Great house close to the beach

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The house had everything we needed and was the right size for our family of 4. The marsh provides beautiful views and the beach is super convenient and not too crowded. The owner was helpful and quick to respond.

Wonderful in Wells Beach

We had a lovely stay at the Saltbox Cottage! The cottage was clean, well equipped, and had a great outdoor space. Mark and Kim were lovely hosts with prompt and friendly communication. It was a very easy/short walk to the beach via private access. We can't wait to come back!

Beautiful spot on the marsh.

We really enjoyed this part of Maine. Incredible ever changing views. Cute and well appointed home. The owners were awesome and super responsive.

On the marsh

The property is lovely and bright. The beds were comfortable. The back door opens onto a patio overlooking a marsh and from the front door you can walk to a gorgeous beach in five minutes. Our only complaint was that very little was provided. No sheets. No towels. No soap in the shower. We couldn't carry all that from Santa Fe so we had to scrounge from friends. There were no beach chairs but our hosts realized we couldn't have brought any and dropped some off on the second or third day. Much appreciated. As long as you're able to bring everything you need with you you'll love this place. The ad says you can kayak from the backyard but no kayak is provided and there's a grass slope between the house and the water plus you have to be very aware of the tides or you can't get back! We didn't attempt it.

Great house and great locations.

My family and I had a great vacation. The location was beautiful and less than a hundred yards to a private access way to the beach. We had beautiful sunsets at this property and Mark the owner was great. We will definitely rent again. Barbara

Excellent Wells Beach Cottage

My family and I loved staying at The Saltbox. The house was in great condition, the kitchen well equipped, bedrooms comfortable with great closet storage. The outdoor space is a lovely bonus, quiet and amazing sunset views! We can’t wait to return next summer!

Great location and very clean

We had a great stay at the cottage. It was very clean upon arrival. The cottage is also well appointed and had everything that was mentioned in the listing. It is a very short walk to the beach and the sunset views in the evening are spectacular. The cottage is located on a very quiet side street, but still close to all of the local attractions. You can't go wrong staying here.

Why they chose this property

Perfect location. Within minutes from the beach, but also have the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge in the backyard. On a quiet dead-end street. Beautiful Sunsets and bird activity including Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons and Snowy Egrets. Watch the tide come in and out!

We have been renting this unit since we bought the house in 1999. Every year we are making new improvements so that our renters are always comfortable and happy. For many of the weeks in the summer, we have renters who have been coming for over ten years, and we hope you too will want to always come back!!
