Very cozy, well equipped cabin that was central to hiking trails and wineries. Steve was great host and super prompt with communication. Definitely would stay here again!
I rented this cabin for a short Saturday to Monday stay while waiting to pick up my kids from a nearby summer camp. Cabin was comfortable but spacious, with a great little deck off to the side. All the amenities you could need for a weekend and close to Carbondale and limitless outdoor options.
Cabin was clean and nicely decorated. EVERYTHING one could need was furnished. Location was near enough to Carbondale but still felt "woodsy" . Be sure to check out the night sky. I've never seen so many stars.
This cabin was great! It was like we landed in Oz after the cabin we stayed in for two nights right before this. It was spacious, comfortable, and the location was absolutely perfect for visiting giant city. Also, very close to Carbondale for hopping into town for anything you need or to go to a restaurant. The host was super nice and very accommodating. We’d definitely stay here again when in the area. Thanks for a great stay!!
We came down to visit friends and the cabins were great to come back to each night . The cabins are close to town but far enough away . I enjoyed a peaceful sit on the deck and a nice walk . The management responds quickly to any question and it was really easy to check in and out. I will say if you are shorter person like myself bring a stool the bed is kinda high.
Really enjoyed our stay at the cabin! We were in the area to return two kids to SIU and it was nice to be able to end our day in the comfort of this location. The beds were comfortable, every room was emasculate and tastefully decorated. The boys really appreciated the snacks that were in the room, too! Thank you for being so helpful! We had a great time!
Here's the thing: when we arrived at Stone's Throw, we discovered the roof had leaked; water was standing in the living room; bedroom carpets were soaked. Bad rain earlier that week. Steve immediately moved us to another fabulous property in Alto Pass w/ no rate increase -- he couldn't have been more accommodating. So he gets a 5-star rating across the board despite our not being able to review the property we booked!

It was good for the price. Nice size. I didn't like that our cottage was made to accommodate someone in a wheelchair. No one in my party was in a wheelchair. The bathroom sink had no place to put your items because it was all made to accommodate a wheelchair. No bathtub because it was a handicap shower. Also, there was no stove. The owner should provide some kind of portable plug in electric or infrared stove top, some pots and pans, so people can cook. Otherwise, everything was good.
Everything was great! In one of the other cabins they had three dogs and they were loud. Alto winery was a great visit. Fast response from owner. Would definitely go back.
We stayed three nights. We were able to get around to many great hiking and rock climbing spots. Everything was smooth and easy and the cabin is very comfortable
