About this property

!DISCOUNTED RATES! FULL ocean view. Rated "EXCEPTIONAL". Renovated. Top Floor.

**The condo is already booked 51% in 2024. Because of the fires, I've HEAVILY discounted some dates. Reserve your stay today before your dates are gone.**

**The condo complex is doing an elevator modernization project from roughly 9/8/2024 to 10/27/24. The elevator will not be useable during this time.**

**Hale Ono Loa condos DID NOT catch on fire. Ka'anapali, the Whalers Village, and Northward (i.e.,Honokowai, Kahana, Napili, Kapalau) WERE NOT AFFECTED by the fires. The Old Lahaina Town is closed but the rest of West Maui and the beaches are OPEN. Locals and businesses (and we vacation rental owners) need your tourism dollars so book today. **

**No, we ARE NOT being forced to give our properties to displaced residents. If you have questions, message me.**

**Airfares to Maui (and rental cars!) are DIRT CHEAP. Book your stay today.**

** Hale Ono Loa condos DO NOT have AC. But the trade breezes through the HaleOnoLoa407 are great.**

** In 2023, the condo was updated with en trend light grey paint and white trim, new white drapes, new lighting in the dining area and kitchen, new/modern coffee table, modern end tables and bedside tables, new fresh white bedside lamps, new side chair, new accessories, new patio table and 2 Adirondack style chair on the lanai. There are also added outlets for all of your chargers. **

Direct and expansive ocean views, a full view of the island of Lana'i, all the colors of the ocean, spectacular sunsets, beautiful swaying palm trees, views up and down the coastline and reef-surfing sea turtles are just a few of the daily sights you'll enjoy from this top floor, oceanfront condo located just past the resort community of Ka'anapali. Situated on the ocean side of Lower Honoapiilani Road, and just three units in from the shoreline, you will fall asleep and wake up to the soothing sounds of the ocean. You'll love the cool trade winds blowing right through the unit.

This renovated condo features an 18 foot balcony (aka lanai) overlooking the ocean, a full kitchen with custom sapele wood cabinetry, granite counter tops, an under mount sink, all stainless appliances, travertine marble tile floors throughout and Hawaii style furnishings. The chic, gut renovated bathroom has a custom sapele wood vanity, a granite counter top with an under mount sink, easy-to-step-in shower and ample storage. Clever pocket, sliding, louvered doors between the bedroom (with a king sized bed) and living area can be left open to feel the trade winds or closed for maximum privacy. Several updates have been made in 2022 and 2023 including new light grey paint, new lighting throughout and some new (less island-y!) furniture.

Though it may not seem like it, being on the top floor (level four), makes a difference view-wise and trade wind-wise. Other units on lower floors don't compare to HaleOnoLoa407.

Between roughly November and April from the private lanai or the communal sundeck, you will be treated to a spectacular sight of the annual humpback whale migration. These awesome creatures come to Maui from Alaska every year to give birth and one of their favorite locations to do so is right out front of the condo complex in the wide channel between West Maui and the islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i. In the peak months of January to March it's not uncommon to spot dozens of whales blowing and breaching directly from the lanai.

Hale Ono Loa is a mid-century, low-rise condo complex that underwent a complete exterior renovation in 2010. Guests are able to enjoy a shared pool surrounded by tall palm trees and beautiful tropical gardens filled with fragrant colorful blooms all year long, direct access to the ocean, and two sundecks one at the pool level and the other alongside the ocean . Each guest can park one car in the onsite parking lot. There are shared gas BBQ grills and a shuffle board court. Each condo is privately owned and independently rented. The ownership is a mix of folks who rent out their places full or part time and some who live there full time. It's a peaceful, more laid back alternative to the large 'resort' complexes but still conveniently located to everything.

Note 1: This unit is located in the building 'perpendicular' to Lower Honoapiilani Rd., and not in the building that runs parallel. The bedroom windows of the units in the building that run parallel (unit numbers ending in '10' through '17') all face towards Honoapiilani Rd. and the parking lot of the complex. In those units you will hear cars zooming by and car doors opening/closing day and night. The units in the perpendicular building (unit numbers ending in '01' through '09'), and especially units closer to the water, like 407, do not have road or parking lot noise. You'll only hear the ocean and the swaying palm trees. There is no AC in this unit or any unit at the Hale Ono Loa condos. The added advantage of being in the perpendicular building, and especially on the top floor like #407, is direction the units face. The orientation of these units give you optimal trade winds blowing straight through compared to the units in the parallel building. This unit was gut renovated. Many of the units in the Hale Ono Loa complex have not been renovated.

Note 2: There is NO AC in this unit or any unit in the two main buildings at the Hale Ono Loa. There is a strong ceiling fan in the bedroom and an extra floor fan. If you are sensitive to humidity and heat, this MAY NOT be the best complex for you. Please feel free to message me any questions before booking.

Note 3: The pool is open from 9am to 10pm daily. Depths range from 3' to 9'. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Note 4: Fast, stable WiFi is included. The provider is Spectrum. Internet speeds: Download 351 Mbps, Upload 25.3 Mbps

Note 5: There is onsite communal use, coin operated laundry onsite (on 2nd and 3rd floors). Bring quarters, laundry pods/detergent and dryer sheets. I've used them and they work great.

Note 6: This isn’t a 5 star resort. It’s a condo that I do my very best to maintain. While I can’t guarantee issues won’t come up during your stay, I can assure you that I will do my best to address anything that does. Mahalo for understanding. 🙂

Note 7: The Hale Ono Loa complex is composed of all privately owned condo units. Some folks live there full time and the rest, like me, use these as 2nd homes and rent them out when we aren't there. It's a relaxed, laid back, quiet complex away from the crowds of Ka'anapali and Lahaina Town.

Note 8: Check out is 11:00AM. I unfortunately cannot accommodate late check outs since my cleaning crew needs the day to prepare the condo for the next guests. If your flight is later in the day/evening and you want to check out late, please add one more night to your stay to be able to check out late on your departure day. Mahalo!

Perfect stay!
We have been coming to Maui for many years and have previously enjoyed staying at Hale Ono Loa. The location is wonderful for exploring the west side of the island and has convenient grocery shopping and restaurants. It’s a short drive to Whalers Village or Kapalua and there is a bus stop a five minute walk away. This particular unit was even more than we expected. To begin with, the view is spectacular! Sunrise, sunset and any time in between, the lanai begs you just to sit, breathe, and take it all in! The condo’s interior is comfortable and beautifully decorated. It’s kitchen has all you would need to prepare your own meals if you choose to do so. The host was exceptional. He provided clear directions for checking in and offered good advice for an enjoyable visit. Communication rates an A+ Already looking forward to our next stay!

Great location, great host, great views!
We decided to stay in West Maui to spread some tourist dollars in the area. We had lived on Oahu years ago and hadn't been back to Maui since moving back to Seattle. Our host provided all kinds of info on local places to eat and shop, and we used many of them with much satisfaction. This is a quiet top/4th floor unit that looks right out onto the island of Lanai. The area is fairly quiet, unlike the crazy hubbub of Kihei. Of course, there are numerous tourists in various condos, but also permanent residents and locals eating and shopping in the area. The unit is in an older condo development, but it is comfortable, well furnished, has all the conveniences, and every small appliance imaginable. Just one detraction for us was the TV system, Vizio. It takes a few minutes to load up and, and in spite of "emergency" instruction from our host, we were never able to get live TV, only streaming. We limped along with Prime but were still happy in our comfy condo (great bed!) in several days of severe wind advisories that kept our toes out of both the Pacific and the pool. Thanks to Steve, our host, for the relaxing 6 days! Note: Many Lahaina businesses remain open, such as Safeway and ABC.

January Vacation in Maui
My husband and I had an incredible stay and Steve’s place was the perfect relaxing spot for our week in West Maui! The view from the Lanai is amazing - saw many whales and sea turtles during our stay. We loved falling asleep with the screen door open listening to the sounds of waves hitting the coast. We enjoyed the coffee maker and watching beautiful sunsets at night. Overall great location! The recommendations provided by Steve were really helpful too for planning our trip! Wish we could have stayed longer!

Perfect home base for Maui adventure
You will fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing just steps away every evening. This condo is nicely updated with a fully appointed kitchen (with dishwasher) and cozy furnishings. The ocean view is phenomenal from the lanai, which hosts a basic patio dining set. Great spot for whale watching (there are binoculars in the condo). The complex itself is a bit dated - this isn't a luxury resort. We saw 2 units: this one was very nicely remodeled inside, and fully protected from street noise due to the prime location in the building. Between the cross-breeze from the screen doors and an overhead fan, the lack of A/C was never a problem. The PIN code lock was super convenient and made check in easy. The shared sun deck is large and not crowded. The pool is up to 9ft deep and great for cooling off, surrounded by plenty of chairs and tables (but no shade or umbrellas), as well as 2 large gas grills. The shared coin laundry facilities are fine and parking in the lot with a permit was always available. The unit includes some basic gear like a few beach towels and a couple of folding chairs for your day trips. You are a 10 minute walk from a small local beach park that was quiet and offered shade, or a 10 minute drive from numerous larger beaches that draw a tourist crowd. There are plenty of restaurants, gear shops, and grocery stores around.

My parents were raised on Maui and Lana'i. My siblings and I grew up in the midwest and were blessed to have been able to visit family in Hawai'i several times each year as children. It has always been a dream of mine to own a condo on Maui and have a place to escape the brutal winters. For so many reasons Maui is a special place for me and my family. I hope that you'll enjoy Maui and my home away from home as much as I do.

Why they chose this property

You're going to spend alot of money just getting to Maui so why settle for a condo that has mediocre ocean views (or no views of the water at all!) like many units in the complex? HaleOnoLoa407 has among the best ocean views in the whole complex b/c it's on the top floor and is only the 3rd unit in from the coast. Treat yourself. Trust me, you won't regret it. I knew as soon as I walked in the front door of the condo and saw the water views that I wanted to own and share it with others.

What makes this property unique

Note: This unit is located in the building 'perpendicular' to Lower Honoapiilani Rd., and not in the building that runs parallel. Many of the units in the Hale Ono Loa complex have not been.
