Nestled at the base of the Massanutten Mountains on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River (100 feet of frontage), this cozy house is the perfect base for adventures or a restful getaway. Fishing, hiking, rafting, antique shopping, wine tasting, exploring caverns or visiting historic sites are just some of the possibilities. Our 2-bedroom house is an ideal getaway for a small group or family and is only 90 miles from DC and 15 miles away from the North entrance of Shenandoah National Park.
The house is on a wooded lot near the end of a quiet road. A large screened porch faces the river and is great for dining, board games or simply relaxing and listening to the sounds of nature. The porch has lighting as well as ceiling fans to keep things cool. There is additional outdoor seating on the deck and a fire pit just down the back steps. The area is home to abundant wildlife and small creatures including deer, river otter, ground hogs, a variety of birds, bear as well as many insects and reptiles so prepare to convene with nature!
For entertainment, there's a variety of options: books, puzzles, games, movies (DVD) and music.
The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dishes and utensils as well as some basic spices.
Bedroom linens and bathroom towels are provided for each guest.
Air conditioning is available and most rooms have a ceiling fan for additional / alternate cooling.
The peaceful and friendly town of Strasburg is just 10 minutes away and offers a number of delicious dining options including a variety of restaurants, a bakery, ice cream shop and a couple of breweries. Take a tour of the town and enjoy all the murals painted by professional artists. At just 15 miles away, Front Royal is your gateway to Shenandoah National Park and the famous Skyline Drive … explore the visitors center, get out for a hike or jump into a rafting adventure!
