The house was so clean and stocked with everything anyone would need inside and out. The bedrooms were big and a spacious kitchen as well. We had a 3 and 4 year old who were entertained by catching and releasing frogs from the little pond in the front yard. The property was large and had great river frontage. The owners were wonderful and we would definitely rent this place again.
Our families had a wonderful time staying here. The home is beautiful with lots of space and amenities. Location to Crystal Mountain for snowboarding was perfect.
River House was perfect for our 3 generational family gathering of twelve. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and spacious. There is plenty of room to spread out, and large enough kitchen and dining areas to easily accommodate everyone. We like to cook meals from scratch and found the kitchen beautifully provisioned with plenty of work space and helpful labels to find what we needed. With its proximity to MI-115, it's convenient to many wonderful activities and destinations. Yet it feels very secluded and private, tucked into the woods overlooking the river. We especially appreciated having four bathrooms, the sunroom and game room, the second fridge, the baby equipment, and the lovely swing by the river. The owners were very welcoming to work with and always responded promptly to questions. We highly recommend it.
Beautiful location! Perfect for our family celebration. Kitchen was beautiful and had everything needed for our stay! Looking forward to returning for an extended vacation!
Property was exactly if not better than described. Excellant communication- zero issues and zero surprises. The river access was awesome as well as the fire pit and the supplied firewood. The decks gave an awesome view and place to drink morning coffee or to visit after the late night fire. Can't say enough good things about this property and the owners. Thanks for sharing it!
We stayed a week at the Riverhouse and it was excellent! The river was tranquil, there was room for everyone and the 4 seasons room was great space to be when the kids went to bed. Cindy was a gem to communicate with and was able to coordinate an early check in for tracking family members. The ONLY small quibble was from the kids as the the dart board and foose-hockey were not present and the air-hockey table was missing it's blower. We would 100% stay at the River House again and find it to be an amazing deal for all the space you get!
The setting of this house is beautiful and very relaxing. The river was lovely, the trees are beautiful and our 4 year old granddaughter had a great time watching the frogs in the lily pond! We had a campfire many nights and really appreciated all of the firewood that was available for us to use. The kitchen is extremely well stocked, and having 4 bathrooms made everything easier for our family group. We will definitely rent this house again if we have the chance!
Awesome house only a few minutes from Crystal Mountain. We had a group of 12 and everyone had a comfortable bed to sleep in, and it was great to have a home with 4 bathrooms with a group this size. The house was in great shape, and had a well equipped kitchen. Plenty of space in the home for a group our size. Pool table and other games in the finished basement, a comfortable sunroom / porch to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Would stay here again next time we visit the area - this home worked out great.
We stayed 4 nights at The River House. The location offers quiet solitude and a chance for our family to spend a few days together which doesn't happen very often. Our hosts, Cindy and Harold, have a great house in an awesome setting. They enhance the experience by making every effort to be accommodating. They are very responsive to questions and concerns and maintain excellent communication. They create a very positive experience with genuine care and concern for their guests.
First of all, the pictures of the property don't do it justice. The home was simply beautiful surrounded by woods, the river, and a sunny pond for frog watching. We vacation as a family with our adult children and their spouses 1-2 times per year. We usually look for a cabin in the woods with lots of hiking, or a condo on the beach. With this cabin, we felt like we got the best of both worlds. It is a quiet cabin in the woods with a great stream for swimming or fishing, but it is also close to absolutely gorgeous (and sometimes very quiet) beaches within 15-20 minutes. I appreciated a well-appointed kitchen with quality cookware, flatware, and appliances including coffee grinder, drip coffee maker, Keurig, an electric griddle for pancakes and French toast (which was great as we love our coffee and big breakfasts). The 3-seasons room facing the river was a favorite place for coffee in the morning while planning the day, or wine in the evening while sharing the day's memories. Some may feel that the bathrooms are dated, but they were clean and comfortable. You have to drive a good distance to find a fully stocked grocery, but the Dollar General in Thompsonville carries 80% of what you may need. Crystal Mountain is just up the street with great golf or skiing in the winter. As a family, we've decided this is one of our favorite new vacation spots.
What a great place to stay! Throughly enjoyed staying here as the host provided lots of extras and comforts. They were accommodating to our needs which made our time here for our son’s wedding much more enjoyable.
Home was well maintained and stocked with everything you could possibly need from first aid stuff (band-aids, heating pads & ibuprofen) to off property enjoyment (beach toys, chairs & towels). Plus, every kitchen appliance you could imagine.
We had the absolute best time! The house was large enough for our whole family, including kids and grandkids. The kitchen had literally everything that you could possibly need. The setting is tranquil, with the river running behind the house. The house is 20 minutes from Frankfort, a nice little beach town with a great beach. We also visited Empire Beach and Glen Arbor. They had beach chairs, toys and everything you would need for outdoor activities. We made s’mores by the fire pit that had plenty of chairs and firewood. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and we would highly recommend a stay at the River house! It was the perfect vacation for our family!!
Great location only a mile from the ski resort and on the river. Large enough for 3 families and almost every room had its own bathroom with shower. Everyone enjoyed the game room in the basement.
The home was a great, peaceful place for our staff retreat. The owners we great to work with and very accommodating. There was plenty of room for us all inside and outside. The home was clean and well cared for.
