by the Beach

Sea View Mews is a newly-renovated cottage in a lush, private garden setting, just a few steps from the beach at Cambridge Beaches. It has one queen bedroom with en suite bathroom, fully equipped kitchen with gas stove, microwave, dishwasher and coffee machine, a large living/dining room, a beautiful walled garden with sunken dining area and BBQ, outdoor shower and direct access to the beach. There is a charging point for Twizys and other electric cars and plenty of parking. There is super-fast Wifi, perfect for your work-from-home respite in Bermuda. We have incorporated green technology - solar power and water filtration system for a comfortable, guilt-free stay!

There is a bus stop and supermarket a short walk away, as well as the other amenities of Somerset Village. Guests can use the restaurants and spa at Cambridge Beaches hotel, a short walk through the garden gate. You can also rent water sports equipment, mopeds and electric cars close by.

You will have complete private use of the cottage and garden during your stay.

We have Ollie the Jack Russell Terrier, Abby the Dalmatian and Sammy the Cocker Spaniel on the property, so you must be dog-friendly :). They can be kept out of the private mews garden if you wish. We welcome you to bring your dog with you, but have to say no to cats.

We provide beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas, snorkelling equipment, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, washer and dryer. There is air conditioning and fast WiFi (500mbps) and redundant capacity with two separate networks - one fibre, one wireless.

We are located in the heart of Somerset, in a private 2-acre property set back from the quiet Cambridge Road. The historic Naval Dockyard and the South Shore beaches are an easy bus ride away, or you can nip there on your moped or Twizy. Ferries run from nearby Watford Bridge to Hamilton in the morning and afternoon and from Dockyard all day.

We provide bicycles you can use to explore the area, including the nearby tranquil Railway Trail. We are both keen cyclists and can provide recommendations for places to visit by bicycle.

Jonah is an artist who has his studio nearby and you are welcome to visit. Jonah's work can be seen at Jonah-art

Sea View has an interesting history of creative people who have lived there which can be seen on our website at Sea View Bermuda.

We are happy to answer any questions you have about the property or Bermuda in general and will do whatever we can to make sure you have a wonderful stay.

Little slice of heaven!
We were delighted with the accommodations, thrilled with the outdoor space and so well taken care of by Jo and Jonah! The beach was literally 50 steps away! The public busses and ferries are so clean and easy to use! The 2 bikes they provided for us were great bikes and perfect for the Railway trail...high end gas grill for fresh seafood...nothing was done cheaply! Highly recommend!

Beautiful Cottage, Great Location, Awesome Hosts
Ditto all the other previous accolades about how wonderful Jo and Jonah are, how sweet the cottage is with the private walled garden and short walk to the ocean, and how nice it is to be away from the bustle of Hamilton but still on the bus line. We totally concur! I study these reviews and read between the lines. I’m picky. This place did not disappoint. Therefore let me add a few other helpful insights to make your trip a success. This is Bermuda and concessions must be made. We knew prices would be high so we packed our own coffee and tea, oatmeal, dried fruit, and nuts and ate breakfast in our sweet cottage everyday, supplemented by delightful baked items from Da Island Shack that is within a 10 minute walk (just past The Marketplace grocery). The Shack also makes reasonably priced and hearty sandwiches if you are on the go. We picked those up several days and took off on the bus for a day of exploring. If you want your towels to dry out before your next shower in this humid environment, you’ve gotta keep the doors closed. Get a multi day bus pass and don’t bother with tokens, correct change, or zone passes. Absolutely skip the scooters and little cars. The roads are much too narrow and curvy for non-native drivers. Don’t hesitate to ask the bus drivers for advice about stops. They are so nice. Take time to talk to the regular Bermudians you pass on the street. All so friendly! Yes, go ahead and book!

Island Treasure
Sea View Mews has it all. The cottage is comfortable and cozy, adorned with Jonah's beautiful paintings, set in a lovely garden on an interesting and expansive property. The connection to Cambridge Beaches is a bonus. Only a 10 minute walk to the market, or to catch a delightful pink bus full of delightful people. A visit to the National Museum at the Royal Naval Dockyard is a must, if only to be inspired by Graham Foster's 1,000 square foot mural depicting the island's 400 year story in art. Jo and Jonah are hospitable, generous, and enjoyable hosts, we only wish we could have stayed longer!

Just perfect!
This house had everything we needed (plus more)!! The location was perfect: easy access to busses and the ferry. We had a different adventure every one of our nine days there and will be back for more. Jonah and Jo were the perfect hosts and their property was exceptional. We loved the quiet of the surroundings. A lovely beach is just through the gate. Everything has been created with an artist's eye. Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else on the island....

Dreaming of Bermuda
We had a fantastic 10 days in Bermuda despite alot of December rain. Jo and Jonah are lovely, welcoming, fascinating hosts, and they strike the perfect balance between being helpful and giving you total privacy. Their home and property is beautiful, historic, quiet, and quintessential west end Bermuda. This property adjoins Cambridge Beaches. We only hope we are able to return, as Bermuda has a way of working itself into your being. Thank you, Jo and Jonah, and we wish you a Happy New Year!

Originally from the UK, Jonah & Jo have lived in Bermuda for over 30 years. Jonah is a well-known local artist working in oil paints and Jo works in the reinsurance industry. We love living by the water and participating in water sports such as snorkelling, kayaking and swimming. We are keen cyclists and so know every inch of the island! We have three dogs, Abby the Dalmatian, Ollie the Jack Russell Terrier and Sammy the Cocker Spaniel.

Why they chose this property

We bought this house after renting it for 5 years and just love it. The garden setting is so private and tranquil, but it is just a few steps from the beach where we get the most beautiful sunsets. The house is a little slice of Bermuda history and we are proud to be taking care of it and sharing it with others to enjoy as much as we do.
