Dos Lunas Cabin is surrounded by several walking trails for all. There are plenty of choices, offering a variety of difficulty.

Amidst the beautiful landscapes, wildlife abounds. Wildlife can be seen at Bonito Creek to drink and eat. A must see for everyone.

Bonito Stables / Runnels Outfitters specializes in wilderness trail riding. Located next to the Dos Lunas Cabin.

in preparation for your stay at Dos Lunas Cabin, here are a few things to go over with you:

1) If you’re unsure of how to find our cabin, we suggest using G Maps and typing in “Dos Lunas Cabin Nogal NM”.

2) Our cabin runs on solar energy and we get our water from the river, where it gets filtered before use. The filtered water is stored in containers on the roof. This makes our cabin completely self sufficient and eco-friendly!
Because of this, we recommend that you and your party not use up too much water, as it could quickly drain the water supply.

4) All trash and waste must be put in bags and left inside near the entrance. Please DO NOT leave any trash outside, especially at night. This could attract animals and put you and the local wildlife at risk and could result in a fine from the local sheriff up to $300.

5) If extra firewood is needed, please help yourself to our stockpiled firewood in front of the cabin.

5) ( NO REFRIGERATOR ON SITE ) We HIGHLY recommend you bring enough ice to last you your trip if you aren’t planning on going into town, to ensure your food and perishables don’t go bad. We provide a large empty white cooler in the cabin in case you need to use one to store your extra ice.

6) If a beeping sound coming from the Solar Battery, please restart the inverter and disconnect tv and DVD player,if the problem continue, start the power generator and connect the plug (INSTRUCTIONS IS ON THE GUIDE OF THE CABIN ) or call us immediately at any time of the day or night for assistance.

We hope you enjoy your stay at our cabin, feel free to explore the trails and take in all the views.
Have a great trip!

Hummingbird heaven

It was so so beautiful! We asked, in advance, if we could have our wedding there. It was absolutely magical! We knew we needed to cook in advance and brought extra coolers and ice to account for no fridge. The cabin is magical and all the kiddos loved the swing and watching the hummingbirds dive around from morning to night. We highly recommend this property if you're trying to get away from all the noise. We took the trail down the road (for a little while) our newly wedded family loved the whole stay!

Amazing for outdoorsy people!!

We loved it!!! It was rustic and somewhat primitive for those who aren’t familiar with using propane heaters and fireplaces. It was amazing for us! The privacy, quietness, views, the trails, and the drive up there was beautiful… the hills were covered in snow!! We love primitive camping, fishing and exploring new places and this cabin was beautiful… and the owner knew we were coming up for Christmas and set up a tree for us. Thank you!! If you want to really get away from that city life!! This is the place!!!

Extremely Disappointing

Place was not properly ready for somebody to stay there. Lighting was not very good at all and water pressure was extremely low. Place had no refrigerator and would never recommend this place to anyone.
Response from VrboOwner on 21 June 2021
Good Morning, We appreciate your feedback and we're sorry you weren't happy with your stay. In regards to your complaints: The cabin is rustic style, it doesn't have all the amenities that your standard house would have. The water pressure is fairly low because we aren't connected to the local water system, our water comes from 2 large water tanks of filtered fresh water on the roof. Our cabin also operates on solar power energy, meaning that we can't have a fridge or else it would consume all of the power needed for everything else. It was clearly stated in the amenities on our website that there wasn't a fridge. The entire aesthetic of the cabin and the area surrounding it is supposed to be a natural and environmental setting in a secluded part of the Lincoln National Forest. On that note, we also have some complaints ourselves about how your party left the state of the cabin after you checked out. You left multiple trash bags, food items and cans scattered all over the area, which the wildlife got into. If the local forest rangers had not been there only an hour after you checked out, this trash could have endangered both the wildlife and any other campers/guests in the area. We have pictures that we are willing to provide. We understand that our cabin might not be the best suited for anyone looking to stay in an almost suburban household setting. If you're looking for something more like that, there's a Hampton Inn just off the main road in town. Thank You for your feedback, we hope you can find more modern lodging well suited to your taste so you can properly in enjoy all the sights and views that Ruidoso has to offer.
