The property was amazing. Very clean and great location. Would have appreciated being better prepared to bring items such as bath towels, wash clothes, dish clothes because there were not enough for us. Thankfully, the washer and dryer were in the unit and put to use. Overall, a fantastic place and would love to stay again!

I would have given every category 5 stars except for the fact the property we reserved had the EXACT address as the same property across the street by the same condo. The directions should include that tidbit of IMPORTANT info. We were exhausted from our trip and couldn’t get into the room (had unpacked our visible and brought it all up to the 8th floor). Southern did answer my call right away. After several minutes they realized we should have been across the street. Giving that information up front should have been included with details. Everything else was great!

We were not super impressed with this condo. We love the Perdido area and have seen nice units at Shipwatch, but this particular unit leaves much to be desired. It is very dated. Old furniture, drawers that are difficult to open/shut. Needs a fresh coat of paint. Honestly just needs a total remodel. When you walk on the balcony it has nasty flood bags lining the entire balcony. I assume they’re having issues with moisture getting in the unit from outside? Either way, they were an eye sore and you had to step over gooey bags every time you step outside. Otherwise the view from the balcony was beautiful. The mattresses were very comfortable (probably our favorite part of the room), but the furniture otherwise was dated. Old bed frames, old couch that had a rip where stuffing was coming out up top. The washer is a front loader and has an obvious smell. The garbage disposal wasn’t functioning and when we tried to clean it out it had beer tops, etc from previous guests. I’ve honestly never left a negative review but we were pretty disappointed in this condo. It seems like the owners are not putting back any money into upkeep. Just overall not worth the price we paid. The grounds were decent but nothing immaculate as far as upkeep. We’ve had better stays at nearby condos.

Review for Shipwatch

The property is great and the location is great. We have stayed at Shipwatch many times and this condo was superb. The problems we ran into were with Southern Vacation Rentals that manage the reservations. They never sent us an email or text with the door code, so we waited unnecessarily for hours until we could reach them by phone. And they seemed completely unconcerned that this had happened. Also, there was a large spider in the condo which we were never quick enough to kill. We just kept our things off the floor, but it concerns me that the managers are not taking proper care of the property.

Amazing beach, great condo

We had a strange stay as the HOA was painting/repairing the exterior so the management company moved us hours before we arrived. I'll mostly exclude those event from my review. But I will say that the management company was great to work with in a situation that they couldn't control. My one complaint would be that on the day that we actually transferred to Shipwatch they didn't have us checking in until 1pm and denied early check-in, but clearly nothing had been done to the property that morning, so we wasted a morning waiting when we could have moved earlier. (And we had to move the patio furniture back outside). Still, I'm happy with Southern's handling of a tough situation. The location is really nice for seclusion. The beach could not be better and due to the smaller size of Shipwatch the beach was nearly empty. If you come just for the beach, this is ideal. It is too far to walk to almost anything except maybe Flora-Bama and Crab Trap, which still aren't close. This was my first time in Perdido Key, and I may just prefer the walkability of Orange Beach to the seclusion on Perdido - but it's a personal preference. As for the condo itself, I really loved the oversized balcony with an unbeatable beach view. The kitchen is updated and large. The couch is also new (we noticed several small differences/upgrades from the photos which should be retaken). The beds were outstanding - and I'm difficult to please with a mattress. The rest of the place was slightly dated. Nothing bad, just 90s oak furniture which I would update for esthetics, but obviously aren't too important. The biggest problem we had with the condo was that it was missing blankets for the pullout sofa (it had pillows and sheets, but nothing warmer), so we had to run to Target to buy some. As a very minor recommendation, I would like some games or playing cards to pass the rainy days but the cable TV worked well instead.

This condo is not as presented

The Condo was ok clean. The furniture was not as expected. The picture shows two couchs. We had a half of a sectional when more that one person sit on it the cushions feel off. We were told by the rental manager that they could not get the other half of the sectional on the elevator. Also there were two big areas that had been plastered but not yet painted. The key pad to get did not work properly but the manager did come and fix it. On the balcony there were three big places were the paint was peeling off. I should have been told that the place was not rental ready and offered a refund or given an option for another rental. I got a small refund of 150.00. I will never stay here again. People be ware the pictures of the rental are not what you will get. When I go to see my son at Christmas I will not stay here.
