** Pets welcome (dogs only, 2 dogs maximum, with $100 pet fee per dog). **

** NOTE ABOUT THE DRIVEWAY TO OUR HOME: our gravel driveway from the paved road to our home has some curvy and steep sections, as is normal in the mountains. There are "speed bumps" that help with water run-off and driveway erosion during storms. SUVs, trucks, and higher clearance vehicles have no issues. Low clearance sedans (as some members of our team drive) or sports cars may rub on the speed bumps, so crossing at an angle and / or near the ends should help. Even without 4WD you will be fine, put your car in Low and go slow if needed. **

great for family vacations

The property was all it was supposed to be. My wife and I along with each of our daughters and their families were there together. House is set up perfectly for that mix with each family having its space yet common areas were comfortable and all could get around the table. Area is fun for small town visits and proximity to Parkway made for some nice day trips. Fun in the hot tub and around BBQ grill. Comfortable evenings after kids went to bed. All went very well.

PERFECT GET-A-WAY

This home was awesome! It was a perfect get-a-way for my three friends and me. Everyone had their own space and the community rooms were on the mark for sitting around the dining table or the blazing fire in the gathering room, laughing and talking til bedtime!! It was a celebration of LIFE as one of my friends had fought cancer and beat it!! She needed this time away from doctors and hospitals to relax and unwind. Again, I have to say, it was a PERFECT GET-A-WAY! Thank you so much for opening your home! AC

Spacious and comfortable Home

Not much to say that hasn't been said in previous reviews, but reinforce the following: 1) The house is very comfortable and spacious. 2) The kitchen is well equipped and there is a lot of refrigerator/freezer space. 3) We did not need to contact the owners much, but when we did they responded quickly. Additionally, they were very proactive in their communications to us. 4) We had no problem with the driveway (2 sedans and 2 suvs) but I'll bet the owners have to put in a lot of work to keep it maintained. 5) In summary, we had a great family gathering at the Lodge and will likely be returning. Superlatives fall short in describing the beauty of the Lodge on Laurel Creek and support (Kim/Andy)

We wished for a private location, beautiful setting, room for our 5 adults, one 9 year old and a 1 year old. All of our wishes were granted, and then some! Roomy, views incredible, hot tub, Cardinals visiting and, at night (no clouds on last day), incredible view of MilkyWay, planets and stars. In addition, both Andy and Kim, were “above and beyond” helping out with some minor issues. Hope to return for a rerun! Minor comment to others: getting from the road to the lodge/house proper is a bit of a climb, take it slow and in a low gear.

Respite, Refuge, Renewal

The Lodge at Laurel Fork was the perfect get-away location for our family. The house was very remote and had plenty of private as well as gathering spaces. We only left the house once but our visit to the charming neighboring town was a step back into a much simpler time. Kim and Andy are wonderful hosts who are very responsive and helpful. Be sure to bring everything you will need. Shopping is very limited. The kitchen is well-stocked with appliances and spices, but be sure to bring basics like foil, plastic wrap and extra paper towels. The Lodge provided the respite and revitalization that we all needed more than we knew. Great place for a reconnecting with yourself and your family!

Wonderful place- wonderful people!!

My family and I have stayed in this lovely cabin twice now- once with just our family (4 people) – we loved it so much and had such a great time that we brought back our extended family (10 people)!! The cabin is top of the line all the way- great furnishings, everything you could need in the kitchen to cook with (and then some), great bedding, awesome deck, flat screen TVs, nothing has been spared here! We have stayed at lots of cabins and this is by far the nicest one we have ever stayed in! Although it is top of the line, it is also very comfortable and feels “like home”- a very easy place to relax!! I would also note that we have two small children (ages 1 & 5) and the cabin is very child friendly as they mention on the web site- the built-in beds upstairs were by far the favorite!! I obviously love this cabin and would recommend it to anyone- the owners are very nice and accommodating and the care takers are also very helpful! Just a nice cabin, built in a nice place by nice people!! I am already planning my trip back next year!!

Off-the-Grid Luxury

We were told in advance that our cell phones likely wouldn't work. They actually and truly didn't. After the shock of being disconnected from the virtual world wore off, we started to relax. And breathe. We sat out on the deck and took in the views (which are stunning). We talked to each other and laughed and told stories. We explored the whole house (which takes quite a bit of time - it goes on and on and on). We enjoyed the cook's kitchen and a glass of wine. The owners also reminded us to stop at the grocery before we arrived, they said "because there isn't a store close by" - in reality, once we arrived, we didn't want to leave and were glad we didn't have to. In fact, the owners were so thorough and gracious and generous we felt like family. Speaking of family, bring ALL of them. The house is beyond spacious and laid out to accommodate both privacy and togetherness. A gorgeous haven in the middle of absolute beauty designed to disconnect from technology and reconnect with loved ones.

A perfect getaway for friends...and many choices of activities or not.

The property owners were really helpful, very transparent and accommodating as questions can up. The directions from the fireplace overheating the upstairs if not careful to the access to the hot tub, let you know exactly what to do and expect. Nothing hidden. Great place to stay! Our first visit to this property. We stayed in the area last year. Four couples from an 18 year old dinner group that like to be together, be active and eat. Plenty of room for everyone. Liked the bigger kitchen. The Dollar Store at the turn to the cottage off Hwy 58 came in handy for food and anything else we needed. Fishing was available at the bottom of the hill. Sadly, no fish caught that day. Wait to next time. We all arrived and enjoyed dinner. Enjoyed the extra big deck. The next day we played one of the most beautiful golf courses you will see or play, Olde Mill Golf Resort. It is one of the main reasons we came back to the area. When activities we planned did not work out, we were fine to stay at the house. The next day we rented kayaks over near Galax. IF you go there, regardless of your size, ask for the larger kayaks. Even the small people is our crowd were taking on water in the normal kayaks they rent. Owner is a nice guy just needs to change according to the weather. It was an experience. We will probably do the bike rental and riding next year. The house is beautiful and everything worked. We hope to go back next year.

Great Secluded Cabin

I had a great week at this spacious cabin as I take off work every year to watch the college basketball tournament and I basically stayed at home for this entire trip. I did spend my last afternoon in town putzing around NC as the cabin is maybe a half hour from the border. The entire area is beautiful beyond words. The cabin is pretty secluded but it does have a "matching" smaller cabin which sits at the bottom of the hill maybe 400 feet away; close enough to doublebook if you have a really large group yet distant enough from this cabin that you have enough space and privacy. The caretaker was very helpful and made the place available for me to arrive a little earlier than normal due to my drive. Very easy to work with and responded to my emails usually within minutes. My favorite features (by far) were the deck and the hot tub. The deck was larger than I expected and it has a latched fence gate which secures everyone from your kids to your pets without any worry of anyone getting out. Helicopter parents should be able to relax here :) the hot tub was fantastic and easy to use. The only "criticism" that I have (and I use that word very lightly) is the internet connection might not support your family. There is a sheet posted in the home advising you not to stream any videos "as it will drastically reduce the Internet speed"; I was unsuccessful in even attempting to watch a video. It didn't bother me as I didn't rent the cabin to stream video (just watch nonstop sports on the satellite TV, which worked fine); however, my first thought was if my sister had brought her kids here for a week and they were told no video streaming, I would've seen the "you gotta be kidding me" look. The cabin is STOCKED with all sorts of boardgames if they truly need to be entertained, however if the kids use Netflix and Kindles as their primary babysitters which many do today, it could be an issue here. But my suggestion is to enjoy the cabin and the area. There is a stream/creek which runs through the woods and there is a natural little "waterfall" of a dam and aqueducts that create a constant running water which has a relaxing feel to it when youre enjoying the deck. Most impressively I would say that considering the size and accommodations of this cabin, I think the price is a bargain especially compared to some other listings I've either seen or rented. This would also be a GREAT place if you want to get away to fish for a couple days. Enjoy!

Peaceful and comfortable

My family (13 of us!) was comfortably accommodated in this lovely home. Everyone had a bed and there was plenty of room for alone time or family time, whichever suited the mood. The hot tub was a big hit, despite the warmer weather - and the trout stream was a fun place for folks to play or just get wet. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and we made great use of the *two* laundry areas. The house was well stocked with board and card games and we spent many hours laughing together in the great room and relaxing on the large deck, enjoying the views. We didn't take advantage of the gas fire pit - the weather was too warm to sit around a fire and being gas we couldn't make s'mores! Nor did we climb the hill for stargazing because the trail was pretty overgrown since it's summer. The driveway was in great shape - my Prius was the only one of our four cars that struggled over the speed bumps. We did venture out to Buffalo Mountain and Devil's Den Nature Preserves on a couple of days, but were also content to hang out at the house, walking along the road or the stream or splashing in the water for exercise. It's a quiet country neighborhood with almost no traffic on the road and the house is situated well away from any other homes. There is a Dollar General that sells produce about 6 miles from the house but larger grocery stores were 20-30 minutes away. Overall this was the perfect place for a family gathering.

What a wonderful lodge

Our stay at Kim and Andys lodge was everything we could ask for in a vacation rental. The location has a beautiful view from the hot tub. It was not too far from town to get groceries. The space fit our large party for an unofficial college reunion and it is unanimous that this lodge would be a contender for another group vacation.

Amazing place to get away from it all. A luxo cabin in the woods with all the amenities of home.

What a true gem! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lodge at laurel fork and are looking forward to returning in the future with a few other couples to take advantage of all the cabin has to offer. This was an impromptu work extension stay turned opportunity to get a quick escape night in with my girlfriend. While it was more cabin than we really needed it turned out to be exactly what we wanted. High speed internet service allowed us both to get some work done during the day and the tranquil setting allowed a relaxing environment to enjoy a dinner and evening devoid of the normal distractions of daily life at home. The river provided a great chance for a hike without having to go anywhere and even a chance to catch a couple trout. While they were not dinner worthy the kitchen allowed us all that we needed to make a great meal and the jacuzzi was just icing on the cake so to speak. The hosts were incredibly responsive to the few inquiries we had while at the property and made sure we made ourselves and home and enjoyed the stay. It is definitely on the list of places to revisit for a longer stay and while I’ll have a better itinerary of local options to explore I can’t say I’d be upset to just relax at the cabin and soak in the skyline at sunset and sounds of the forest. Thanks for a wonderful weekend away!

If you want off the grid in the mountains ... You found it!

First some background: Wanted to take my family on vacation to the Blue Ridge Mountains. We had previously been to Gatlinburg, TN and wanted to see some other areas. Group was My wife and I, 5 adult children, their significant others and our 2 year old grand son. We all came from different states and met @ Laurel Fork. We trailered 3 motorcycles, had 6 total vehicles in addition to the trailers and threw in a couple family dogs for good measure. We are a big group with lots of stuff. The house easily accommodated all of us. There were enough beds with a couple left over. Granted some are twin beds, but everyone had a place to sleep. The house is clean, well appointed and has sufficient supplies to cook and feed everyone. Enough space in the bathrooms, the garage is huge - perfect for 3 motorcycles :) The hot tub is awesome on the deck, we spent several nights enjoying the stars in it. The deck itself is very large and has multiple tables and chairs to sit out on. Kim and Andy were really great hosts. They care about your stay and help you with any issues. Very responsive to emailed questions. This house is in a beautiful area with some of the best motorcycling in the US. I'll be back for sure someday. There are a couple things I wasn't quite prepared for: - They aren't kidding the house is way off the beaten path - 40 minutes to a grocery store - so make sure you make a good list!. There is a dollar general about 20 minutes away that has some grocery items (milk, eggs and some basic necessities) - The gravel driveway is tight, steep and has some speed bumps in it to divert the water off it. If you have a low clearance car it will be a challenge. We had no issues with 4 Subarus (3 foresters and a crosstrek) & my Toyota tundra. My one sons Impreza did bottom out some going over the bumps. No damage or anything and got up the hill fine, but anything lower might be problematic. We did get the motorcycles up and down the hill, but you better be confident on gravel. Fortunately our house is also up a gravel road so we have experience on it. If you don't you may want to leave the bike at the bottom. -The house has barely any Cell service and the WIFI is very slow. ATT or Verizon didn't matter. Because we had 12 phones it really couldn't handle our demands. It's satellite based so its laggy and streaming is impossible. You can do email and I'm sure with fewer people you could do some light websurfing. It made MC ride planning pretty tough.

Beautiful house

The house was large and lovely, and communication with the owners was swift and easy. The two young girls in our party loved the built-in bunks. The hot tub was a great way to end the day. Great views from the porches!

Beautiful setting!

We stayed at this beautiful property and went to Floydfest. The home was so comfortable and had everything we needed. The view is beautiful and we enjoyed looking at it from the hot tub! We would certainly book this one again!

Wonderful retreat from the world!

We so enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property. The house is spacious, well appointed, and clean. The deck is beautiful and soaking in the hot tub in the evening is heaven! The cabin is isolated, so if you're going to be doing any gourmet cooking, bring any fancy ingredients with you - the nearest grocery store is small and not close (there is a larger Food Lion about 30min away). Kim and Andy are great hosts - very responsive and helpful. Recommend highly!

We are a family that loves to travel and explore new and exciting places all over the world and have a special fondness for the Blue Ridge Mountains of SW VA.

Why they chose this property

We visited this property as guests for many years and with a little luck and perseverance we ended up purchasing the home and mountain acreage to steward and shape and share with our valued guests.

What makes this property unique

Getting away, solitude, fellowship, relaxing, recharging, unplugging, immersing yourself into the scenic and private surrounding mountain terrain.
