Mauna Ua is a very quiet, secluded home located in the lush Hawaiian rainforests of Volcano, surrounded by native hapu'us and Ohia trees. A 3 bed 2 bath vacation house that truly feels like home. From the tranquil garden, to the orchids and bananas, this is a great place to relax. Walking through the property, you will find many varieties of orchids, Antheriums and many other beautiful plants.
Inside you will find a lovely home with a well equipped kitchen, beautiful furnishings and very comfortable beds. Keep warm with the wood burning stove and plenty of firewood and kindling. Spend the evening watching TV or movies on the large flat screen tv or playing one of the many board games. The property also includes unlimited free WiFi and a library of movies.

In the morning you can have breakfast outside on the covered lanai and lose yourself listening to native birds.

- Kitchen amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, blender, Jack Lalanne juicer, coffee maker, coffee grinder, crock pot, rice cooker, toaster, waffle iron, turkey roasting pan, casserole dishes, spice rack, electric kettle, hand mixer, and everything needed for baking.

- Included with every booking is a starter supply of paper products and complimentary spices, coffee, tea, creamer and sugar!

- Home amenities include free high speed internet,WiFi, wood-burning stove, flat-screen Smart TV, Blu-ray player, movie collection, board games, furnished deck, gas grill, luggage racks, hair dryers, iron & ironing board, pack n’ play, cooler, beach umbrella, beach towels, waterproof picnic blankets, 3 parking spaces, and more!

Guests can contact the host at any time prior to their stay with any questions. Upon check in, Kyomi will be the main point of contact, although guests can still contact the host at anytime.

THE LOCATION

Mauna Ua is located in one of the quietest neighborhoods in the area. Located just minutes to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Volcano Village where there are beautiful local art galleries, glass blowing studio, yoga classes, farmers market, coffee shops and restaurants. There are countless hiking trails and and places to cycle for the more adventurous.
Surrounded by rainforest on all sides, the tranquil sounds of nature is sure to be relaxing. Easily accessible just a couple of blocks off the highway.
Easy access to numerous attractions in the area. Located only five minutes to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and just a short drive away from Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, Rainbow Falls, Akaka Falls and many other attractions.

Renting a vehicle will be necessary to easily travel around Volcano and the surrounding area. By car, the area is easily accessible. Driving to and through Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is absolutely amazing.

Kona International Airport (KOA) : 98 miles

We were in town for work for the week and wanted to stay closer to Volcano although we needed to be in Hilo every day. The drive to Hilo wasnʻt terrible and beautiful. The house itself was perfect. It had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. I didnʻt have my kids with me this trip but if I did this house would have been perfect for all of them. The yard was also beautiful although we didnʻt really get to enjoy it. Would book again.

We really enjoyed this home near Volcano National Park. The grandkids enjoyed being outside exploring and seeing the tiny lizards. The home was the perfect size for 4 adults and 2 young children.

Peaceful retreat close to Volcanoes Park

Property is private and secluded. Tricky to find if arriving after dark. The driveway is steep. Once inside it felt very cozy, tranquil, and private. Furnishings well maintained. Landscaping is beautiful. It was a great home base retreat for what we wanted to do.

Lovely home, well-appointed with everything you need and then some. Only issue was that we only had bath towels for 2, but there were 6 of us—we just used the beach towels. Property was beautiful, rustic feel but very comfortable and clean. No issues with stay.

It was clean. A towel rack was missing from the hall bathroom and we told the owner immediately. Other than that it was comfortable for the 6 of us. It's located in a quiet place.

Great location for the national park, very comfortable house

We enjoyed our stay here. 10 mins from the park. House is spacious- we were 4 of us, but could accommodate 8 people. Kids enjoyed the bunk beds. Kitchen was well equipped. We came in early, and were allowed to get in early which was very kind if them. Overall highly recommend for anyone who wants to go to VNP. The park was pretty cool. Probably only 1-2 days worth of stuff to do unless you are a very serious hiker

Wonderful Big Island Home Next to Volcanoes National Park

The house and location were ideal for our two day visit to the park. The check-in process was easy and the owners were very helpful. It takes only a few minutes to get to the entrance of Volcanoes National Park. The house was well equipped and quite large, and easily fit our six guests (two families, each with a 10-year old). We ate in one night and the kitchen had everything we needed - from wine glasses to a cheese grater. The main bedroom had a private bath and shower and the other two bedrooms shared a full bath. The two kids loved the twin bunkbeds (4 beds). The appliances were all modern and easy to use (washer/dryer, stove, etc.). I highly recommend this house and the owner was great to work with!

Simple and convenient

Our stay at this house was overall pleasant. It was not exactly as expected, but we enjoyed our stay.Pros: It's clean, close to the Volcano Park (less than 10 minutes), and has a beautiful, natural feel to it.Cons: Our first impression is that it is in a different type of community than we're used to...less...tidy and kept. Although, this house is probably the nicest one in the neighborhood. Then, the VRBO post, at the time of my booking, did not disclose that there is no air conditioning (and it does get stuffy.) Also not disclosed, the water is supplied by a rainwater cistern, and I'm not sure if it's filtered. We used bottled water for toothbrushing and washing produce/food. Last, my daughter stepped on a piece of glass about 5 minutes after we arrived, so while it's overall very clean, that was our unfortunate experience.But, once we settled in...It was a peaceful place and served us well during our days on the east coast of Hawaii. Nicely furnished with nice gardens, but needs heating on cold nights

We spent three nights at this home and found it to be well-furnished and cared for. The kitchen is well-equipped and there are lots of useful items for vacationers. It is in excellent condition and the gardens around the house are beautiful. But, as is often the case in Volcano, it was very cold at night. The house has no central heat, and the only available heat when we were there was the cast-iron stove in the living/dining area. We had some trouble lighting it, but even with it running, it was inadequate to heat the sleeping areas. We contacted the owner and property manager who were helpful but could not deliver a space heater until the 3rd night. So for the first 2 nights we slept in our clothes as the bedroom temperature was very cold. So we can happily recommend the house for warm weather, but if it is likely to be cold during your stay, you should contact the owner first to ensure that some form of additional heating will be provided.

Clean and modern house, responsive hosts. The fridge had trouble staying cold and it’s hard to get someone to fix it last minute but hopefully that got fixed already. Other than that it was a great stay!

Lava flow

Our family enjoyed the lava flow in Volcanoes, this was a perfect spot to come back to and start off from. Kiddos loved the double bunks in one room. Great place- had everything and more that we could need.

We love to hike and drive through Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It is truly amazing. During our travels, we have stayed in hotels, timeshares and vacation rentals and we have tried to bring the best of all three to our homes for your upmost comfort and feeling of home. We love to bring our family and friends wherever we go. Our family never wants to leave our home in Volcano or say good-bye to the Big Island. Fingers crossed maybe someday we will stay forever.
