About this property
Water|Woods|Wildlife|Wonders Abound--The Only Lakefront Rental on Kinkaid in SNF
The only lakefront rental on Kinkaid—Treat your soul to this serene getaway and immerse your spirit in respite amid pristine shorelines and nature's playground. Grounds include woods, creek, bluff, and large waterfront yard. Floor-to-ceiling windows and balcony run the width of the home overlooking a peaceful waterfront cove surrounded by forest and resplendent sunsets. Here the night skies are dark, the laughs are belly-deep, the wildlife is abundant, and deep breaths of contentment live among the bluffs' breezes.
Preliminary caution—You might just fall in love: A number of visitors to the chalet have become enchanted with the environs and have either purchased property in the region or are currently seeking to move to the area.
Murphysboro and the surrounding Kinkaid area are known for their natural beauty, water recreation, hiking, barbecue legacies, wine trail, breweries, remarkable per-capita abundance of local eateries—from 5-star gourmet to off-the-path treasures (complete list and recommendations at the property)—peach and apple orchards, and relaxing excursions in a region filled with friendly people and nature's splendor.
All that said, this property is not for sale, but it is a gem. It is located 5 ½ miles northwest of Murphysboro on Kinkaid Lake at the end of a national forest-service road, tucked into a lakefront cove surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest in the Illinois Ozarks.
The woods and water are filled with the sounds and movement of wildlife. The sunsets are spectacular, and the night skies stunning. Due to its location amid the SNF, the property is not disrupted by light pollution. It is gorgeous country!
The chalet-style cabin is built on a hill in the woods facing the lake. It is comprised of a bedroom, full bathroom with shower, living room, dining room, full kitchen (equipped), and large balcony facing the lake. The living room features sweeping views of the property with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake.
The kitchen and dining room have these views as well and are open to living room, which also features a decorative fireplace constructed with stone from the property. A sliding-glass door leads from the living/dining areas to the large balcony, with the doors flanked on each side by the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The bedroom is tucked down the hall across from the bathroom, which faces the bluffside woods. Nature's harmony lives on the breath of night here, so while the bedroom's pillow-top coziness will entice you, the waterfront view and the symphonic sounds of nature's nocturnal marvels may tempt you to sleep on the large balcony under the splendid view of the Milky Way stretched in its wide chalky wonder across the heavens.
In the morning, enjoy complementary coffee or tea on the balcony overlooking the water and woodland life while planning your day's splendid adventures.
In the evening, as you watch the sun set, enjoy a titch of moonshine (from the sky or otherwise) and listen to the symphonic sounds of nature while trying again and again to discern where the sparkling skies end and shimmering waters begin.
If you are looking for a peaceful, waterfront respite where you can immerse yourself in nature and its many wonders amid serene surroundings, this is your place.
If you'd like to share your reasons for traveling to the area or any special requests you have, we'd love to help make it an extra-special experience for you.
