Great family getaway
Me and my family had a lot of fun during our stay I lived that I could bring my dog and right up the street take off walking in the mountains. My kids enjoyed the hot tub and it was just a short drive to take the grandkids to the park and then do some shopping. .

Great for stargazing!
We enjoyed our stay. It is centrally located and great spot for stargazing. The A.C. Doesn’t work great and seems to be set at a temp. It was warm. I appreciate sleeping in the cold. It was not even cool. Upstairs especially. I suggest the owners by some fans or guests throw one in tbe trunk! Otherwise it was great.

About the host

We are a family that loves to travel near and far! We enjoy all outdoor activities including hiking, back packing, white water rafting and skiing. We enjoy family board games, reading, cooking, and finding new and interesting people to meet. We want others to explore the Kern River Valley and the bountiful beauty of local trails right outside our front door!

Why they chose this property

My husband camped here as a child every summer. So when we had the opportunity to relocate from a busy city we decided Kernville's open blue skies and quite starry nights was the perfect location. When we relax in the early mornings and sip coffee we observe chirping birds and watch as a doe and her young fawns graze on the mimosa leaves. In the evenings we listen to the songs of frogs, crickets, and the roaring river. This property offers peace and solitude but is a short walk (or drive) from downtown and the best Brewery in California!

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location! The views are amazing from any window and the sunsets rival any in Hawaii. Walk to the river and dip your feet, hike to Bull Run and swim in a series of cascading waterfalls. Drink in the night ski while sitting around the firepit and sink into a cozy bed at the end of a full day!
