Apartment in an 18th century village in the regional park of the Euganean Hills
Located in a recently renovated historical building, this 110 sq m apartment is composed of 4 rooms: one master bedroom, one bedroom with double sofa bed, one attic room with double sofa bed, one big sitting room with kitchenette and two bathrooms. All rooms are tastefully furnished and combine ancient and modern furniture. Teolo is located in the northern Euganean Hills, to the west of Padua. Since the early 1900s, Teolo attracted many people and tourists thanks to a tram track that linked it directly to the administrative center. The oldest hamlet of Teolo is located on the upland between Monte Venda - the highest mountain of the Euganean Hills - and Monte della Madonna. It is well known because it is the birthplace of the famous Latin historian Titus Livius. In the 14th century, the population of Carrara chose Teolo as the regional capital of Vicaria, which survived to the domination of the Venetian Republic. The Palazzetto dei Vicari dates to that period, which is why it features a typical small tower in the middle of its façade; it is here that the aristocrats of Padua lived and managed the regional districts. Nowadays, after an appropriate restoration, the Palazzetto houses the Museum of Contemporary Art, which is named after the famous artist Dino Formaggio. The natural itinerary of Monte della Madonna, on which the Beata Vergine Assunta shrine is located, will allow you to enjoy fully the surrounding beauties. If you deviate from the planned route, you can go through the wood underlying the so-called Passo delle Fiorine, where you can find the ancient church dedicated to St Anthony the Abbot and the legendary Santa Felicita's Grotto. Moreover, in Castelnuovo you will find the Rocca Pendice Cliff, which attracts many rock-climbers thanks to its 130 m high wall. It also houses the remains of an old fortress, by now covered in vegetation, where the bishops of Padua and Carrara lived. In the 11th century, the Praglia Abbey with its elegant 16th century courtyards was built, along with a church that was renovated at the end of the 15th century based on the design project by Tullio Lombardo. Now it is home to Benedictine Monks who restore ancient books and manuscripts, but it is also a famous destination for religious tourism. Why not spending some hours in the open air and getting fit with your family? The Euganean Hills offer you the possibility to pass through typical paths, which will really give you unforgettable emotions: trekking, daytrips, bike riding, mountain bike, golf, rock climbing and the nearby adventure park called “Le Fiorine”. Grottoes, massages, pools, saunas and beauty treatments to escape stress and take care of yourselves without neglecting physical fitness. Wellness is at your fingertips. If you just want to rejuvenate mind and body, we suggest you to get to the thermal baths of Abano Terme, Montegrotto Terme, Teolo, Galzignano and Battaglia Terme, all Euganean thermal spots specialized in balneotherapy since ancient Rome... just 15 minutes away from the Domus Titus Livio. If you want to go further, we suggest you to visit Vicenza (the town of Palladio), Verona (60 km away, the town of Romeo and Juliet where you can enjoy a play in the beautiful arena), the spectacular Venice (reachable by train from the Terme Euganee station or by bus from Teolo) and Padua (the town of St Anthony and the magnificent Scrovegni chapel made by Giotto). If you are passionate about history, you can visit: 'Il Buso della Casarsa' - Valnogaredo 'Cini Castle' - Monselice (walled town) 'Castle of San Martino della Vaneza' - Cervarese Santa Croce 'Marchionale Castle' - Este (walled town) 'Castle of Valbona' - Lozzo Atestino 'Castle of Catajo' - Battaglia Terme Walled towns of Montagnana and Cittadella The Venetian villas on the Brenta River and those of the Euganean Hills. Children will love the most beautiful amusement parks of Italy located on the Lake Garda (1h by car), such as Gardaland, Movieland and Caneva Acquapark, or the Passo Fiorine adventure park just 5 minutes away from our property. About the host
Hosted by Maurizio
Maurizio, the owner’s son, lived in the apartment until summer 2014. He personally followed all the renovation stages of this 18th century historical building.
Why they chose this property
At the beginning, the apartment was intended for a personal use, which is why it is full of picturesque decorations and tasteful details. After Greta and Sofia - Martha's sisters - were born, we felt the need to enlarge our living space. Since the village is a protected historical site of Venice, we could not enlarge our house, so our family had to renovate the neighbouring house and move there. It was a German friend of ours staying in our apartment who suggested us rent the apartment to tourists. Here we are, ready to share our beautiful house with guests who love simple things, nature and tradition!
What makes this property unique
I think that our house, called Domus Tito Livio, is an oasis of peace and relax, ideal if you want to escape the stress of your everyday life. In this village we have a typical Italian lifestyle, that is to say genuine and relaxed, but Teolo is at the same time a centre of important historical sites and Venetian cities of art. You really cannot miss this experience!
