Welcome to Break'n Wind, a cozy three bedroom beachhouse located in the 4-wheel drive area north of Corolla, North Carolina. The house is a 3rd row oceanside home located 500' from the ocean in North Swan Beach. It is light and airy and has a WELL-EQUIPPED kitchen. Enjoy a glass of wine or your meals on the attached screened porch. Two Master bedrooms, one with King bed and balcony and one with Queen Bed. Satellite TV in every room & WiFi. The main level bedroom has two twin beds and shares a bath with the common area. There is a sofa in the great room that can sleep one. There is a fish cleaning area as well for those who like to fish. The house has a gas fireplace Nov - March and a hot tub for those cool nights. Break'n Wind is the perfect house for couples or families. Dog friendly!! Note: Gas fireplace to be converted to electric in 2025.

Perfect week at the Beach

We have stayed at this house 3x over the last 10 years and have loved it every time. The recent updates looked great and the owner was very responsive throughout our trip.

Loved the experience to be secluded, place top floor was in ok condition, beds upstairs were nice, downstairs was not vey clean, kitchen utensils need upgrade and downstairs bedroom and living room were dirty and full of dog hair. It is a shame because is a great comfortable house. The sunroom and jacuzzi were the best places to spend time. I had to clean downstairs to make it decent.

Our stay was perfect

The location was perfect . Still had some privacy and covered parking we saw horses the first day right under our deck. The house was clean and very comfortable bed , our dogs felt right at home they had water and food bowls for them . Would recommend.

Relaxing get away

The homeowner was great and always available. We enjoyed seeing the horses around the house everyday. Close to the beach. Just a beautiful place to relax and unwind.

Perfect!

Perfect! Saw the horses everyday in the yard. The house was charming, the dog bed and bowls were such a sweet touch. If you are looking for a quite retreat for a few people this is the perfect spot. The views from the master deck especially are wonderful, sunrise and sunsets are spectacular. We are planning on making this a yearly trip. Thank you Terri

Great place, Great vacation

Perfect location. Comfortable beach home. AC worked great. Beautiful sunrise from the front porch and upper deck. Relaxing evenings on the screened porch and in the hot tub. Daily horse sightings very close to the home. Horse paparazzi do ruin the tranquility of the area at times. Owner available immediately for any questions or concerns. Our only complaint is that the place could use a serious deep clean.

A "Great Place" ...

We no sooner started driving on the beach and up ahead were 4 horses just walking and posing for pics it was amazing ... Tere's house had everything you could ask for ... and then the STORM CAME ... :-) 50 to 60 mi hr winds and heavy rain but, hey we had everything we needed and lots of fire logs it was amazing and Tere was so nice to call and check up on us ... but no worries Thanksgiving was clear and calm ... took walks and pics of the horses and had a Great Thanksgiving dinner ... Can't thank Tere enough for sharing this amazing home and checking in with us ... Storm and all Gordon and I had a wonderful time ... :-) Hope to go back again ...

Beautiful location for a quiet get-away!

The beach experience was wonderful...we saw horses everyday! The beach was a short walk away from the rental so it was awesome for early morning walks along the shore with my dogs! I was disappointed on how far the rental was away from town...6 miles of riding up the beach 15 mph then another 30 minutes into town for any activity. If you plan on staying at the rental the whole week...this property is for you! The hot tub was a treat! I felt like the house was 'weekly' clean but it seemed like the ceiling fans, walls, heating/air vents, glass doors, behind beds (where I could electrical plug was) hadn't been cleaned in a long time! ...and I had to make my own bed!...at least the sheets were on the bed. The furniture had seen better days but it's a rental, right? 🤷‍♀️ Overall, it was a beautiful area and I had a wonderful time visiting with my son!

So relaxingly enjoyable...my happy place in the OBX!

Break’n Wind beach house was great! We were initially greeted by a group of Spanish Mustangs with a young colt. Very cool... The house sits with an unobstructed view of the ocean. Found it to be private even with other homes nearby. Beach was an easy walk to. Beautiful, cozy house. Bright, airy, and clean inside. Kitchen well stocked. Beds were comfortable. Washer and dryer were a nice convenience. Not to mention the hot tub, even in the Summer heat. Adjust the water temp. and it felt wonderful. Especially late at night with that dark sky. You see so many stars, some shooting. And when the moon comes up over the ocean’s horizon finally, it was just really unique. Sunsets were awesome from the master bedroom’s upper deck. Great place to read in the morning and to listen to all the songbirds nearby. Caught a rainbow in the clouds there. Nice pic.. Screened porch nice spot to spill a seafood boil bucket for dinner. It was truly an unique experience. Plus it was pet friendly. Ellie Mae lived hanging out with us. Bonus not having to board her. Terra was a great host, answering any question, and reachable if needed. Thanks to her, and the beach house for giving us an enjoyable, and relaxing vacation. Looking forward to next year’s stay!

Fun Place

My family had an adventurous and fun time at Break N Wind! Leaving the asphalt and hitting the sand beach for the 7 mile ride to the house was a feeling of adventure we will never forget. The house is a few rows back from the beach, and although there are houses around, it still feels beachy and enjoyingly remote. We have stayed at many VRBOs, and this kitchen was as equipped and full of supplies as any we have ever visited! We did hear from the owner on the drive in that a storm had knocked out the satellite tv and the hot tub, which was a bummer because we had chosen the house for the hot tub - knowing it would be chilly the last week of May. But the owner was very apologetic and communicative throughout. She worked hard to get repairs done, and we were able to use the hot tub the last two nights (and the owner - although not requested by us - refunded a part of our stay because of the hot tub disappointment.). A really nice and appreciated gesture!!! Only other positive/negative that comes to mind is that the house is pet friendly and has a pet smell when you walk in, and we spent a little time vacuuming the hairs off the couch. Probably wouldn’t bother some but might be an issue for others, but I am sure our doggies would have had a fun time if we had brought them! Give this house a go if you are looking for an authentic Carova Beach experience and I am sure the owner will make sure you enjoy your stay!

♥Corolla & Carova Beach♥ Our 1st time in the Outer Banks was an amazing experience, we will be back!

The house was perfect, we all felt at home including our two dogs! First time driving onto Carova 4x4 beach was incredible. At first nerve-racking which quickly fades as you get used to driving on the sand. With GPS make the turn off the beach @ Anemone Ln (safer & easier than others). The house is 3rd row back, but does not feel far with very good views & a quick walk to the beach. The house is extremely private w/ only one house to one side / other side has no development and is backed up by woods behind. Two car parking under the house was a plus! The deck provides a great place for relaxation & an easy place to have your dogs outside to relax with you. The open family rm. w/ cathedral clg. provides a very relaxing space for the family to enjoy. Bedrooms were all perfect w/ their own baths. Everything was extremely clean. Horses came to the house often, it is best if you get up early, this is when we noticed them most. Literally they go wherever they choose to! even walking under the house where the cars are parked lol. I almost feel like they are attracted to this house specifically due to the extreme privacy & no development on it's one side & back. Do not be shy to take rides on the beach back to Corolla (you may experience something special whether it is seeing the amazing sunset from the beach drive, or Horses strolling against the ocean). The host was extremely nice, accommodating & easily accessible / responds fast in case any questions or issues arise.

The house was amazing! It was located close to the beach in the 4x4 section of Corolla. It was clean and well appointed. It was complete with dog beds and bowls for our Boston terrier! It was very dog friendly! The hot tub on the deck was a plus! You could enjoy the view of the ocean from the hot tub. The wild horses would come by in the morning to visit and eat the grass around the house. So beautiful! The host was very communicative and helpful. We had a wonderful stay!

Perfect for true R&R

Our family of 5 truly enjoyed our stay. We saw horses every day- look lovely walks and enjoyed the hot tub! Was perfect space for us. The beach was very close and the 4x4 experience was fun! We were able to truly disconnect - beach, hot tub, games and puzzles - great family week!

Dune Nothing - Break’N Wind

The check-in process was excellent and even the owner communicated multiple times with us. This was a nice touch! Some of the ceilings had spider webs that we noticed from the first day when we first arrived. Other than that the property was nice and clean! We had everything we needed to cook and have a very comfortable stay! This is a really nice home!

Beach Thanksgiving getaway

We were very pleased with our stay at this property on the 4x4 beach access part of Carova Beach. The horses were out every day and it was easy to relax and unplug from daily life...our goals for this trip. The homeowner/house manager is easy to reach if you have questions.

So Relaxing

The house had everything we needed and was so close to the beach. The horses were at the house when we got there and we saw them nearly everyday at the beach. We had a perfect vacation that was so peaceful and relaxing. We didn’t bring our dogs but there was a bed, treats and water bowl to welcome any 4 legged family member if they come along. Over all we had a fantastic stay!

Great location

Excellent house on a more secluded area of the beach. Must have 4wd to stay here. Beautiful views of the ocean from balcony and we saw horses everyday! Just beautiful.

Perfect place to recharge ones self!

From the moment we booked this property we were never once disappointed! Dealing with the property owner was extremely easy.. and she kept us in the loop the entire time. Our two 3 yr old dogs walked in saw the dog bed and realized it was their vacation too! The description of property is very accurate, so all of our expectations were exceeded. Thank you so much for much needed R&R! Look forward to booking again in the future!

Breakin’Wind Beachhouse

Our second stay here, already booked another 2 wks. for next year. We love it that much! Ideal for a couple’s getaway. Spent first week with sister/husband. Cozy, clean, and private. 4x4 area. Dog friendly. Great location, and views from upper deck. Ocean’s a close walk. Hot tub well maintained, great to view stars at night. OBX wild horses visited often. Beautiful to view. Many sights, and activities nearby. Owner great to work with. All and all a pleasant stay!

I have been visiting the OBX since the '70s and self-managing properties in the OBX since 1995. An Alexandria, VA native for many years and moved to Elizabeth City, NC to be closer to the beach. My interests include reading, blogging, cooking, painting, traveling, playing pickleball and spending time with family, friends, and my loyal companions Socks and Kokomo.

I enjoy spending time at the beach house. Love to let the dogs run free and sit out on the beach and read, especially in the fall. Enjoy ending the day with dinner on the screened porch enjoying a glass (or two) of wine. Then fall asleep to the sound of horses neighing and the wind whipping through the windows.

I hope that you can enjoy these things too and will feel comfortable doing business with me.
