Experience log cabin living in a true Nature Lover's Paradise. Visit A 'GEM' in the Forest and leave your troubles behind. Located in 'The Land of the Waterfalls,' this cozy log cabin is situated on 17 private acres with its own trout pond. We do not allow "catch and release" and there is a per pound charge for fish caught.

Comfort in a rustic, private setting, this adorable cabin has it all. The property is located at the top of a gravel road. Rear Wheel Drive , low clearance, and hybrid vehicles are not recommended. Absolutely NO campers or trailers of any kind permitted. Fully furnished throughout, the master bedroom has a king-size bed and the 2nd bedroom has a queen-size and a twin bed. Warm yourself by the wood-burning fireplace, or relax in a rocker on the huge covered porch.

If you enjoy hiking, fishing, mountain biking, waterfalls, wildlife, outdoor adventures, or just plain relaxing, you are just going to love A 'GEM' in the Forest! Area attractions include the NEW Dupont State Forest which is home to High, Triple, and Hooker Falls (three miles away), Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests, Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock Park, Grandfather Mountain, and Cherokee Indian Reservation and Casino.

Nice private getaway

The cabin was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Lake is well stocked. A little too stocked for my taste. It was so easy to catch the fish that almost everytime you cadt, they immediately hit. Not much skill for an avid fisherman. Owner was attentive and very helpful.

Wonderful relaxing getaway!

Beautiful secluded cabin surrounded by the forest. Perfect location for exploring this area of NC. Great hiking trails and tons of waterfalls.

It’s a real GEM!

This is a beautiful serene cabin tucked up in the mountain and we really love staying here. Such a peaceful experience and a must see. Look forward to many more stays in the future.

Perfect anniversary getaway

“Gem” was exactly what we needed for our anniversary getaway. The house was immaculate and well equipped with everything we could have wanted. The king bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the hummingbirds during the day and the fireflies in the evenings. Our only complaint was that 4 nights was not enough time!

Nice, cozy cabin

Myself and two teenage sons very much enjoyed our stay in the cabin. The location was great for getting to DuPont, Pisgah and Brevard. The cabin was a perfect size for us and Brenda was very responsive and accommodating. The trout pond was a bonus!!

2nd visit

We had another great stay at “Gem in the forest”. This was our 2nd time staying there. Enjoyed the peace and quiet. We also enjoyed fishing with our hand lines. Caught a few big trout! Great memories for our Anniversary!

Lovely cabin - so close the Dupont waterfalls!

My husband, grandson and I spent 4 days in this rustic cabin in the woods and had a wonderful time. It was so peaceful sitting by the pond in the afternoons while my grandson fished. He only caught a couple small bluegill but enjoyed himself so much. It was just a short drive to the High Falls trail, and the hike and waterfalls were incredible. Check in and out were both easy and our hosts were quick to respond when we had questions. Would highly recommend this property.

I missed out

I was booked for this vacation but some things came up and I couldn’t make it. My family got to go and they had a really great time. They bragged on how beautiful the cabin and the property was and all the surroundings and they said they would love to go back to the same location again hopefully next year I can book the same cabin and enjoy it for myself I can’t wait, miss Brenda was absolutely amazing at working with me when I wasn’t able to make it myself thank you

Cozy Cabin

We enjoyed our stay at Brenda”s cabin. It had everything we needed to prepare meals. My grandson loved the fishing pond and he caught two nice size trouts. That made his day! It is very convenient to the visitor center in DuPont State Forest where you can hike to several waterfalls. We tubed the French Broad and had dinner in Brevard. It’s about a 50 minute drive to Zen tubing. Highly recommend them - Lots of fun.

Home away from home

The moment we pulled into the driveway we felt at home, the house and the property is beautiful and we love the pond. The rocking chairs on the front porch are truly relaxing. The house is small but ideal for a couple or small family. The kitchen was very well equipped, the living room was relaxing and the bed comfortable. If you enjoy fishing I suggest you come prepared to catch some big trout that put up a wonderful fight and the $4.00/lb price is very reasonable. I'm sure we will be back. Just a couple of notes to the property owner, The backdoor doesn't open. should be an easy fix and a cabinet pull came apart on the door under the sink.
