Lapwing is one of the favourites on the Portnellan Estate. A beautiful 1 bedroom holiday lodge that can sleep up to 2 people. With an open plan kitchen, living and dining area the lodge benefits from large sliding patio door that leads onto a private West facing balcony offering unrestricted views over Loch Dochart, the lambing field and to the castle ruin on the island, Ben More and the surrounding mountains. A truly magnificent Highland setting.
With all the comforts from home (and more) the Lapwing is equipped to a high standard with a king size double bed in the master bedroom and comes supplied with soft Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels and The Scottish Soap Co. toiletries. We pride ourselves on the comfort of our beds. A holiday would not be a holiday without a good night's sleep.
The bathroom has been beautifully refurbished with fully tiled walls and floor, a composite reinforced double ended large bath with power shower over. A hand made solid Oak bathroom unit with his and hers twin basins and Jaquar bathroom furniture. A mirrored bathroom cabinet with demister pad, vanity lights and socket. "A really great base for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland, and lots to keep the family occupied, from canoes and bikes, to games and DVD's. Lodge very clean, well maintained and equipped, and with plenty of its own space. The loch and mountain views, the peace and restfulness of the place, even the purity of the tap water, all make you want to stay. Review posted 13th August."
"My daughter rented two cottages at Portnellan for the celebration of her 21st birthday. We had no idea what to expect before we arrived, and we had travelled from the United States to attend her birthday. The magic of Portnellan added to the magic of seeing my daughter turn 21. What a beautiful location, and the cottages were lovely vacation homes with everything we could need."
"Everyone had a terrific time, the young ones and us old-timers! Thank you to the gracious staff (namely Cameron's family.) You made us feel welcome and made her celebration a delight!"
"I highly recommend these cottages for anyone who loves a magical place to sleep and roam in one of the most magical places I've ever been! Review posted 14th August."
"Outstanding as usual. A warm welcome from Cameron and family. Spotlessly clean lodge , stunning scenery and great touring base. Would recommend this to anyone looking for luxury self catering in Scotland. Review posted 12th August"

Lovely chalet, clean and well-equipped. Perfect base for Munro-bagging. The red squirrel running round outside was a bonus! Only slight niggle was lack of instructions for heater control in bathroom - I tried turning it down but it still got hotter than needed.

I am sorry you had difficulty with the control on the heated towel rail in Lapwing. As you would have noticed we have just installed a brand new bathroom in Lapwing and I will take note to detail some instructions for future guests on how to operate the towel rail.
Thank you for your kind words and thank you you so much for your support throughout such unorthodox times🙏🏻. We genuinely hope to welcome you back to Portnellan sometime in the future when ALL the offerings are available for your use and enjoyment. It is most strange having to operate under such circumstances. Lucy and I are usually so involved, when required, helping you have the best time on holiday and as you know this is just not possible right now.
Haste ye back. Many thanks.
Kind regards,
Cameron and Lucy.
