Beautiful Cabin. But.... No Closets...No Hooks...No Coat rack. Had to lay our suitcases on the floor and hang clothing on the stair rail. Nice Queen Bed upstairs...but beware older folks, you have to go downstairs to pee at night ! Nice shower. Nice dishes. Great fireplace.Dining table nice...but no light above it; too dark to play cards. TV "antenna " work good...once we figured it out ! ( input which when u change channels...count to 10 to wait for channel to "come in". Instructions woild have been Nice !. Fyi teflon coming off in sauce pan. Should listi g not have to say " No WiFi"??Lovely to see and hear Sandhill Cranes fly overhead.
Went to Kearney to watch the crane migration. Incredible experience. The property is ideally located as it is in the heart of crane viewing. Everything relating to the property was as advertised and very good. If I had one suggestion it would be to enhance cell service.
Wonderful place! We loved the cute cabin, the country atmosphere, the creek in back and sandhill cranes. Very accommodating owner: we originally booked 2 nights during crane season and ended up staying 5!
The cabin was so clean and cozy with a gorgeous stone fireplace and comfortable furnishings. We were visiting the area to view the Sandhill crane migration, and their flight pattern was right over the cabin. The cabin was close to town but seemed remote.
My family has stayed here several times and will always look for this cabin first. The hosts are accommodating and it has always been a pleasure to stay here. I will always recommend staying here.
Liked it so much we stayed an extra day. The app wouldn't let us extend the day so we messaged the host who quickly facilitated. We enjoyed the movies, games, kitchen, fireplace, and house property area to walk in. Will definitely return/recommend to others.
Our visit was for a funeral. We picked this location because we had to bring our fur baby. We didn’t want to stay in a hotel in case he barked while we were attending the funeral. The location was easy to access just on the outskirts of town. Quite little neighborhood.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was cozy, clean, and in a great location outside of town but not too far outside of town. Check-in process was very easy. We will be back next time we are in the area!
We had a wonderful stay. The cabin is comfortable and we all really enjoyed our time there.
Check in and out was really easy.
I would recommend staying here to anyone.
This is a great spot to stay while watching the Sandhill Crane migration. Close to all the good birding spots! And so nice to come back and relax by the fireplace. Fully equipped kitchen. We'll be back!
Thanks so much for sharing your lovely cabin with us. A few highlights. Waking up to a family of deer along the crystal-clear creek right outside the back door. Returning from a day of hiking the trails to curl up with a movie ("Remember the Titans") in front of that incredible fireplace. The unmistakable feeling of "home" that comes across in every detail.
Idyllic location on the Platte River. An Authentic experience and modern comforts combine to showcase the beauty of the Platte Valley. Close to Kearney’s endless resources and far enough removed to give guests a tranquil spot to rest, revive, and celebrate all at once.
I travel to Kearney for work quite a bit. This place was perfect for my family. It is so close to town yet you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. The seclusion was perfect for my family and I. We enjoyed our stay and walking the trails throughout the property! 5 stars for sure!
We have made it a tradition to stay here with our kids every fall. It started as just a close to home getaway since the kids were so little and it turned into an annual tradition. We keep coming back because the setting is just so wonderful. Secluded yet close to town! The cabin is always so welcoming and comforting. Our host reached out about the coffee pot being broken and asked if we needed one. We said yes we would like to have coffee and she brought one right away. So much fun stuff for little kids. We even saw some wildlife, a raccoon in the creek bathing. It was so cute! We hope to help this tradition for years to come.

About the host
Hosted by Nicole Straka
I've been a Realtor for 23 years and my husband has been a builder/contractor for over 35 years. We have four kids and two dogs!
Why they chose this property
My husband and I are new to the hosting biz, but have been renting out our cabin for about 7 months now and are loving it! My husband is a builder and built our cabin for our family about 7 or 8 years ago. He laid up the fireplace and inserted a few rocks he found on the property while digging in the dirt! And his dad was a welder his whole life so he welded the metal stair railing for us! Lots of love has gone into our cabin! We still have our garden out there and go there for a quick evening get away when we have time. Our kids are teenagers now and have gotten very busy so we don't get out there as much as we'd like. That's why we decided to start letting other people enjoy it!
What makes this property unique
We love the wildlife, and the peace and quick that the cabin offers! During the spring, the Sandhill Cranes are everywhere and so loud! In the fall we see deer and turkeys, and some other random wildlife occasionally. It feels like a vacation spot, yet it's so close to town and the amenities!
