Lovely stay and close to the slopes (15 min.) . It was neat and clean and the wooded trail down to the water was great.
It’s one of the better places we stayed.
This was our second time staying at the cottage, and we had the most amazing time! The house is cozy and comfortable, very clean. The property is just stunning, and the trail to the river is so unique and enjoyable. We had some rainy/storm weather but we hardly noticed - the home is super comfy and is well suited for all seasons. The location is convenient to Lincoln/Woodstock with plenty to do and places to eat/shop. The host, Stephani is very attentive and accommodating. Thank you so much for having us, we hope to be back soon!!
Rented for 6 weeks and the cottage became a true home away from home ... but better. We loved wandering the trails, the fire pit and a feeling of being really away, while close to everything we needed. The proximity to Loon, Waterville and Franconia Notch was excellent. We miss it already.
Stayed two nights with my husband and our 5 and 8yo. The house was perfect with lots of games and toys for my children to explore. We loved the walk down to the pond and the river which was a great way to exercise our pup in the mornings. Thank you so much!
We love this house so much we’ve been staying here for over a decade. Kids, dogs, everyone agree - it’s our favorite spot to stay. House is just perfect. The property is amazing. Perfect distance to all the White Mountains have to offer.
We wanted to stay in NH for a few days after getting our son from sleepaway camp and really enjoy some family time. This home was perfect! It was clean and cozy with lots of lamps. We loved the walking trail to the river and the backyard ambiance. Everything about this home and our stay was perfect!
We’re a family of 5, and there were plenty of beds and very cozy. LOVED the access to walks/woods/river. So beautiful and peaceful. Very clean, all the usual amenities there. Thank you!
Stayed here for my dad’s memorial weekend. He would have loved it here, very peaceful, beautiful area, yard is great, as is the river access. Thank you

Peaceful Getaway
Lovely 3 bedroom cottage, that is absolutely maticulous. We had a great dog friendly time, exploring the trails right on property that lead to the Pemi River. Nice getaway within minutes of conveniences and Waterville Valley.
Perfect home with all the necessities for a ski weekend! Close to Loon and many other mountains. We went to the Ice Castles, tubing, skiing, and the hill to the river is another spot for sledding. This was a great weekend! We'll be back!
Cottage was well appointed- anything you might need was there! We’ve been to many Vrbo homes and this one was by far one of the cleanest (much appreciated)! The property is amazing with a very special walk to the river. Plenty of room for our family of 5 adults Thank you for a lovely stay.
Ps.. the only thing we might suggest is screens to be installed in the bedrooms for fresh air…thanks!
Great, quiet house on a large piece of land with privacy and close enough to local attractions for us. There's plenty of river access for swimming and picnicking nearby. If our kids were older we would have taken them to the river access areas more but some parts were too steep and rocky for their little legs. Teenagers would love it I'm sure. We stayed at the house while there and took day trips to Loon, Echo Lake, Lost River Gorge and Santa's Village. We have no complaints whatsoever.
We had an amazing stay! The house is exactly as pictured, and very comfortable and homey. The property was a perfect peaceful retreat for us and our pup - we had a great time walking the trails and swimming in the river, and making s’mores by the fire. The house has clearly been well maintained, with love, to be a family home away from home. It’s also a surprisingly close drive (~10-15 minutes!!) to restaurants, shops, and groceries (price chopper has everything including decent produce).
The host reached out to us before our stay with some tips for keeping the house cool because it’s been an exceptionally hot summer, but we had no issues, it was nice and cool despite being super hot outside! And of course cooling off in the river definitely helped :)
We definitely would book again!

Everything you could ask for and a great price too!
We’re from Orlando and we were looking for a place with snow. This cottage did not disappoint. It sits on tons of land waiting to be explored. We found a couple sledding hills and made a hike through the forest to the nearby river. The scenery is beautiful. Inside, there is just about anything you could ask for, including board games, games/toys for the kids, movies, Apple TV, etc. Everything you need to cook is there, a fridge, stove, microwave, etc. the kids loved sleeping in the bunk beds upstairs. Loon Mountain and Waterville Valley are close by too. We don’t ski, but we had a blast snow tubing at both places. We highly recommend it and we will most likely be back if we’re up that way again!

A beautiful, family friendly retreat
We arrived on Friday and within 45 minutes my kids were in their snow clothes and out to door to try out the sleds. Grabbed my snowshoes and our dog and headed out back to check out the path to the river. When we came back inside, my daughter started exploring the house and found the drawer of kids games. What a fun property. I wish we had had more time to explore and relax. We had 8 guests and a dog staying here and we were comfortable. A quick drive to Loon and we got to enjoy 9 inches of fresh powder. Stephani was quick to answer questions. The house was also very clean and nicely decorated. We are exploring coming up for a summer trip since we all enjoyed our weekend.
Worked well for our family of 4 as a base of ops in the White Mountains!
Stephani's cottage is truly lovely. I felt a charming sense of the history of the place -- and its relationship to the White Mountains -- while staying there. We loved the well-stocked kitchen and the interesting art on the walls. The living room is comfortable, and well-equipped with games and puzzles. There are tons of interesting books throughout the house, on dedicated bookshelves. That is something I always LOVE in a vacation rental!! The kids bunkroom looked like a fun place for little kids (my teens were too cool to appreciate it much). The cottage does not have air conditioning, though, and it was swelteringly hot and humid during our stay. Probably - as climate change gets worse, the cottage owners will have to have AC installed at some point. Otherwise, we loved this place. It is clearly much beloved by its owner family -- and that also made it feel special.

More than we ever hoped for!
This beautiful cottage was more than we ever expected during our 1-week stay. The house itself is cozy, warm, and inviting from the instant you walk through the door. The mix of antique and contemporary decor complement each other so nicely...makes me want to redecorate my own home! When I tell you to bring your clothes and personal items only, I mean it. Shampoo, lotion, bed linens, towels, bug spray, detergent, condiments-- you name it, they've got it! Many of the drawers are labeled so it's easy to find the items you're looking for. All kinds of games and DVD's/VHS tapes were provided for rainy days or late nights. Books galore as well as visitor guides/hiking books also kept us occupied as we planned out each day. Although we packed some toys for our 11-month-old, he enjoyed playing with the "new" toys at the cottage...and he slept like a champ in the pack-and-play provided. The location was perfect--- a short drive to so many hiking trails, restaurants, and cute shops.
Our favorite activity before starting our day was taking an early morning walk, with coffee in hand, down to the beaver pond and continuing onto the river. We were lucky to catch a glimpse of the beavers but had to sneak up on them-- otherwise, they'd disappear underwater. Saw deer in the clearing and my husband was convinced it was a moose that left us a "present" on the trail. :) Hmmmm...
Stephani and Jeremy--thank you, thank you, thank you-- your beautiful house is such a hidden gem. I had to keep telling myself that we'd be back sometime soon in order to help me feel better about leaving!
After falling in love with the white mountains and NH last Fall and realizing a short 4 days trip, when two of those days are eaten up by driving, was too short, we immediately looked for a base camp for a week. We stumbled upon Stephani's property and so grateful we did!
The cabin is adorable. While close to the road, it is far enough back when we didn't worry about our kids running in the grass and being too close to the street. The lawn is massive and well tended. The signage to the river is easy to follow. There are two very small "board bridge" crossings that could use some TLC but nothing that was too hard to navigate, even for our 3 year old. The walk to the river is .5 miles from the cabin and while not quick, is easy to navigate and really pretty.
We spent the week hiking, at the beach and playing in the river. The rope swing a previous visitor mentioned was one of the highlights for our kids. The house is in the perfect location as a base for all the fun things.
The beds are very comfortable. The house is the perfect size for our family of 6. Two bathrooms made it convenient to avoid fighting on who goes first. The kitchen appliances are older but worked fine. We cooked all our meals but one (exit 28 pizza is incredible, particularly their white based (ricotta) calzones). The coffee maker worked like a charm.
There is no AC but there were fans in every room and we opened the windows. Even during a mid August stay, we were able to cool down the bedrooms pretty efficiently. The washer was broken while we were there, which we had planned to use since our stay was so long and we had to change clothes a lot with all the hiking. Stephani generously offered an alternative due to the inconvenience and we were so grateful for the thought and gesture. Also for the clean clothes haha.
The area does NOT mask for those who are covid conscious, like us. Highly recommend using Walmarts online ordering and curbside pickup for groceries. And just be mindful that mask use was almost nonexistent (coming from the outskirts of DC during the height of Delta, this was strange and nerve-wracking).
The kitchen has pots, pans, etc. However the spices were limited (no garlic powder even). So if you're planning on cooking a lot, might want to add those to your grocery list. The nearby country cupboard has spices and is adorable.
We had the most amazing week and are so grateful to Stephani for sharing her beautiful home with us. We will be back!

Wonderful getaway spot for Memorial Day, close to everything but the property is secluded and serene. It was clean and comfortable. Looked like there was beaver activity behind the property in the brook. Wish we’d had another day! We’d absolutely come back.

About the host
Hosted by Stephani Buchman
The cottage is co-owned by Stephani, her sister, Naomi, and her mother, Judy. Stephani hosts the house with her mother, Judy, the secondary host. Stephani lives in Toronto with her husband, three teenage children, two dogs and a cat. Naomi lives in New York, and Judy lives in Philadelphia. They built the cottage as a year-round place to vacation in New Hampshire and share this incredible part of the world with others.
Why they chose this property
The property on which the cottage is built has been in our family since 1929. My Grandmother's parents built as small cottage (Wadcheeaukee East) when she and her siblings were teenagers. Her family spent summers there, then eventually my grandmother spent summers there, and my mother, sister and I would visit in the summers. Eventually, my sister and I inherited the property and because we wanted to preserve the family history, we thought that we should build another cottage on the lot (the original cottage is too small) so that we could take our families there and share our love of the White Mountains, and the New Hampshire area.
What makes this property unique
We have made the cottage the perfect mountain retreat with a knotty pine interior and vintage decor. The house sits on a large open field where you can play outdoor games. The back features a firepit, picnic tables, and hammock, all canopied by trees and string lights. We have created an easy hiking trail to the river with a view of the mountains and pond along the way. The location is quiet and peaceful, yet close to swimming holes, hiking, and other towns for activities, dinner and shopping.
