House was nice, comfortable and clean. Heat was off when we arrived so pretty chilly. The entrance was tight trying to get the boat in. All in all it’s a nice place. Reservation was tricky as it told me that I would have to return later to try and reserve unit. Next day I checked and I was charged all 3 try’s. It was straightened out by the end of the day.
Thank you.
Sweet little house, very comfortable and cozy. The house smelled like roasted marshmallows! As a woman staying alone for 4 nights I felt very safe, the screen door has a lock and the front door has a dead-bolt. I loved having coffee on the deck each morning, and a fire in the fire pit. I could hear owls hooting and frogs chirping every night, along with a very amorous male deer the last night I was there.
The neighborhood was pretty quiet aside from some dogs barking, but that can't be helped. I'd definitely stay here again, alone or with friends.
My husband and I stayed in Wilderness Cottage the second week in August. We live in Nashville, Tennessee and the heat index at home was 107 degrees the day we arrived at the cabin. At the cabin, it was a high of 73. (The highest temp was 83 the entire week.) We didn’t know much about the area before or we booked other than rural and what the temperature map told us. We are so glad we chose the Hinckley area and specifically the Wilderness Cabin. It was a beautiful escape from the heat. The cabin and natural surroundings were just like the pictures. No special camera angles to make it look more secluded. The cabin is cozy and clean with everything need for your vacation. Well stocked. Rob, the host, was available if we had questions both before, during and after our stay. We brought our two dogs with us. They had a great time, too. The leaves on some of the bushes and trees and barely starting to change. I think in a few weeks, the fall foliage will be spectacular. Thank you, Rob and family for a wonderful vacation.

About the host
Hosted by Robert Doliber
We are a young family of five. We purchased this cabin for personal use, and have found it to be an incredible way to unplug and reconnect. The small space keeps us close, and allows us to bond on a level that we don't always get to at home in the Twin Cities. The surrounding forest is absolutely amazing, and provides an opportunity to teach our kiddos about it's inhabitants, as well as how to care for our natural resources.
Why they chose this property
The seclusion of this four acre parcel is an amazing way to connect with nature, escape the crazy of daily life, unplug, and get outdoors.
What makes this property unique
There are two major draws for this location. The proximity to Grand Casino Hinckley, which is a straight shot 20 minutes down Hwy 48, and has great dining, shows, and attractions. The other is the St Croix State Forest which is open for hunting, hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and other outdoor recreation.
