I've been fortunate to live all over the world, but I always love coming home to the magic of Mammoth Lakes, CA.

I'm a mom to four rowdy boys and I've loved the same guy, a test pilot, for 25 years. Our life together has been a true adventure.

Since starting Adventure Refined I've been recognized as a Superhost, Premier Partner at VRBO/HA. I am a Community Advisor to Expedia, and have appeared on A&E's Rental Potential as an industry expert.

I'll be your reservation point-of-contact for properties managed by Adventure Refined and look forward to working with you, before, during and after your stay!

Why they chose this property

We have always admired the custom home building of local developer John Hooper. His attention to quality construction caught the eye of my engineer husband. His high-quality finishes caught my eye, too. And we wished we could buy into one of his projects. But the timing was never right. It was like that guy you wanted to date in high school, but whenever you were available he wasn't taking the hint and whenever he was available and attentive, you were committed to someone else. But then, after years of thinking about him, you see his relationship status change on social media, you don't waste any time dropping a DM, and voila. Next thing you know you're raising a couple of kids and a dog together. We were so lucky to have just that kind of timing on this townhouse with John. After bad timing with the initial sale of the homes, we were so lucky to have a second chance just a few months ago. When he called, we scrambled to Mammoth and within a few hours were frantically picking flooring and finishes. And we are so grateful. My kids love lying in the bunkroom or second master and watching the gondola pass overhead. We all love having drinks on the balcony while the bears cruise through at dusk. We've already made so many great memories in this home, but we can't wait to be in this incredible location when ski season rolls around again. This is going to be the best night of lights ever.

What makes this property unique

Why do we call it Apogee Mammoth?

When we were choosing a name for our new place, our family brainstormed lots of options but easily and quickly settled on Apogee. Why? Because it perfectly describes our the home itself (of course, Apogee is just the tops for ski homes with its prime location and exceptional builder) but also what we love as a family.

My husband, a test pilot, has dreamt of space and its exploration for most of his life. In fact, I have a photo of him at 6 months old, holding the Chicago Tribune special edition of the moon landing. We still have that newspaper hanging in our home today, more than 50 years later. Maybe that photo wasn't his idea, but over his life, he developed a true love affair with space and its pursuit.

With a dad like that, how could our kids not love astronomy? We have traveled widely to find dark sky and to chase astronomical events like the eclipse of 2107. And when we are home, one of our favorite things to do is to search the night sky. One of my sons, an avid photographer, experiments with astrophotography. Some of the photos in our homes were taken by him.
