About this property

Sleep to the sound of the sea.

Kilbaha cottage is uniquely perched on one end of Kilbaha Bay in Loop Head, with panoramic views over the Atlantic and the ships and fishing boats that pass it's door. Set in ten acres just off the Wild Atlantic Way, it has a rocky cove on the shore and endless scope for exploration, be it with bucket and spade or binoculars.
Loop Head is still a well kept secret and visitors find it unspoilt and deserving of it's many awards. A recent one being the European Destination of Excellence.
The house has recently had an extensive refit, which kept all that makes it special, but adding a wet room, wood burning stove and a new shower area near the sauna.
The three bedrooms are double with the master suite having it's own bathroom.
A separate loft room over the kitchen is a quiet space to read or watch a movie and usually a gathering place for the children.
While there is a wonderful sense of remoteness in Loop Head you are never far from a great meal or a small harbour to pick up your lobster and crab for dinner.
You can see the lobster pots being emptied outside the house by the local fishermen, and drive to the harbour to get the freshest catch imaginable.

Please note our changeover day is Saturday.

Kilbaha Paradise

Lovely home - fantastic location. Inspiring moonrises and sunsets daily. You are living directly on the ocean - mesmerizing vies in all directions. Home was clean, bright and offered tremendous views. Host - Ciara - is enchanting. Local area is quite rural - you definitely need a car. Spent three days at local sites, and hiking. Several small and charming towns with much to do within 20+ minutes drive. Please do not miss the cliff hike in Kilkee. Kilbaha Cottage was exceptional.

A Fabulous Place

We really enjoyed staying here in this fabulous place. The setting is beautiful - crashing waves below and a gorgeous view to the sea. The house is wonderful, large with many amenities. It was great to be met by the host's mother to show us around the house. The owners are very responsive to any inquiries. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the Ireland.

Such beauty

Just a beautiful cottage and location. We’ve stayed at Kilbaha Cottage on several occasions, but each time we are still amazed at the beauty of Kilcloher. The cottage is lovely as well. Clean, well supplied and tastefully decorated. Thanks for a brilliant holiday!

Family vacation

Unbelievable views, beautiful home, amazing host. This was our first time getting away as a family in a few years, and it was by far our best vacation ever! Everyone unplugged, relaxed and unwound. The house does not disappoint. Ocean views from all the windows. There are not enough superlatives to describe it. We will be back again!

Family bucket list

Our first time to Ireland, and I was very happy with my choice to rent this lovely cottage by the sea. The views from the cottage are truly breathtaking and the cottage is so cozy. Loved sitting by the wood stove at night after a long day of sight seeing. County Clare is beautiful and peaceful. Ciara was a wonderful hostess. If you are looking to see the beautiful country side of Ireland, this is the place to go.

Unbelievable view

Kilbaha Cottage is incredible. The views cannot be described and photos do not begin to capture the beauty. We were lucky enough to experience beautiful sunny days and also a few rainy and blustery days to see the majesty of the Irish Atlantic. The cottage itself is well appointed, clean and comfortable. Can’t wait to come back.

Extraordinary

This house is an extraordinary place to spend your holidays. The view to the sea and the cliffs is spectacular. We even enjoyed the stormy times by watching the waves through the windows and by using the sauna. The house is spacious (even for 6 persons there is enough space to enjoy and relax). It's very tasteful and beautiful furnished and well equipped. We enioyed every minute of our stay there and can highly recommend it.

Father/Daughter Trip

This is the most wonderful property! The views are breathtaking. Once you figure out driving on the roads (I’m American) it’s a piece of cake. We enjoyed the pub, 2.25 miles down the road. Our favorite part of our trip to Ireland was this piece of heaven. Could not recommend this cottage enough. Definitely worth the stay.

Christmas by the sound of the sea

This property is in a spectacular location but also inside it is really well equipped and full of lovely features. The sea and the wind batter the cottage one minute and then out comes the sun and all is forgiven. It is very snug and beds very comfortable and warm. The owner even put up Christmas decorations and a tree for us. How good is that ?

Amazing location and a beautiful house

We stayed in this beautiful house for a week over New Year and were entertained with 2 powerful and exciting storms. The house has everything you might need - the log stove was especially great to sit around and warm ourselves on a stormy night. Although remote, the location is excellent for exploring the Wild Atlantic Way. There are plenty of decent restaurant nearby (eg. The Long Dock). Thank you to Ciara and Helen for being such helpful and responsive hosts. I cannot recommend this property more highly. Noel & Fiona.

Just keeps getting better

This is our 3rd stay at this lovely cottage and each time gets better. The cottage is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans. The bed we slept in is very comfortable. Keating's bar is very close to pop in for a pint or for dinner. Bernie remembered us after not seeing us for three years, as well as the ladies at Kilbaha Gallery. It was nice to feel so welcomed-you don't always get that when you travel but you certainly do in this little corner of Ireland! The cottage is nicely located for day trips to Doolin, Bunratty, etc. Food shopping is close by in both Kilkee and Kilrush. We were lucky enough to see Dolphins swimming in front of the cottage. If you are looking for a quiet place in comfortable surroundings, this is the place to be!

Heaven on earth!

This was our second stay in this wonderful home! We stayed in 2010, and coming back this year we were stunned with the beautiful upgrades! The evenings were so relaxing with the fire, the waves crashing so relaxing. Everything you need is here. So lovely to wake up to the beautiful view. The whole home is comfy, peaceful and relaxing. If you are looking for solitude, but yet not too far from everything, this is it. Being later in the year when we stayed, a lot of things are closed for the season such as the dolphin watch out of Carrighaholt, and Keatings Pub only open on weekends. But it is not that far of drive to Doolin to the Cliffs of Moher, Burren Perfumery and other attractions. Kilkee and Kilrush are very close for shopping, pubs and cafes. After a long day of attractions or hiking it was nice to come back and sit in the sauna or soak in the tub. Ciara is very helpful and friendly, even sent us a text to see if we needed anything. I highly recommend a stay at this cottage-you won't be disappointed!

Sea Pinks and Surf

WOW!! This property is amazing! Our first attempt at visiting this place was for May of 2020. Well we all know how that went. For the last three years we just kept our eyes on it trying to find the right time. I was totally grabbed by the photos and description of the place, and as beautiful as they are, don’t do it justice! The location is purely magical. Perched on a spit of land at the edge of the sea. Very private with views in all directions. If you’re looking for that city life vibe, this place ain’t it, but if you want to get outside and experience the beauty of the rural side of the Emerald Isle you are HOME! Great hikes and sites are just virtually out the front door. The people we met were warm and inviting. The Kilbaha Gallery is a must visit if for nothing more than the conversation! Keatings, a seaside Pub just a 5 minute drive. Everyone raves about the Cliffs of Mohr. Yes, we went but don’t miss the cliff walk at Kilkee! Just 20 minutes away vs an hour and a half. Truly stunning! Now the house itself. Perfect! You can tell this isn’t just a rental. It’s their home. The personal touches, comfortable beds and furniture make this lovely place a true gem. Great showers! (Kinda my thing 🙂) plus a sauna! The open concept, well stocked, kitchen was great! Ciara was a great host! Check in was a breeze. On our last day my wife and I looked at each other with the same thought. We weren’t ready to leave. So we already booked our return for next year!

A place where your soul comes home

The beauty of this completely private location, on its own headland looking out over the Dingle peninsular is so liberating and relaxing. Ciara and Damien have a wonderful eye for design, using impressive hard materials with touches of colour and beautiful fabrics which they so generously entrust to those who stay. That's before you even start looking at the paintings and photographs. The views from all the rooms are fabulous and being able to walk down those huge slabs of basalt rock to swim below the cottage was just glorious (we were there during the 32 degree heatwave mind you!) Would love to return one day and see it all in a storm. Horseriding along the beach and mountains at Mountain View Riding Centre in Lisdoonvarna was the highlight for our daughter, who may return to work a season with them! Loophead's own cliffs and the bridges of Ross are impressive, and if going further north it's worth putting up with the commercialisation and booking the very reasonably priced, hour long boat trip from Doolin to see the Cliffs of Moher from the sea: the main sea stack is magnificent and you get to see puffins and hundreds of birds that have colonised the area. Also, the Dolphins in the Shannon estuary : we booked it from Carrigaholt (next to the friendliest, prettiest post office) - the two biologists on board were so informative about not just the dolphins, of which we saw many, but the whole area. You can get fresh fish, lobster, crab and samphire from Sea Lyons on the slipway near where you catch the boat and take it home on your return. Also, there's delicious ice cream and great breads at the Long Dock's deli. Good wines and craft beers at the Kilkee Off Licence a few doors down from Mace. But wise to stock up on fresh fruit & veg when you come past Tesco en route - or maybe that was because of the long hard winter followed by an historic heatwave. The whole place is beguiling: so Irish. Thank you Ciara and Damien, wishing you all the best in life.

Kilbaha Cottage holds many wonderful memories for me and my family and is a perfect place to relax and kick back.

Why they chose this property

I spent my childhood summers in this house and have wonderful memories of running to see the dolphins just off the rocks and collecting shells in the many rock pools on the shore. There are sailing courses for children in Kilrush which I enjoyed and of course the many picnics on the nearby beaches.
It's a very special house for adults and children alike.

What makes this property unique

Although the house is a holiday home it has everything you might need for your stay. The stunning view and rock pools draw you outside while the sauna is relaxing after a dip in the cove.
