It's nestled on top of a quiet and peaceful qul-de-sac in the picturesque gated community know as The Arbor at Lake James. For our adventurous guest take a mountain hike down the cart path, which is about 600' long and traverses about a 100' of elevation, at one point you can cut through down the nature stairs and check out the artwork, birdhouses and wildlife along the way to the Double Decker dock and enjoy everything the inviting waters of Lake James have to offer!

Play in the water with the 2 kayaks and 1 paddle board (included), jump off the 2nd level of the dock (12') into the refreshing waters, go fishing (rods and reels included, but bring your own bait and tackle), sun tan, picnic, enjoy cocktails, etc... the possibilities and the memories are both endless and priceless! We loved our stay. Would definitely recomend renting a atv 4 wheeler. The owner was very helpful to everything we needed. Lots of great memories with three generations of our family. If planning a lake vacation again, this would be our first choice.

Very private, older kids and young adults had a great time jumping off the 2 level dock and swimming. The pontoon boat was fun and easily towed 2 at a time. Love setting on the upper deck, the view is outstanding. Definitely get the recommended UTV, us old folks would never make it up the hill without one.

One of the best we've found!

This is by far one of the best properties we've found for a vacation spot. The house was absolutely gorgeous and everything was exactly as listed. There were plenty of bedrooms (and then some) and more than enough space for everyone to do their own thing. We rented a UTV to get to the lake (which you really need to do) and made the most of the two-story dock. The kids loved jumping in and using the kayaks. Everything within the house worked great and it was more than we could have asked for!

Amazing Views

The house is really well maintained and clean... However, you're in the woods so naturally there are bugs.Views are amazing. A UTV is a must - you won't utilize the lake as much of you don't have one.Lots of space for the family to gather - but also enough room to have "alone time".Would absolutely stay again!

Wonderful place for a friend's weekend. The house is gorgeous and fully stocked for a large crowd. The views are great! The double-deck boathouse is great! You can float, swim or fish off the dock. Or just enjoy the sun! We rented the owner's boat and had a great time on the lake. The fire pit is fun for an evening gathering. The hot tub is nice for chilly evenings. The kitchen is new and fully stocked with pots, pans, silverware, etc. The linens are already on the bed. Check-in was very easy. And check-out was also easy. There is a lot of space, lots of bathrooms, great mattresses, great tvs to watch sports and a Blackstone to cook outside. I would definitely rent an Off-Road Vehicle to go up and down the mountain to the water. That is very steep and a long way down. But the house and property look just like the photos. The owners had great communication with us. And we cannot wait to go back!

Beautiful large home with amazing view! But

We had a wonderful family reunion here. It was perfect for our family of 3 generations. The younger ones had their own play area downstairs with foosball, games, tv…The view of the mountains is beautiful and the sunsets can be too! We would definitely return here. But things to note:If you plan on going to the lake a lot you need to rent the UTV from Cooke Rentals. If you are staying a week you will need extra towels and washcloths (only one per person per week are provided) or bring laundry detergent. No hand towels are provided. No hand soap, shower soap, dish soap are provided. You will need extra toilet paper. The store is not close so come prepared. Lake James is a beautiful, peaceful lake! The hosts are very responsive.

Awesome views lots to do

The house was great for our big family. We enjoyed the boat with wake board and tube. Kayaks and paddle board were a lot of fun too (very spidery when we arrived) the dock gave us plenty of room for fiahing, sunning and playing in the water

Great week in Western NC

Amazing house with an amazing view An ATV or UTV are a must as the hike down to the lake is a challenge and the hike back up even more so. Still worth it when you get to the dock and the lake. Will probably look t o rent again next summer

Fall Get Away

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Breath taking spectacular views of the lake and the mountains!! The kitchen was well stocked with utensils for all our needs, the hot bathtub was perfect, the beds were very comfortable. The most important positive feature of the accommodation was the owner Ginny - so timely with responses. Thank you Ginny!! Hope to stay at this property again.

Beautiful view

The Reel View home has an absolutely gorgeous view of Lake James from its elevated location. Our family had a much fun during our weekend stay. The pontoon boat rented with the home was terrific. We were able to explore Lake James and get a wonderful lunch from one of the lake's marinas. All in all, a very satisfying get away for all of us.

Best vacation home

Perfect stay in Nebo, NC that included 10 adults a 2 year old and newborn. Plenty of room for everyone. The view from the house was incredible. We rented the pontoon boat from the owner, and no regrets there. George was wonderful in coming to the house, and provide step by step instructions on docking and driving the pontoon. This was our best family vacation

Family vacation

We loved this beautiful log home and it’s spectacular views! The path to the lake is definitely a steep trek but we brought an atv as someone else recommended to help with that. The family enjoyed the lake activities a lot. Especially jumping from the upper deck and using the paddle board and kayaks provided by the host . We had an awesome week here and appreciated the hosts quick responses during the booking process too. A beautiful place to stay.

Gorgeous view

Beautiful home, so clean. Everything was wonderful. The walk to the water was difficult to say the least. So glad none of us were elderly or had health problems. We would consider renting again but would have to bring gas powered utility cart in order to reach water and dock.

Million $ View

The view of the lake and mountains is nothing short of magical. It was beautiful. We also renting the pontoon with the property. It was a wonderful experience. We had plenty of room for all of us. As others have stated, the path to the lake is steep. For those of us that had difficulty navigating the steep path, we met the boat at a nearby marina. It worked out well, and we had an amazing time.

Awesome stay at Reel View

Heavenly view, super great double deck dock time, fire pit time with smores, fabulous pontoon boat to rent, fun paddleboard and kayaks, great family room for games for 16, eating arrangement was perfect for our family of 16 and all the conveniences of your own home were available. ATV was helpful for grandparents, but they did walk up and down to water once without difficulty. All others managed the walk fine. Would deninitely come back.

Wonderful location, great place to rewind

Overall we had a very lovely stay. The location is magnificent and so is the house. It's absolutely beautiful, rustic and roomy. The large kitchen and dining table are amazing and perfect for group meals. Loved the 2 large outdoor decks which allows a lot of privacy if you travel in a group. The jacuzzi was a big hit - amazing to sit in there and enjoy the view :-). There were some minor shortcomings: We missed space to hang coats, no hanging space at the entrance or in most of the guest-rooms. The dock sitting area furniture (seat cushions) were moldy. The SUP is missing the keel. There was no wood inside the house for the fireplace nor a fire starter. But overall we enjoyed this lovely place on the lake and would recommed it highly!

Wonderful Large Property to Host Entire Family

We loved staying in this house for our family trip. We had ages ranging from 8 months to 67 with about 4 different family groups. There was plenty of room for everyone and the kids loved the queen size bunk beds. The kitchen was stocked full of anything you needed to cook. It was the most stocked kitchen we have ever rented in. We cooked every meal but like 2 at the house for all 16 people. The walk to the lake is long but the owner helped us secure a utv for the drive down. This is a must! We love swimming/ jumping off the dock using the paddle boards, kayak and even rented the boat. Wildlife wondered all over the property and could be seen from the main house. The driveway was large enough to fit our 5 vehicles and is the last house at the top of a large hill. Due to the layout and design, I will note that those on main floor could hear every noise in the 2nd floor rooms. The basement was quieter. We spent majority of our time on the main floor but the basement activities were enjoyed by the kids. Note majority of hikes and place to go are about 30 min drive from property which was fine with us as we enjoyed the lake majority of the time.

Great House for families!

We had a great time!! Good weather. The house is perfect for small and large families. Kitchen was well stocked. The house is well built and we had plenty of hot water. The dock is very nice. We spent a lot of time on the top part of the dock. View from the house is SPECTACULAR!!!! One down side to the property is the WIFI as it was very slow. But being with family who needs to be on the internet? The only other downside is the walk down hill (and I mean down the hill) to the lake and the dock. We are in very good shape but it is a workout to walk back up from the lake. Also if is has been raining the pavement can be slippery. We rented an ATV to take us up and down. Although it slipped some on the wet pavement I would highly recommend renting one. George can guide you who to call. The owners could not have been nicer or more helpful! We had a great time!!!

Great Spot for Our Family Reunion

We came from all over the US to gather at this house. The house was very nice, clean and comfortable; the view was spectacular. The boat and lake was tons of fun all week. Nearby mountain biking and roller skating were hits for those who wanted to get out for a bit. When any (minor) issues arose, the hosts were very responsive and dedicated to making sure they were addressed to the best of their ability and that we were having a good time. Some things to be a ware of: Internet is spotty at best and often didn't work. It's also worth repeating others' many warnings that the walk to the lake is steep. Any individuals with mobility issues can make it difficult and potentially dangerous to do. A UTV would be very helpful (We didn't come across any UTV vehicle rentals available in the immediate area, but maybe we missed them). The area is buggy; I think we all got at least a few bites... but that's part of the charm of staying in a cabin in the woods on a beautiful lake. We had a wonderful time, made lasting memories, and recommend this listing.
