Birch was a roomy and comfy property for our weekend get away to Door County. The location was perfect for exploring along highway 42 with restaurants, galleries and coffee close by. Loved it !!!

Our host was extremely responsive. We asked about the WiFi and he called me back right away (it was a new network and was written on the binder. Things were well labeled and easy to find. I got a Chicago feel for the decor. Very tasteful yet comfy. A new patio was installed while we were there (during the day so didn’t bother us) and it looks amazing. It will be lovely this summer. Be sure to read all the emails before you leave as the info on finding the location and getting in is there. Would love to book again.

The cottage is spacious, reasonably clean, and has beautiful bed linens. But it goes downhill quickly after that. It sits behind an abandoned, weed overgrown strip mall, and is easily missed - or maybe should be. There are bookshelves everywhere, with dozens of volumes to read. But would it have hurt to install some complementary cabinets for dishes, etc rather than hiding necessary items behind fabric curtains? There’s a college dorm fridge. No ice, and no place to get any. The freezer portion of the fridge hasn’t been defrosted in so long that an ice tray couldn’t be jammed into the space. The bathroom has no place to set down a toiletry kit. Shower is big, but dark - as the lights were apparently burned out. Getting into it requires juggling a sticking glass door, likely the byproduct of rotting drywall and framing from leakage. Adjusting the HVAC should not require cooperation with the adjoining unit, nor a tutorial from the guest guidebook.Our impression was that it was designed to look pretty but was evidently done “on the cheap.” It was disappointing enough that I informed the owner we would be leaving first thing in the morning after staying only one night.He is responsive enough, so credit given as due, but this is NOT a premium-worthy accommodation. He will argue that his prices are in-line with other properties in Door County, and that the extra fees are VRBO’s, but at the end of the day it over promised and failed to deliver.

A quiet getaway in the heart of Door County

The unit (Birch) was clean and well appointed for our stay. Great location with a sweet cafe (Sip) within walking distance across the highway.

Great place to stay and owner was great to work with. It’s a bit dated interior and not much of a “kitchenette.” It’s just the bathroom sink—but worked out fine for the purpose of our stay. Also very very clean!

Love staying at this location. This is my 3rd stay. The location is so convenient. Colin has thought of everything to make our stay wonderful. Comfy bed and fluffly big towels, and lovely shower with plenty of water pressure. There's a Keurig coffee maker, an electric teapot, a microwave, and fridge. So welcoming. We will stay there on our next trip to DC for sure.
