Villa Carolina is a private and serene slice of paradise located in a prestigious area of Coral Bay known as Upper Carolina. Our home is highly elevated on the ridge and nestled in the hillside bordering the Virgin Islands National Park. It's peaceful, quiet, and full of sunshine for most of the day.

The bars, restaurants, and quaint shops of Coral Bay are just five minutes down the hill. The famous North Shore beaches of St. John are less than 10 minutes away. Francis Bay and Maho Bay are the closest. Several beaches toward the East End are also about a 10 minute drive. The incredibly pleasant sands of Salt Pond are maybe 15 minutes away. It's the perfect spot to enjoy both sides of the island.

THIS EXCLUSIVE, GATED LOCATION AFFORDS UNINTERRUPTED, 225 DEGREE, PANORAMIC VIEWS over the Carolina Valley, all of Coral Bay, out the East End of St. John toward Norman, Peter, Salt, Cooper, Ginger, and Beef Islands, and all the way to Virgin Gorda. That's more than 30 miles! Directly to the northeast is Drake's Channel and West End, Tortola. Spectacular sunrises on the terrace are a sight to behold and star gazing evenings are out of this world. It's unforgettable 'postcard' scenery.

Relax on the expansive pool deck. Sit back in the fully reclining lounge chairs, or retreat to the comfortable wicker furniture in the shade. Float the day away in the refreshingly blue pool. Read a good book and watch the sail boats dance the aqua blue Caribbean. Bring the blender outside and mix up a 'Painkiller'. Pump up the JBL speaker with some laid back reggae vibes. Fire up the barbecue and enjoy a meal of local fish or lobster at the outdoor dining table. Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.

Wireless internet access is available throughout the house and poolside, for those of you that just can't seem to leave the real world behind. Shame on you.

The spacious Great Room with cathedral ceilings invites you to relax on the plush Tommy Bahama furniture. Five sets of mahogany French doors flow to the sunny pool deck to make for easy outdoor living. Arched breezeways allow the refreshing trade winds to circulate the villa. Ceiling fans abound, and Mexican tile floors are just another touch of class. The gourmet kitchen has everything you need to prepare fantastic meals in style, and your chef will have plenty of room to get down to business. We haven't overlooked a thing; gas range, dishwasher, microwave, large refrigerator with ice maker, coffee maker, toaster, and a kitchen island with an additional bar sink.

Two bedrooms are located on opposite sides of the Great Room for complete couples privacy. They are similar sized master suites and both have French doors overlooking the pool deck. Identical bathrooms have spacious closets, tiled double vanities and open-air stone grotto showers. An internal staircase leads down to the third bedroom with a private deck and a full bath with stone shower. All bedrooms have queen size beds and the third room has an extra daybed. All bedrooms also have A/C, but it's rarely needed because of the great breezes and ceiling fans.

Villa Carolina is extremely popular and has many repeat guests, so we recommend booking early (6 months advanced) to reserve your week in paradise. If for some reason we are not booked within 30 days of your desired vacation time, please contact us, as we often provide discounts for rentals on short notice.

Small family vacation

From the the amazing house and views, to the easy communication with Sean, this home was simply spectacular. The online pictures do not do the properties view and landscape justice. The property is on a large, secluded lot towards the top of the mountain. Views so good, it was hard to leave the outoor area, and head to beaches or town. Thanks for a great trip.

Villa Carolina is everything we could have wanted in a vacation home in St John. It's beautifully appointed; it was clean and well-kept; it's quiet. And the view of Coral Bay from the pool deck is spectacular. Communication with the host was great. The written instructions were clear and covered everything we needed to know.The pictures really don't do the home justice. If you are looking for relaxation at the east end of St. John, this is the place for you. We will definitely be back.

Amazing Property with Spectacular Views

This was our third visit to St. John and this property was our favorite. A great location with easy access to north shore beaches and Coral Bay. The bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen had all the equipment needed, everything was very clean and the views were amazing. The pool was our favorite place to spend every afternoon. All the amenities were in good condition. Communication with the property manager was excellent. We had no issues and would highly recommend.

The pictures don't do the views justice. They are fantastic. The house itself is as advertised. It's well appointed and clean. The layout works really well, as all bedrooms can be accessed indoors, directly from the main room. The location makes it easy to access just about any location on the entire island in approx. 25 minutes or less. The best beaches are much closer.The owner was very easy to deal with and checked in to see how we doing on a regular basis. We would definitely stay there again.

The pictures do not do this villa justice, it's even more spectacular than the photos. The villa is perfectly located on the island to access all the beaches. On arrival it was spotless and the outdoor showers were so unique. Overall we loved our stay here and hope to return.

View was spectacular. However there are some things that really put me off about the property. Due to water conservation from the property there is not a infinity pool as picture shows, not a big deal. Pool was still awesome. Potty situation was a bit odd but get it due to water conservation. You have to play a game of where's waldo finding the correct switch for the fans in the living room. Be prepared to know how to drive a vehicle in manual mode to get to this property. Roads are very steep and so is driveway. Other than that it was an awesome place to stay. Unforgettable.

Perfect house for couples!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The incredible view was just as presented in the pictures. Living space was clean and comfortable. The two identical main floor bedrooms were comfortable and perfect for us and our friends. The Villa was well stocked with kitchen essentials, beach gear, towels, etc. The main living area and bedrooms were very comfortable with just the ceiling fans as there was a nice breeze throughout our stay. Sean promptly responded to all our questions and was very thorough with instructions. The drive up to the house was steep in parts with several switchbacks. But after a few days, we were much more comfortable with the driving. I would highly recommend this property!

Lovely Home

Beautiful house with a spacious common area that comfortably accommodated the five of us. Although we don’t do much cooking on vacation, I think this may have been the best equipped kitchen we’ve found in a beach house. And we appreciated that the driveway wasn’t so steep as to be difficult to navigate. The sunrise woke us at 5:30 every morning, but it was so beautiful it was hard to object!

Great Except for the Mosquitos

Villa Carolina was beautiful,. The location is gorgeous and the house is well stocked. Sadly, while we were there it was swarmed by mosquitos. My daughter was mauled continously. We actually resorted to the local custom of burning smudge pots filled with pieces of collapsed termite mounds to ward off the clouds of biters. Still, I would recommend this house despite the bugs.

I have been visiting St. John for about 35 years. This sublime and spectacular island grabbed a hold of me on the first visit, and I had hoped to one day have my own piece of paradise.

I've been fortunate enough to make that happen, and lucky enough to share it with others.

Why they chose this property

We chose the Coral Bay area to be 'on the quiet side' and we chose the home site for the view and elevated location. We also considered this a very easy and convenient spot to enjoy both sides of the island. While looking at the property for a possible purchase back in 1988, we had to climb a tree to see the view. We almost fell out! When we had the home built in 2000 and 2001, we made sure to leave that tree, and it is right at the top of the driveway now.

What makes this property unique

The location of the property provides for some of the best views on the island. You can see 11 islands all the way down to Virgin Gorda, as well as over all of Coral Bay and the Carolina Valley. There's just no way that any picture can do it justice! Sunrises are truly amazing. Fantastic breezes are common! The villa borders the National Park and is totally private. There is no through traffic. A true escape.
