My if and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Coconut farm. It was everything we possibly could have wished for. I would even say that our vacation in St Kitts ranks as the most relaxing and comfortable experiences we’ve had in a very long time. Special thanks to Bacchus who manages the farm and made us feel so welcome.
There is one small thing though…
I wish someone would have warned me about the rum punch down on Reggae Beach. It would’ve saved me from one particularly embarrassing evening. Word of advice: stick to Carib.
The Coconut Farm is an incredible place to stay. Beautiful setting, so peaceful with great beach and view of Nevis. Walkable restaurants and bars nearby, but do rent a car if you’re going to the grocery or frigate bay. The house is perfect with everything you could need. One of our favorite homestays we’ve ever had. Would definitely come back.
My wife and I stayed at the Coconut Farm for eight nights. The location and accommodations were perfect. Bacus the grounds keeper was friendly and attentive. The accommodations were very clean and the proximity to Cockle Shwll beach was great. Amazing views of Nevis from the second floor. You will not be disappointed.
Few places can boast such a relaxing and private stay. Easy access to the beach and restaurants. Baccus was an amazing on-site manager of the property, and he saw to our every need! The space is amply stocked with herbs and oils. You cannot go wrong staying here. It feels like ‘home’ and the view from the bedroom balcony is amazing. The outdoor shower is so fun! There is a nice cafe at the head of the driveway, so you can easily got a smoothie or something heartier for breakfast. Our fave was the Spice Mill Restaurant. Be sure to do the rum-tini tour with Roger! Definitely a ‘rush slowly’ vibe all around and we were sad to leave! If you go, please give the bunny some carrots for us and the tortoises some fresh lettuce.
I am so grateful for having the opportunity to experience a week of serenity on the Coconut Farm. It was one of the most beautiful and special environments on the planet and a vacation I'll never forget. The cottage is on the most pristine part of the island with incredible vistas is all directions looking out to Nevis Peak, the Atlantic, and mountains through the swaying palms on the farm. The cottage is so perfectly designed for the setting. We rose every morning to a gorgeous sunrise through a perfectly framed view from the bed, looking out over the veranda. We enjoyed mornings and afternoons on the veranda day bed with incredible views, sounds of nature, and breezes; and also the ground level outdoor living room for meals, lounging, and yoga. The outdoor shower with open sky and views over the mountains and sea is divine.
We are also so grateful for meeting and spending time with Bacchus on the farm. He was the kindest and most generous host. Whatever we could possibly need, Bacchus was there with an open heart, a smile, a story. He was so kind, warm, and generous to us.
The cottage was incredibly well-equipped with all we could need and more. A well-stocked kitchen and grille setup- we were able to enjoy many delicious meals here. The cottage is also close to so many great local spots for food and drinks. We loved walking to Reggae Beach during the day and had a great, authentic meal and experience here at their Friday night Lobster Fest- a must! We also enjoyed walking to the Spice Mill the first night and having amazing local mahi-mahi on the beach in a beautiful setting. All of our favorite experiences were within walking or biking distance from the cottage- there are two bikes and we could bike easily to Turtle Beach and Majors Bay (our favorite, completely empty and gorgeous beach near the ferry). We also went hiking up the hills will trails from the property for the most amazing panoramic views of the island. We used our rental car to drive the full island and without a doubt- this is the most sacred spot to be.
We cannot wait to return to the Coconut Farm Cottage! Thank you, thank you, thank you Bacchus, Gary, and Mary for sharing your home with us. Love, Michelle and Georges
Overall we really liked this location. The hosts went FAR above and beyond to accommodate us in every way possible. I am giving the property a 4 star rating as there are some things about it that might make it not a good fit for some people:
1. Property is on a farm. It is charming but there are a lot of flies, chickens and dogs-- and this is a bit of an issue as there is no indoor eating area. This was generally okay but one very windy and stormy night it meant eating on our beds upstairs as there is no table at all in the room, and for all other meals it meant fighting the flies constantly. It would have been nice if there was someplace upstairs to sit inside other than on the bed. But, it was just as depicted on the website so that is a personal preference for us.
2. The kitchen is downstairs which is as advertised but it is a bit more of a hassle than we anticipated. The kitchen has no screened windows so it's quite hot in there with the door closed but if open--lots and lots of flies. We took it upon ourselves to move the coffee maker upstairs so we could make coffee in the morning without having to get dressed and go downstairs.
3. The local beach is fantastic and so close. However, there is no place at all nearby for breakfast and sometimes even lunch so a car is imperative unless you have fully stocked your kitchen when you arrive.
I would highly recommend this property if you like to make some of your own meals (especially breakfast) and are a bit easy going.

About the host
Hosted by Penny & Michelle Pereira
Gary was born and raised on St. Kitts. He grew up fishing, camping and spending time in the kitchen at his family's hotel. Cooking remained his passion throughout the years and, after attending St. Mary's University in Nova Scotia, he moved back to the island to pursue a culinary career. He has owned and operated several beachfront restaurants on the island and he is currently the proud owner of Reggae Beach Bar and Grill.
Gary's wife Mary was born and raised in Greenwood, SC. Growing up on a farm, she knew she wanted to become a veterinarian from a young age. After graduating from Clemson University, she enrolled at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) in St. Kitts. She graduated from RUSVM and moved back to the island of St. Kitts.
Mary and Gary Pereira met while she was attending veterinary school and they have been married since 2006. They welcomed a daughter, Ava Kate, in 2012.
They love 'living de island life' and 'rushing slowly'!
Why they chose this property
In 2012 we decided to plant some coconut trees on a small acreage of land on the South East Peninsula. The soil proved to be so fertile we started planting some fruit trees and then moved on to vegetables, herbs and more fruit varieties. A few chickens were added, a stray dog showed up and since then we've started our Saturday Farmer's Market. We enjoyed the farm so much we decided to add a little cottage. We completed construction on our One Bedroom Coconut Farm Cottage in April 2018. A Two bedroom Coconut Farm Cottage was added December 2019!
The farm has evolved into a meeting place for locals and tourists alike. We have added a yoga platform and our weekly farmers market gets more popular every Saturday. A wonderful way for our visitors to meet Kittitian and Nevisian people during there stay on our farm!
What makes this property unique
The location of our property is like no other! Across the street is one of the most beautiful beaches on St Kitts. Fabulous & fun restaurants and bars are within walking distance. The water taxi to the island of Nevis is just a few minutes away. So much to do and see or just stay put on a hammock under the coconut palms and relax!
